Hello, and welcome to Superior Times Resort and Campground!
We would like to take a moment and introduce ourselves. Our names are Tom and Heather Holmstrom. We were married in 2016 and have four children as part of our blended family. We are both originally from the Upper Peninsula. Superior Times Resort and Campground was the result of us wanting to do something “outside of the box” that would allow us to raise our family and show them there is more out there than the traditional path. We also wanted showcase our love and respect for the beauty of the Upper Peninsula; the area that many refer to as “God’s Country.”
In December of 2016, we mistakenly pulled into the driveway of this property. At that time, it was known as Coleman’s Paradise Resort. There was a For Sale sign marking the property. We both knew at that point our fate was sealed to become this property’s new owners. We learned that this property had been a family vacation destination for nearly 100 years. We could only imagine the special memories that had been made here over the years! We wanted to become a part of that deep history.
Through the many years of the resort’s history, the owners had changed and the cabins were showing true signs of their age. We knew there was A LOT of work that simply had to be done. On a wing and prayer, we somehow made this great resort ours. In April of 2017, we opened what we named Superior Times Resort and Campground. We pulled up or sleeves and went to work!
Thank you for choosing us and allowing us to be part of the memories that you create here. We know that you work hard for your own money, as we do. Knowing that you chose our resort to support, means a lot to our Superior Times and Resort family team. We truly appreciate your loyalty and give special thanks to our returning customers. We're located between the two popular vacation destinations of Glen Arbor and Leland, MI - both a short scenic drive in either direction. The peninsula has tons of recreation: hiking, biking, beaches, boating, fishing, dining, shopping, wine tasting, and visit the Sleeping Bear Dunes!
Our farm produces pastured, all natural meat, including pork, beef, goat and fresh eggs/seasonal veggies. See the hens roaming, cows and goats grazing in the fenced-in pasture. A variety of cuts of meat from our freezers are available for sale or get a tour of the farm ~ Just ask! You may simply enjoy the scene at your leisure.
SITE DETAILS: Each camp site has woodchips, gravel surrounding a bonfire ring, a clothesline and neatly stacked firewood for sale. Our sites accomodate 2 adults and their minors. We recommend that larger groups or multiple adults book more than one site next to each other (sites 1 and 2 or 2 and 3 are good for this). Quiet hours are enforced between 10pm-7am. This is our home and farm, not a campground, please think of staying here that way.
A water pump (for delicious drinking water straight from our well) and outdoor solar shower are located at camp.
Our land borders the Sleeping Bear Dunes National Lakeshore. You'll be
just a few miles from access to beautiful Lake Michigan beaches. Relax in the sand, hunt for rocks, hike a trail, kayak or paddle-board and watch an epic sunset.
School Lake, known for its fishing from non-motorized boats or a quiet place to paddle. 2 Miles away, access the Sleeping Bear Heritage Trail, a non-motorized 27 mile groomed trail that follows the scenic M-22 from our location all the way to Empire, MI.
2.8 miles from our camp, you'll find a Mountain Bikers paradise at Palmer Woods Forest Preserve, with various hiking trails and a 6 mile mountain bike trail.

We don't mind a social drink or two, but we do not tolerate loud and drunken behavior. We ask all of our Campers to respect our sacred land and each other.
We have a beautiful bonfire patio with about 15 chairs. We also have a sink in our Welcome Station. For drinking or brushing teeth. Dishes are still washed in the dishwashing station. We have an instant hot water station as well as a charging station to charge your phones.
We have our pup Jazzy Bear on the site, who's the Hostess with the Mostest.
When the campsite is full, we do a group bonfire where everyone is invited to get to know each other.
We also have an artsy outhouse.
Located in Beautiful Benzie Country, in Northwestern Lower Michigan. We are one mile south of Crystal Lake and six miles east of Lake Michigan. Our-house is super insulated and passive solar. We had llamas for their wool and manure.
We retired from raising llamas, we had 12 they got old and moved on. We have around 50 fruit trees. The fruit we grow includes apples, pears, figs and paw paws. We also grow grapes, and kiwis, we also put in filberts, walnuts and pecans. We have a beautiful labyrinth peace garden.
We don't want barbecue pits on the ground it burns the grass

Our goal to provide a peaceful, quiet ambiance for all our guests and so we don’t allow loud music and we require adherence of our quiet hours from 10pm to 10 am. If you’re using a generator, please run it during the day until 10pm, so that it’s not running all through the night.

We are minutes from award winning fishing spots on the Big Manistee, Little Manistee, Bear Creek Trout Streams and the Platte River. There are many opportunities to canoe, kayak and paddle board. We are 10 minutes from the Lake Michigan shore, and many beaches are close by. You have a choice of gorgeous sand beaches with picturesque dunes, and rocky beaches for those looking for fossils, agates, beach glass & beautiful beach stones. We are within an hour of Sleeping Bear Dunes with award winning hiking. Traverse City is 40 minutes away with many activities, especially the Cherry Festival. This area is known for live music venues, and lots of weekend art festivals. Manistee is also home to the Little River Casino.
We have firepits at each campsite, dry firewood is available to purchase, feel free to pay by cash, Venmo or CashApp, cost is $15.00 a wheelbarrow and can be found by the wood burning stove under shelter. Fresh flowers bouquets are available to purchase seasonally at our Floral Stand & Market. We have local NON GMO Pasture raised eggs $5 a dozen, Sourdough Bread $10, organically grown garlic, peaches, scones & fishing lures & our Guest Book! An outhouse is available for use and is supplied with toilet paper & hand sanitizer. There is a garbage can and recycling bin near the outhouse. We installed a water hydrant close to the flower bed near the wood pile so you can get potable water to bring back to your site, or hose off with on the spot. A scenic small creek runs by many of the campsites.

2Chicks And A Farm is a small working farm on 20 acres, owned and run by Julie & Theresa Graham. We are 13 minutes from South Haven and Lake Michigan, 30 minutes from the city of Kalamazoo and just under an hour from Grand Rapids.
Those of you who have visited in the past will notice that we significantly downsized this year. Due to Township and State regulations, we are now limited to offering only four campsites unless we get licensed, which at this time is cost prohibitive. So, we have selected the four most highly rated sites and upgraded them, to truly make your experience here special.
About half of the 20 acres is wooded, with walking trails around the property, to include our fish stocked pond and a little tributary of the Black River.
All sites have a fire ring, or metal fire pit, and picnic table.
We have an outdoor propane shower that provides both hot and cold water.
A free refreshment bar is available 24/7. Feeling a little peckish before breakfast, or after dinner? Help yourself to a snack and a hot or cold drink.
You are welcome to collect eggs for breakfast and fresh produce from our gardens (for a fee).
We are a working farm and registered as two Non-Profits. One an animal rescue, primarily working with cats. At any given day we have 20-30 cats roaming around the farm. All are under the care of our vet, vaccinated, spayed or neutered and treated for fleas and ticks. All important because they will want to interact with you. Some will want to sleep with you.
Our 100 plus flock of poultry, comprised of chickens, ducks, geese and turkeys, free range during the day, so leave the Prada's at home.
If you are staying at Sam's Place, your closest neighbors will Penelope and Petunia, our two female sister pigs. The prevailing winds are down from your site, but you may hear them squabble. Our herd of Nigerian Dwarf goats will love your attention and treats we can provide. Arriving in March is Jack, a miniature donkey...we are very excited!
Please try to check-in by 8pm. Exceptions can be made. There are locally mandated quiet hours (10-7 Sun through Thur, and 11-7 Fri and Sat). Hanging out by a fire and chatting is fine.

It's only a ten-minute drive to Pinconning, where you can experience Michigan's "Cheese Town" and all it has to offer. There's a grocery store, numerous cheese shops, and a variety of party stores and restaurants. For the outdoor enthusiasts, don't miss out on going to the ever-famous "Northwoods Wholesale Outlet". Also nearby is the "Saganing Eagles Landing Casino" in Standish. We have resided here for over 30 years and can assist you in many ways to get the most out of your visit.
By the way, the definition of the word "Elysium" is "Place of perfect bliss" and yes, we labeled it that long before the movie with Matt Damon was created.

Bear Tree Homestead is nestled among the cliffs and ravines which drains the south face of Hogback Mountain located in Marquette Township Michigan.
Hogback Mountain is one of the larger rock formations in the Huron Range, a surprisingly rugged, and diverse region of low mountains carved by glaciers.
Each cabin is hand-built of log and stone using traditional Scandinavian building tools and techniques. The cabins have access to the pond, use of the canoe, a private fire pit, picnic table, charcoal grill and privy. Inside the cabins is a functional kitchen with dishes, flatware, pots and pans, so you can prepare meals onsite. Cabins also have table and chairs as well soft chairs/sofa sitting area, bookshelves with a variety of books, board games and puzzles, and covered porch in case of rain.
Our buildings, gardens, and pastures are integrated into the forested landscape and are not your typical homestead. Enjoy the peaceful surroundings, collect fresh eggs (when they are laying), lay in the hammock, listen to the sounds of nature and the barnyard or take an adventure hike, bike ride, snowshoe, or ski right out the door.
One of the most wonderful things we have to offer is the accessibility to thousands of protected acres surrounding us and the trails that bisect them. The property is on the North Country Trail, just over a Noquemanon Trail Network Forestville trailhead where access to year round recreation awaits. Hogback Mountain is just up the trail from the cabin with spectacular views of forest, mountains and lake superior.
We are located 8 miles from downtown Marquette in Michigan's Upper Peninsula where there are many great restaurants, shops, and brewpubs.
However, once you drive into Bear Tree Homestead and settle in you will not want to leave.

We went tent camping here and it was really nice! We were only here for one night so we weren’t able to explore. However, it was nice that there seemed to be various things to do such as volleyball, horseshoe, kitchenette etc. The only thing that threw us off was the slight trek to the camp spot because it is slightly uphill. However, it was helpful that there was a wagon to pull stuff up!

We had a wonderful time, except for the first night of rain. Fortunately, our gracious hosts not only provided firewood, but they also kept it covered! The campsite was filled with fun activities, including ladderball, horseshoes, and volleyball. Their location is also very convenient to reach Lake Michigan, Traverse City, the Sleeping Bear Dunes, and many other wonderful locations.

Just spent three nights camping at Llama Meadows Farm and cannot recommend it enough. The land is incredibly beautiful, peaceful, and meticulously clean. The host is absolutely amazing and has created a truly special organic sanctuary (the labyrinth peace garden and fruit trees are stunning). If you want a serene, clean, and welcoming getaway in Benzie County, this is it. I will absolutely be back!

The tent sites were nice and separate from other groups. The kitchen had all you need to cook stovetop or over the common fire pit. Rob was really nice and made sure we had what we needed. The location is great in close proximity to the park and many outdoor activities. There's a great mix of wooded area and open space to star gaze at night. We had good weather but there's enough covered areas to compensate if the weather doesn't cooperate. A covered kitchen, dining area and canopy next to the fire pit.

We had an excellent stay at Camp. Every claim about each amenity was just as described - or better. To have access to a hot shower, a working, well- equipped kitchen, a cozy community campfire was spectacular. But our tent site took first price - tucked in the quiet pines - incredibly tranquil and fresh air-filled, we slept great. Our fellow campers were very neighborly; everyone friendly and helpful. Overall, camp Moonshadow offered a warm, welcoming, and rejuvenating but relaxed vibe. Thanks!!

Robb and Jeanne's camp site was by far the best camp site I have visited. If you want a clean quiet camping experience that includes hot showers, outdoor kitchen, private sites with no cars riding by your site then this is the place for you. It is at a perfect location within a few miles from Sleeping Bear Dune National Park. Robb and Jeanne was very accommodating and I would highly recommend this camp site.

The stay was wonderful, very helpful on local activities! We stayed on site 10, which was a nice location. The only downside was there was little shade until late evening.
Everything else was great! I really appreciated the family dropping the firewood off at the site while we played cards. Site was clean, and everyone respected the quiet hours! You could barely hear a single car driving at night. Loudest part (and a highlight for me) was listening to the wildlife talking throughout the evening.
We will definitly be coming back to visit again in the fall hopefully!

Stephanie was a fantastic host, very friendly and knowledgeable. Campsite was as advertised, quite roomy as well, plenty of space and a fire ring. Having a picnic table was convenient as well. Only downside really was the mosquitoes were terrible but that’s not anything against the host, just MI summer. We’ll definitely be back!
