Also evidence exists of this area being an Indian camp long ago as suggested by arrowheads and an old handmade rock wall.

Clayton Geneva Camp Ground began as a retreat for our family since the 70's. My grandparents, Donald Clayton Russell & Jewel Geneva (Davis) Russell, purchased this little piece of heaven to get away from the hustle and bustle of Cincinnati life. Judy was born in a little cabin just down the road. Judy & Don along with many family members have made cherished memories here over the years. We want to share its beauty with you and your family.
Please consider, Clayton Geneva is a primitive campground, gravel drives and left as natural as possible. This is not a sculpted campsite or a concrete campground. The primitive area is as such, gravel, grass, sand terrain accessible by a one lane gravel drive that leads over the hill and around the cliff to the riverbank. This drive is absolutely passable however is left bumpy to keep traffic at a safe speed as pedestrians also walk the drive. It is passable by any vehicle as long as the vehicle is not overloaded beyond its ability and/or has an extremely low profile.
Any area that is not an actual campsite is left to nature, not manicured, trimmed or sculpted. As you’ll find all the sites are clear please don’t expect micromanaging of wild growth of our native plants in areas around the sites as we reserve those areas for the wildlife to enjoy.
Please consider all the above mentioned details, primitive campsites are not for everyone and that’s ok.

We have almost 200 acres of beautiful country surrounded by the Daniel Boone National Forest in Rockcastle County. With a mile of river to swim, kayak, and fish and enchanted forest trails to hike, climb, or play, we have all of the best Kentucky has to offer! We have more established sites with fire rings, or you can find a place off the beaten path for more privacy, if you choose. The riverside is perfect for hammock camping, too.
We love music and often host bands on the weekends. We rent kayaks and run shuttle on site, as well.
While there are almost 200 acres to escape into, on any fine night, the stage sits wit a drum kit and the will to make music within the Daniel Boone National Forest. Come play, come get away....we have it ALL!

My granddaughters and I camped at Riverbank Overlook for three days… the campsites are well taken care of as are the restrooms. One of my girls slept all night in the hammock, we all took turns enjoying it during the day, it’s an absolute must have! Very relaxing, peaceful and quiet place to camp…oh, we all loved the animal encounters with the miniature horses, goats, and rabbits! Thank you so much Amber for providing such a safe fun place to camp! Thank you for sharing your family’s land with us! My girls and I will be back when the weather is cooler!

We can't wait to come back. 💕 We had a quiet little escape for a few nights and it was so peaceful, full of life, and a beautiful property with lots of hiking/sites to see very nearby. Our hosts were so welcoming and sweet, they truly have something special going on here. For this primitive site, of course take your daily comforts if you wish and bug spray. It was the best layout for our tent and canopy and I even had the perfect landing overlooking the creek for my yoga and meditation. There is a pit toilet you can use a few 100 yards away but it wasn't a big deal for us, very easy walk. And we had the nicest little creekside to use for bathing with our camp shower. If you truly enjoy getting lost in nature, this is a great place to do it and reconnect with yourself and each other. 💚

Sunrise ridge campsite was peaceful and quiet. Definitely felt alone with plenty of privacy. Only issue was the tent platform was missing a board and the picnic table was knocked over. Not a big issue if you are used to primitive camping. Plenty of shade and room to explore. Make sure you bring plenty of high quality tick repellent. We had several on us the moment we walked from the truck to set up camp. But once we got our spray out and treated our gear those little buggers stayed away.

This was our first time using hipcamp and it went so well that we can’t wait for our next trip. Patrick met us as we arrived and showed us to our spot for the night. It was so peaceful and gorgeous. The bath house, with private showers, was clean and it had nice, hot water. We loved all the sounds and sights of nature as we relaxed. We would highly recommend this location to any of our friends and family and hope to revisit again one day!

I came here to car camp in my Jeep and I will say this was an amazing experience. Lori greeted us right at the gate. She was nothing but kind, communicative, and accommodating ! Me and my sister were able to enjoy the lake with swimming as well as using the equipment available on site Very laid back and peaceful place to be . I’ll definitely be back again !!!

So very nice! Extremely unique. Very functional for our purposes. Appreciated the pavilion. Showers were nice and hot water abundant. Lots of flat ground for tents. Very quaint rentals. One downside was no shade from the sun. Please support this place!

We had a really great time. There’s lots of nature to see lots of trails to walk 200 acres to explore, although you have to be careful of the nettles. Josh is a great host when we got there the road had been washed out and he was repairing that spent two days at least doing that and created another path so we can get to our site and make sure we had dry wood to burn. It is very remote, but if you’re prepared for that, it’s a great time in the view is absolutely stunning and there’s no traffic to be heard. The lightning bugs are glorious. Top-notch experience.

Me and my buddies tent camped at the riverbank outlook, it was nothing short of amazing. Less busy and more lowkey than a state park, close to many fun things. Amber was a great host to us and made our stay better by always being on the case with firewood and being genuine. The place has such an amazing nature, after a long day of disc golfing and kayaking it was so nice just floating in the river. Give this place your money if your thinking about it, you can tell Amber loves seeing families and friends just enjoy and have fun together. ❤️
