Warm weather is here — and so welcomed. Winter delivered plenty of snow and brutal cold, but that's behind us. Away is greening up and ready for camping. Away sits at the entry point to western Boone County in Northern Kentucky — neighbor to Cincinnati, Rabbit Hash, and the Ohio River. Our 27 acres mark where rolling farmland gives way to steep, forested hillsides. End-of-the-road and ridgetop, it's private by nature. Campsites are tucked in woods shared with turkey, deer, owls, and woodpeckers. Wander wide strolling paths, single-track hiking trails, open fields, and forest — or settle onto the porch of a historic log home. We're a quieter, acoustic kind of place. Great for travelers passing through or locals needing a quick and beautiful outing. Solo campers, friends, families — newbies or seasoned. Drive-in sites make loading and unloading easy. Amenities: Privacy! We book only two sites at a time, set far apart and wrapped in woods. Also included: an exceptional outhouse, tables, fire rings, lanterns, and a Welcome kit (paper, fatwood, lighter, candle). Firewood available during booking or on arrival. Site 1 – Open Sky — A large field edged by forest. Fits solo or groups, tents to small campers. Extras: hammock, trampoline, badminton & cornhole by request. Closest to the cabin, strolling trails, firewood shed, and outhouse. Site 2 – Gobbler's Knob — Cozier. A small rise surrounded by woods. Short walk to the outhouse and firewood shed. Park on-site or at the entrance, just 50' away. Site 3 – Henry's Holler — By request only. 4WD overlanders exclusively. Read the full site description before requesting. All sites welcome tents, small pop-ups, pull-behind trailers, and hammocks. Curvy, scenic roads lead quickly from the paved world of Union, KY to us — and onward to the Rabbit Hash General Store, the Ohio River, Dinsmore Homestead, Middle Creek Park, Big Bone State Park, and the Creation Museum. Boating, kayaking, biking, hiking, or lazing in tiny riverfront towns, all just minutes away. Do nothing or do something.

Site 2 – Gobbler's Knob — Named for the flock of turkeys we spooked on our first walk of the land. A private perch on a small forested hill, with direct access to The Great Googly Moogly Trail. Short stroll to the outhouse, short drive to the woodpile. Best for two tents and two cars. Accommodates pop-ups, rooftop tents, and small trailers. Drive right up — or in soggy weather, a short walk from the flat parking spot 50' below.

Site 1 – Open Sky is our largest, most accommodating spot and closest to the woodshed and outhouse. A spacious open field with shady trees, forest edges, and immediate access to walking paths, the frog pond, and the historic log cabin. Extras include a hammock, trampoline, and badminton & cornhole by request. The flat, open layout welcomes multiple tents or campers, larger groups, outdoor games, and kids roaming free. Ridge-top views in winter, lush green in summer — easy living in the great outdoors.

3 - Henry's Holler

Site 3 – Henry's Holler — By request only, send us a message. Despite the name, it's actually a plateau tucked in forest — but Henry's Holler just rolled off the tongue. This one's for 4WD vehicles only. The access road is steep and gets uncertain in wet weather for 2WDs. It sits farther from the outhouse, though it's a short walk or quick drive. Being nearer the property edge means a greater chance to hear our neighbors - still rare but a chance. Your surrounded by forested, steep hillside so you won't be seeing anyone. And fair warning — there's a big military transport vehicle on site. Some love it, but it's decidedly not a natural feature. This site is best suited for self-contained overlanders, van campers, and low-maintenance tent folks. Comes with fire ring, table, lantern, and welcome kit. Message us and we'll confirm you've read through and accept these conditions. We promise less and charge less — but if this is your kind of spot, we're glad to have you.

I had a great time camping on Teri (and Mike)'s location - they have taken a great deal of care to build something they can be proud of. I've visited state parks with less signage and trails, and none of them had a chandelier in the outhouse!

Just outside the greater Cincy area, on a hilltop, is this quiet camp. The Open Skies spot is very a spacious, clean, and well maintained glade. The outhouse is one of the cleanest and cutest I’ve seen. I appreciated the short walking trail that loops around the site, so as to give my pup a quick walk and sniff. The hosts are quick to communicate and ensure a satisfying stay. Would definitely visit again.

We camped here for my birthday. The site was beautiful and very well maintained. The hosts really go the extra mile to provide a comfortable, enjoyable space. They have multiple sites but they are far enough apart that it feels very private. There are some short hiking trails and an adorable old house to explore. The pit toilet was the cleanest, nicest camping bathroom I have ever been in. A very positive experience. I can see us coming back.

This is a beautiful property with plenty of space and privacy. Probably our new favorite spot for when we want to stay nearby our home in Cincinnati. Teri was a very helpful host and accommodated our last minute booking request. A lot of thought has been put into the experience here and we will definitely be back this summer with friends!

Teri and Mike have done a fantastic job here! Things are even better than expected from the online description and the welcome kit was a pleasant surprise. The sites are well laid out with plenty of privacy. Great star gazing here, and I saw deer several times. This was my first time camping here, but I hope to be back again next season.

Wow, what a great experience for us & all of our guests! We had the party that we always wanted - but only because Hosts Teri & Mike made sure that everything was perfect. We could not have had an event so special without their advice, guidance, & ongoing support throughout the evening. The site is beautiful & the Barn and Cabin gave us special spaces to use for food, music & enjoyment. Not to mention the stage/covered bandstand attached to the barn! And after outdoor dining, music and dancing ... relaxing by the fire and making S'Mores under the stars. We heard from numerous guests - "this is the most amazing party that I have ever been too!" We have to agree, Teri and Mike's place and their help made it all happen!

What a great getaway. Awesome spot. You would never know you were so close to any major city. I like the fact that Rabbit Hash is close as well as Big Bone Lick State Park. If you need stuff Kroger isn’t too far away. Plenty of room between sites that add to the privacy. Firewood is available as well. Great place to explore while on property and the “world’s coolest outhouse” is awesome. This site “Henry’s Holler” is a 4x4 only site that is extremely private. I take my single axle trailer down there with a rooftop tent on it. I love this as a getaway from Cincy hustle and bustle. Teri and Mike are great hosts.

The campsites were great, we rented two sites and had the whole place to ourselves. Hosts were great, very responsive and accommodating. Beautiful place to stay, trails were great for kids, cabin was neat to explore, outhouse was better than most. Kids loved the trampoline at the Open Sky site. Great time overall, will be going back again!

High and dry. Mostly level site and surrounded by trees. Fire pit and picnic table. Very private. A very short walk to the toilet. A nice Welcome Kit provided. Firewood available. There is an incline at the site entrance. Although there was a light rain, my Kia Telluride had no problems making it up the hill. Teri and Mike were outstanding hosts and had the site ready to go. Communication was excellent. I’ve already made my next reservation for October!

⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ Clean, Cozy, and So Much Fun! This campsite exceeded all our expectations! The first thing we noticed was how clean and well-maintained everything was—especially the toilet, which was surprisingly neat for a campground. It made the whole stay so much more comfortable. The hammock setup under the trees was the perfect touch—we spent hours just relaxing, reading, and soaking in the peaceful vibes. And the trampoline? Total win! The kids (and even some of us adults 😄) had an absolute blast bouncing around. It added such a fun, unexpected element to our trip. Between the quiet surroundings, the thoughtful amenities, and that dreamy hammock nap, this place really felt like a hidden gem. Definitely coming back!

I loved tent camping on Teri’s land. It was a big field surrounded by trees that gave us privacy from other campers. The trails and trampoline occupied the kids for most of the day. We heard coyotes and an owl which made it even more fun. I would highly recommend staying here.

We had a great weekend tent camping on Gobbler’s Knob. The site felt private and the property was very quiet (besides the lovely birds!). The outhouse was clean and well stocked, and the firewood nearby was super convenient. We would definitely camp here again!

I really like this campsite! It was well-maintained, and the kids ran around barefoot. The trampoline, hammocks, and trail course were great too. I think it would be even better if there was a water tap. We’ll definitely come again!

What a wonderful experience, Teri and Mike have a beautiful area tucked away in Northern KY. Plenty of space between campsites! We stayed at Henry’s Holler. It’s a 4x4 only site. There is a steep hill that you may need 4wd to get up. That being said there are a few more spots to reserve that this is not a requirement. It is so peaceful here. You would never know you were so close to busy areas. Rabbit hash is right down the road as well as Lawerenceburg Indiana. Just a short distance is also Big Bone Lick State Park. If you just want to get away this is the spot for you. The log cabin on site is so cool. Plenty of walking can be done as you meander along some easy trails. The “outhouse” on site is cute. It is the only bathroom on property. Well stocked and not your typical “outhouse”. It’s adorable. You will have to see it to appreciate it. This is a great alternative to camping at a campground. Note: there is no electric or water. Also pack out what you pack in. You will be greeted with a “welcome” kit that includes a citronella candle, some paper and fire starting accessories. Firewood is available for purchase by the barn. I will definitely be back! Teri communicates very well to make sure all is going well. Don’t be afraid to explore this great slice of heaven.

My daughter, dog, and I all enjoyed our stay at Open Sky. There is plenty to do, the host had bad mitten set up, left cornhole boards for us to use, there is a trampoline, a hammock, short hiking trails from the site, and the old cabin nearby to visit. The outhouse is one of the best outhouse experiences I've ever had :) We will be back for sure!

We had to e greatest time at Open Sky! I took my daughter and her three friends to celebrate her 12th birthday. Teri and Mike were so wonderful and communicative. They set up badminton and cornhole and even left her a special birthday gift! The land is beautiful and there was never a dull moment. Thank you so much to the hosts!!
