Weekend Trip to Hidden Valley River Camp

Beautiful place with a great view! Spent a lot of time swimming and fishing in the river! Enough space to play football, pickleball, tag, etc with our big family. Land is maintained very well, porta potty clean with a nice hand washing station right next to it. Will be back!

Weekend Trip to Fiskburg Holler

The land was beautiful. The hike to the campground definitely made you feel like you were getting away. Don't plan on carrying too much stuff up that hill. It's pretty steep.

We had a great time camping here! Very nice, very private but not too far from town. You can hear the train every now and then but not enough to bother us. We loved swimming and fishing the creek, and we would definitely stay here again!

I can’t say enough good about the whole experience!! The hosts were awsome people!! So happy they’ve opened their land up to share with others! It was a beautiful experience all the way around! They went above and beyond to make sure we had everything we needed to make our stay as easy, fun and comfortable as possible in return we added a few amenities to our campsite lol built some steps to get safely down to the creek, which was amazing and a nice fire pit to share We will definitely be going back one of my very favorite places ever. !!

2 nights at Hidden Valley River Camp

What a great spot! Truly feels like a hidden gem. We had a wonderful stay for two nights. Kathy and her husband were so friendly and helpful offering check-ins but leaving us to ourselves the rest of the time. Our boys (5 and 3) LOVED our camp site next to the creek. We caught frogs, fish and crawdads and every bug you could think of! We had deer walk through the camp site and saw mice, chipmunks, and all sorts of birds which was heaven for my two outside kids. Bonus - great fireworks for July 4th right next to the river! We will definitely be back!

8 nights at Fiskburg Holler

The location is easy to find and the gravel parking area is just off the road. There is a 3 minute walk to the campsite down a pretty steep hill on a well maintained path. The campsite is isolated and you mostly just hear nature sounds. I did not use the fire pit or picnic table, I was just out there to sleep after work, but they're new and there is firewood next to the fire pit. I camped in a hammock, but the area to put up a tent is flat but on slight slope. It's nice. I was there for multiple nights and no one disturbed my campsite. This is a simple, remote campsite that is appropriately priced.

We so enjoyed our stay on the river at site 4 on Martha’s land with our 8 year old and 2 dogs. The site is so perfectly secluded. Dave made sure we had plenty of firewood and even provided an inner tube for us to enjoy on the river. We will definitely be back.

Dave was very nice and showed me to my spot as well as directing me on where to go if I wanted to explore the property. I stayed at campsite 1 and it was perfect for car camping. Like other reviews said, if you want direct water access it would be best to stay at site 2 or 3. Would love to come here again!

1 night at Sugar Maple Grove Campground

As advertised. We went directly to our campsite and setup. We were the only campers there AFAIK. Easy to find as it is listed on Google maps. Private and nice looking property. Great views of the night sky.

I loved the primitive tent camping! Bradley’s backwoods campsite was perfect and secluded. It was peaceful and the petting zoo was perfect. Mr. Ed the mini horse came right up in our campsite and let us pet him and feed him. He was so sweet. Let us take picture with him. Steve was the best host! Loved this little hole in the wall. Also the little signs along the small trails were so funny and gave it the best little homey touch! 1000/10. Thank you all so much!

Weekend Trip to Quiet Creek Valley

I loved spending a weekend tent camping at this little piece of heaven only an hour from downtown Cincinnati! There was so much green and wildflowers along the campsites, along with the night sky being so clear due to being away from most light pollution. My dog was happy to be off leash and by the water! Martha took time to show me around when I arrived, along with her husband checking in towards the end of the day. I felt very safe and welcomed! I look forward to another trip soon ☀️ Very helpful and responsive hosts!!

Weekend Trip to Away at Green Hill

⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ Clean, Cozy, and So Much Fun! This campsite exceeded all our expectations! The first thing we noticed was how clean and well-maintained everything was—especially the toilet, which was surprisingly neat for a campground. It made the whole stay so much more comfortable. The hammock setup under the trees was the perfect touch—we spent hours just relaxing, reading, and soaking in the peaceful vibes. And the trampoline? Total win! The kids (and even some of us adults 😄) had an absolute blast bouncing around. It added such a fun, unexpected element to our trip. Between the quiet surroundings, the thoughtful amenities, and that dreamy hammock nap, this place really felt like a hidden gem. Definitely coming back!

3 nights at Hidden Valley River Camp

One of the best sites we’ve visited. Hosts were extremely kind and hospitable, porta potty was very clean, all sites were clean and mown witb an easy walk to the river. Road in was a very steep incline which would be difficult in snow or ice but was fine for our van while visiting in summer. Easy drive onto all campsites once down the hill. Would definitely visit again.

New favorite family spot! Nearly every site is right on or very close to the river — peaceful and beautiful. We stayed by the main pavilion (the kids picked it), and even in that central spot, we had a good amount of privacy. If you want seclusion, there are definitely tucked-away sites too. Tons for kids to do: volleyball, frisbee golf, badminton, a “hillbilly pool,” and even a surprise inflatable water slide the host set up one day! Some sites are near animals, which was a fun extra. Sites feel natural but have useful amenities like a fire pit, grill, picnic table, and trash cans. No showers, but Porta Potties are well-placed and convenient. The host was super responsive and welcoming. Great mix of rustic and family-friendly. We’ll absolutely be back—and next time, we’re bringing more family!

3 nights at Hones Pointe Campground

Hones point,honestly it's great site. The little Kentucky river that is on property along the camp sites is absolutely amazing to go play in or just plain out sit alongside and listen to. Steve has done a amazing job at making the sites great. Picnic table,camp grill and fire ring. The only negatives that my wife and I have to say are these. If you're wanting peace and quiet this is not the place. At random times you would here what we belive were donkeys or livestock get excited for what seemed to be hours on end. If it wasn't the donkeys it was dogs barking no stop. And we had no cell service but that could be a carrier issue. All in all great place will probably come back with the grandbabies cause it is nice and there is a play area. All in all,it's a great place and would recommend.

We loved walking through the creek and catching crawdads.

Sugar Maple Grove Campground

Nice secluded campsites with lots of space and privacy. Fire wood available for $5 for a bundle or you can bring your own, also have excellent cell phone service unlike most state parks in the area. Picnic tables, fire pits and water available and also have a portable idc tote so we can fill your tank at any site. 30 amp and 20 amp outlets at rv sites 1, 2 and 3. Brookville Lake is about 5 minutes away. We have 25 acres with about 3 wooded acres with over 100 sugar maple trees and about 20 acres of flat grass fields plenty of room to hike, just keep in mind we have one horse that is fenced in so please close gates back when you open them. We mow trails for hiking feel free to explore, if you run into a cornfield it's not our property. Att has excellent service at 94mbps download and 11mbps upload, Verizon is good at 36mbps Download and 5mbps upload. We have an outhouse for tent campers And water is available by campsite 1 and we have portable idc tote with city water. We also have 3 indoor/outdoor cats, they like to visit the campground. Direction: Please use SR 44 to country road 450 and go north and take a right at 4 way stop on to Springersville Road and we are about a quarter mile down the road on the left. Ohio River experience

California, Ohio is a community on the Ohio River about a twenty minute drive upstream from Cincinnati. Actually the eastern-most neighborhood of Cincinnati, it has it's own small town or quaint village atmosphere. Safe, flat, scenic and walkable, California boasts several dining experiences, one a brewery, and quite a variety of recreational experiences. Riverbend, a music venue in season, is a mile away, possible walking distance, as is Belterra, a race track and casino. The bike trail is a few blocks away and connects to all the other area bike trails including the Loveland Bike Trail along the Wild and Scenic Little Miami River. A local nature preserve, California Woods, offers hiking and nature programs, and there is even the California Golf Course. If watching baseball leagues play games is your cup of tea, there is a large sports complex with ball fields in California. A town park with trees and large, grassy open spaces and small playground is a few blocks away. Bring your game of horse shoes, corn hole, a frisbee to throw, your skateboard, golf cart, or some bikes just to cruise around and take in the scenery. Nearby, and right the Wild and Scenic Little Miami River is Armleder Park, also with walking and biking trails which also connect to the 5 mile loop around Lunken Airport. I have two properties which offer two different kinds of camping, which I have itemized separately in the Hipcamp listings. RV Campers will park on the upper level at the Panama Street address , and have one set of amenities. It is a short walk lead down to the Ohio River where there is a small patio with table and chairs overlooking the river. Tent campers set up their tents right beside the river and have a different set of amenities, as itemized on this website. It's an unusual set up, as perhaps Hipcamper spots often are. It is interesting and relaxing to watch the barges and pleasure boats go by. On one hand I feel like I am in the middle of nowhere when I am on these (small, very not fancy) properties by the river. On the other, there are planes, trains, barges and pleasure boats, and motorcycles passing by at times. The River can be mesmerizing and serene, shimmering in the western sun, or busy with weekend pleasure boats and barge traffic. Take a walk around town, then sit by the river and watch the boats go by. Relax, set up your grill and enjoy the sights and sounds of the Ohio River. Perfect for river rats. Downtown Cincinnati is 15 or 20 minutes away with no traffic, and there are two or three ways to get there. There is a lot to do in Cincinnati. My place in California is just a few minutes from the I 275 exit.
