Even though there is complete peaceful seclusion it does get a little noisy when the bullfrogs start their evening ritual. There is a dock and pier perfect for fishing or swimming. Firepit, grill with gas provided, two boats, lots of seating on the wrap around porch, two bedrooms; one with a queen bed and the other with two twin beds and just lots of natural beauty and peace! The Harrican Lalehouse provides all the ammenities to make your stay comfortable and relaxing! Clayton Geneva Camp Ground began as a retreat for our family since the 70's. My grandparents, Donald Clayton Russell & Jewel Geneva (Davis) Russell, purchased this little piece of heaven to get away from the hustle and bustle of Cincinnati life. Judy was born in a little cabin just down the road. Judy & Don along with many family members have made cherished memories here over the years. We want to share its beauty with you and your family.
Please consider, Clayton Geneva is a primitive campground, gravel drives and left as natural as possible. This is not a sculpted campsite or a concrete campground. The primitive area is as such, gravel, grass, sand terrain accessible by a one lane gravel drive that leads over the hill and around the cliff to the riverbank. This drive is absolutely passable however is left bumpy to keep traffic at a safe speed as pedestrians also walk the drive. It is passable by any vehicle as long as the vehicle is not overloaded beyond its ability and/or has an extremely low profile.
Any area that is not an actual campsite is left to nature, not manicured, trimmed or sculpted. As you’ll find all the sites are clear please don’t expect micromanaging of wild growth of our native plants in areas around the sites as we reserve those areas for the wildlife to enjoy.
Please consider all the above mentioned details, primitive campsites are not for everyone and that’s ok.

This hidden paradise has a waterfall that used to have a mill on it in the early 1900's. There are cliffs on each side of the creek making it the perfect spot for serene relaxation. Following upstream is an assortment of spots to pitch a tent. The most notable sites are surrounded by hemlock tree's and is peaceful when birds chirp over the small rapids echoing from the large overhang
*I am in the process of making multiple sites but until I do so it is first come first serve. There are multiple sites at main campsite and along creek, I've had a private event of thirty people staying at once. There are also smaller spots next to waterfall, uphill near cliff and I've had people go below falls for some complete wilderness (blocked by gorge and waterfall). With this being said, I do offer private bookings and accommodate special events!
*I travel for work, so I won't always be here, but I will send directions and details after confirmation and make sure all is savvy during. Please be respectful to one and another and let me know asap if any issues arise but truthfully everyone has been amazing and I thoroughly enjoy meeting and getting to know everyone!

Primitive campsites range from soft and scenic rolling fields with mountainous backdrops to completely wooded areas with the wild Rockastle River within 1 mile from the property. Discover a rare campsite available between two cliffs that the Native Americans originally called home. It remains just as they found it. There is an easily accessible large flat cliff area perfect for multiple tents and campfires! However, if a little more comfort is your style, you can unplug and unwind in a two story cabin located on a beautiful and secluded 2 acre pond with a dock and pier that can be reserved for $85 nightly. I classify the Lakehouse Cabin as primitive glamping! Wildlife is present every single day! We are near two Wildlife management reserve areas and completely surrounded by the Daniel Boone National Forrest. Deer, turkey and so much more can be observed daily in their natural habitat. This is truly an amazing and rare gem right here in our beloved Bluegrass State!

This area is an old tobacco and cattle farm on a point above Laurel Lake. We do a bit of farming and crafting when we can and thought we’d try and share our lovely spot! Much of the timber on the place is nearly 100 years old hardwoods, with a couple of fields throughout. I camp here myself too, and can recommend it for privacy!

Weekend Trip to The Harrican Lakehouse
Peaceful slice of heaven in the bluegrass! Bridgett is very welcoming. Once you are checked in, you will feel like you are in your own world. It’s so relaxing and tranquil being right on the water. The wrap around porch gives the perfect place to sit and enjoy sunrises and sunsets!
Perfect place for a couple or family to get away and make memories.
Happy to be a return customer. Looking forward to another future visit to the Hurrican.

We camped for 13 days. I would recommend Mrs. Amber and her staff a hundred times over. Herself and her staff Ms. Abbey and Mr. Payten are amazing people. First our battery died and Mrs Amber had stepped away from the site So while she was away she contacted Ms. Abby at her other job ,to come and jump us . When Ms. Abby arrived it was astonishing to see a well round and grounded 18 yr old these days who would leave there job just to give someone a jump. Thanks again Ms Abby. The bathroom was warm showers were hot yes hot in the winter months. We stayed with Mrs. Amber 13 days beautiful sight even when it rained I got in 2 days of fishing the best time ever. If you don't go see Mrs Amber and her staff You would miss out on a lot canoeing, honey, you name it Mrs. Amber has including but not limited to amazing and friendly neighbors we even took long walks. Compassionate, polite, respectful. You get all the bells and whistles with this camp grounds They treat like a human being and not like $$$$ dollar signs. She has electric cabins and wagons, RV hookups We can't say enough about This site Other than. CAMP, RV OR GLAMP HERE YOU WON'T REGRET YOUR CHOICE OH YES SHE HAS FRESH MEAT,,EGGS AND THE fresh produce is down the street with Walmart 6 miles from you on your way to Walmart you bypass a huge water park. The house is beautiful, with a thoughtful and welcoming use of space that made it easy for all of us to spread out. Brittney truly has the art of hospitality, and it shows in every detail of the home.
Although it rained most of the weekend, we still spent time outdoors under the porch, mesmerized by the raindrops falling on the lake—a simple but magical experience. The beds were comfortable, making for cozy nights in.
A few suggestions for future guests: bring paper towels, dish soap, a pillow and snuggle blanket for winter, a sponge for the sink, extra toilet paper (especially for three women!), and an open mind for time away. Two of our three phones worked but not consistently, so plan accordingly.
Overall, this is a serene and welcoming home perfect for a getaway with friends. We will be back.

We absolutely loved our stay at Bridgett’s Harrican Lakehouse! The property is exactly as described and the photos are completely accurate. Our family stayed from late December to early January and the cooler weather didn’t stop us from enjoying kayaking, canoeing, hiking, relaxing on the porch, and so much more. We can’t wait to return when the weather is warmer, so we can add swimming and fishing to our list of activities :-)
Bridgett was incredibly kind and communicated regularly before and throughout our stay. I HIGHLY recommend The Harrican Lakehouse and we will definitely be coming back!

We only stayed one night, as we were traveling. The sight was large with a beautiful river behind us. My dogs enjoyed being off leash. The only bathroom appeard to be a family bathroom as there was shampoo, soap and a used towel hanging up, but we didn't have to use it. Overall it was a good experience.

We loved our stay at the Harrican Lakehouse. It’s peaceful, clean, and tucked right between the trees and the water — exactly the kind of quiet reset we were hoping for. My husband tried his hand at fishing off the dock, our dog explored freely, and I soaked up the stillness with some cross‑stitching and a soundtrack of 70s Love Songs drifting through the day. Campfires, good food, and even a few rounds of cards made it the perfect weekend getaway.
Notes for Future Visitors
A few practical things that might help you plan:
• The coffee maker is a small one (about 5 cups), so bring a larger one if you need more.
• The indoor stairs are very steep. Our dog could go up with help but needed to be carried/assisted coming down — something to keep in mind if you’re bringing a bigger four‑legged companion.
• There isn’t a traditional grill, but there is a Blackstone. The auto igniter wasn’t working, and there were no matches or a lighter in the cabin. We messaged Bridgett, and she immediately offered to have her husband come light it or to lend us a small charcoal grill. We borrowed the charcoal grill and cooked our steaks with no problem — great hospitality.
Overall, this lakeshore spot is a 10/10 for anyone wanting a calm, cozy escape surrounded by nature.

I loved the lake house! Waking up and watching the ducks on the lake while we prepared breakfast was a delight. We watched newts (we think?) play in the water during the day and walked in the woods. By night, we enjoyed the fire pit and had cozy times in the house playing board games and cuddling with our dogs. This was truly a dream location and can’t wait to come back.

This cabin won me over the moment I walked in. It was warm, cozy, and the loft was surprisingly spacious. The porch is the real showstopper, and even though it was too cold to sit out for long, the views from every window were gorgeous. It even started snowing while we were there, which added this wild, magical atmosphere to the whole stay.
The only downsides were the not-so-comfy seating, the heat being a little too powerful overnight, and the outhouse being a long chilly walk with a very rustic setup. None of it ruined the experience, but it is worth knowing before you go.
Leslie loved the lake and all the open space to explore. I even had to hop in a kayak to fetch her ball when she refused to wade into the cold water, which felt like peak dog mom adventure energy. Slippers were clutch since the floors get cold and they were perfect for padding out onto the porch.
The best moment was watching the sunrise roll in over the misty lake. Quiet, spooky, peaceful, and absolutely beautiful. I would stay again without hesitation.

We felt very welcomed, it's a beautiful and secluded property with a beautiful creek for canoeing or kayaking. We had clouds but i expect the stargazing would be spectacular. Lots of songbirds and deer, beautiful fall color. Perfect temporary home for hunters, we met a few, fascinating for us city people. Bathroom and shower clean and warm. There is a large sheltered area with chairs and grills in case of inclement weather. We didn't meet the donkeys but could see them across the field. Recommended!
