We stayed at the Dixon Hilltop Campsite. It is beautiful and secluded. If you like primitive camping - this is the place for you. Sunrises over the hill with a cup of cowboy coffee are amazing. Our kids were able to roam around, but we still felt very safe and comfortable with them out of our site. Kokovoko Farm is a lovely "little" working farm. If you take the time to talk to the host Leslie you will get lots of lovely little insights to the farm and a great history of the Gotland ponies she raises.
Fair warning this is primitive camping and about as close to backpacking with out moving everyday that you can get. So if you expect easy camping with electricity, toilets and lots of water - this is not for you. If that sound great to you then this is the perfect little slice of camping heaven!

What a fantastic place! My daughter and I had a lovely weekend of camping in the country, it was so peaceful and quiet. Only 35 min to the KY horse park, and we had the best time helping Leslie feed her ponies, chickens, peafowl, and cats in morning! Highly recommend, and hope to come back!

Very remote and serene, A little tricky to find the actual camp in the field but that just added to the adventure!
The only sight besides nature is a cute little church in the far distance.
I will most certainly return!!

This secluded location was the perfect spot for star gazing! It was absolutely delightful seeing all the fireflies in the meadow too. I would visit this location again.

I loved tent on their land and very quiet. It’s really so nice! Their direction is very clear to arrive there. And others Just be aware in your mind watch out of ticks. Than that other all is good!

Me and my bestfriend loved staying here! The bug beetles were so friendly and loved sitting on our clothes at the campfire! Totally an unforgettable experience! The ponies were so cute and Leslie was super friendly!

We recently stayed at Dixon Hilltop on Hipcamp, and it was the perfect place to camp with our family of 4. The campsite is located in a secluded spot in the woods, with plenty of space to spread out. We slept in hammocks in the woods, but there was plenty of open space and a fire pit to set up tents.
During our stay, we saw a variety of wildlife, including owls, deer, and turkeys. The stars were also amazing, and we spent many hours stargazing. The view from the campsite is incredible, and we only wish we could stay another night. We will be back!

Beautiful spot on a hilltop. If it would have been rainy or wet, our small car may have had trouble making it up the hill, but it's not a far walk if you have to carry things up the hill. Plenty of room for tents!

Great little camping trip. Camped off the back side of the farm, simply a field, fairly quiet (a little road noise here and there) but overall quiet! You could tell no one had been back there for a bit, but if you don’t mind some high weeds/grass, you’ll be just fine. We recommend bringing wood in just in case of some rain.
We did book a little tour of the farm that was up the road, Leslie was great and seeing the ponies made our day! We even had the pleasure of meeting some of her neighbors who had tried to invite us over for a bonfire- unfortunately, with Verizon we had no service so we missed the message, will definitely be back to take advantage of that invite! Great little weekend getaway.

Pretty place, and not too far from Lexington. I did a solo overnight “moto-camp” on my dual sport motorcycle. I stayed at site 2, which is on top of a hill. I passed campers at site 1 on the way in, and flashed a peace sign. I could just see their site from my location, but only if I looked for them. I hope my drone flying for a bit that evening didn’t bother them (I avoided it in the morning, as tempting as the light fog was for photography).
The site is neat, with an old house (or barn?) with a couple of grated wells or cisterns that had me worried I’d be thinking of “The Ring” overnight. I had no unscheduled visitations from man or beast, though, so all was well.
There is indeed plenty of firewood, but you’re going to have to cut and process it yourself. That was fine by me (my first time doing it). You will want at least a pruning saw (that’s all I had), but if you want anything larger you will need a hatchet, IMO. It’s fun to wander the property in search of wood though, and there are lots of neat little corners to explore.
One drawback was it was difficult for me to find a really level piece of ground for my small-ish tent (REI Half Dome 2+). I ended up with a door aligned with the fire ring, with the old barn/house in the distance. It worked OK. Maybe you’ll do better.
Overall a really nice experience.

My wife and I had a great time here, and our dog loved it! The only sounds we heard were farm animals and birds - it was very relaxing.
Clean, quiet campsite with lots of space and privacy - plenty of dead wood for a fire as well!
