Paradise Park and River Retreat

2 sites · RVs1 acre · Old Town, FL
My father bought the property next door to the RV sites over 30 yrs ago. After his passing,  my husband and I acquired the property. We initially were going to be snowbirds and make this our winter vacation home. After much thought and many winters in PA, we decided to sell our home and make the move south. It was a difficult decision to leave our family,  friends and what was comfortable to us. About 3 years after our move, our neighbor asked if we were interested in his property. My husband Jeff and I discussed it and thought it would be a great idea to have a little more land. To make a long story short, that land somehow became Paradise Park River Retreat. My husband and I love this area and wanted to share it with other people who love being outdoors. We hope you'll come and visit Old Pine Landing and see the beauty and uniqueness that our little piece of paradise has to offer.

FloridaBlueSky Camp Sites

4 sites · RVs1 acre · Perry, FL
This is the beautiful wild coast of Florida's "Big Bend." Located halfway between Perry to the north and Steinhatchee to the south, Keaton Beach is an outpost town with a laidback, relaxing atmosphere. No motels, no fast food. The wild, natural public beach has a shaded picnic area, restrooms, a boat ramp and a 700-foot fishing pier. These are prime scalloping waters from mid to late summer, and the area is famous for year-round fishing. We recently bought this property with an old hunting cabin owned by a well known baseball coach. The cabin is currently transformed into a residence. We have 4 RV spots available in the front of the property.. Only an 8 minute drive to the sandy swimming beach of Keaton Beach (see pic above) or 20 min walking distance to Adams Sunset Beach. Stop by on your way to South Florida or up north. We do not have a maximum stay.. We have 50/30 and 15 amp sites available. 2 back it, 1 drive in, 1 pull through site. 2 sites are full hook up, 1 site 50 amp electric and water. 1 site 20 amp electric only. If you see "occupied" in the calendar we probably still have sites available. (we have a total of 4) Just contact us using a "free" day. What can you do in our area? Keaton Beach swimming area, fishing, legally ATV riding on miles of dirt roads, golf carts allowed on public streets, nature trails for hiking and bird watching, Hagen Cove Park is one of the darkest spots in Florida for stars watching, dinner at the Nowhere Grill with the famous Philly Cheesesteak Sandwich, a day trip to Tallahassee with the Railroad Square ( 55 min ) Lafayette Blue Springs State Park (40 min ), St. Marks Lighthouse (55 min )

MAC Campground

6 sites · RVs, Tents3 acres · Perry, FL
MAC Campground is on 3 acres just a hundred feet or so off of the coast! We currently have 8 campsites. A very family friendly Campground. A great place for fishing and scalloping. Lots of public hunting ground so if you love deer, turkey or wild pig hunting, this is the place for you! Keaton Beach is a beautiful beach also! Beautiful white sand and very friendly people. I suggest downloading a tide app so you can watch the tides daily. When the tide is at it's highest is the best time for swimming and when they are low it's difficult to swim because it's only a couple foot of water but that is a great time to go exploring! Water shoes are great if you're nervous about walking in the grassy waters. The beach turns grassy a couple hundred feet out. Dogs are not allowed on the beach but we have some spots close to us that your doggo can swim and cool off from the heat. Our canal is a good place for the dogs to swim too! Our private canal is great and you are welcome to fish in it. Red Fish and Spotted Trout have both been caught in here! There is also a small private boat ramp that you can rent from the owner. It's $200 a year and this will save you from waiting on the very long lines at Keaton Boat Ramp. A great option for people that are wanting to stay long term or coming down multiple weekends throughout the year. The phone number for the boat ramp rental is 850-584-9324! They do require you to sign a waiver and keep a key to use the ramp. My wife Jessica and I fulltime in our RV and will be staying at the Campground the majority of the year. We have two wonderful kids Maverick (12) and Charley (10). Hince where MAC comes from! We all enjoy the outdoors and love to be around fun people. We are currently getting our Captains license and would love to charter you on a scallop adventure, on your dream off shore fishing trip or just going out after Reds and Trout! We are excited to host you and our aim is to make sure you have the time of your life while you visit us here at MAC Campground in Cedar Island! See you soon!!

Suwannee River Hideaway Campground is known for its 1,500-foot boardwalk through the untouched beauty of the natural wetlands leading to the historic Suwannee River. The park consists of 122 acres which assures a serene and tranquil experience to wander and explore your surroundings. Sit back and relax or take a stroll along the river's edge to 'Jim's Place' where you can have a picnic beside the spring-fed creek as it flows into the river. Serenity Oasis

1 site · RV, Tent3 acres · Steinhatchee, FL
We purchased our 3.39 acres two years ago and all that was on it was a RV and lots of pine trees, palmettos, woods and a small pond in the front of the property.  Over those two years we have turned it into our little piece of heaven.  We've added two more RV hookups which our son parked his camper on one.  We built a fully furnished cook shed and on the back side of it we have an enclosed fish cleaning area.  The cook shed also has an enclosed eating area.  In addition, we build a full size bath house / laundry room for the convenience of our campers.  We cleared out the back of our property and had a large fish pond dug and it is actually spring fed.  We have stocked it with all kinds of fish.  We have a dock that goes out to the pond and you can stand and feed the fish.  If you like to fish you can catch and release.  There is also a table and chairs out next to it if you want to sit and relax.Learn more about this land:Quiet 3.39 acres with a RV hookup, two ponds, a separate bathhouse/laundry room on the premises in addition to a cook shed with grills and cookers (propane included) along with fish cleaning station. We have a fire pit available to use (wood included). We're located approximately a mile from the boat ramp and Roy's restaurant where you can enjoy beautiful sunsets. Keaton Beach is just 17 miles from us which has a nice little beach and beautiful scenery.

Camping near Steinhatchee with campfires guide

Overview

Steinhatchee sits on a river of the same name. The town leads right into the Gulf of Mexico, so many camping spots come with coastal views and beach access. Granted, the town of Steinhatchee is small and quaint, especially compared to the size and scope of Florida’s Big Bend Region and Nature Coast. However, you’ll find plenty to do, both on land and in water. Nature lovers will gravitate toward Steinhatchee Falls, Florida’s most spectacular waterfall, while all campers will enjoy canoeing, kayaking, and picnicking along the river.

Where to go

Big Bend Wildlife Management Area

The Big Bend Wildlife Management Area pairs the blue waters of the Gulf Coast with the green land of the area’s campgrounds. The wildlife preserve comes with hiking trails, as well as recreation areas, picnic tables, and boat ramps. The area’s most unique charm, however, is its wildlife. While camping, you’re likely to spot birds, fish, and up to 100 species of butterflies. Clearly, both campers and animals thrive in this diverse habitat.

Steinhatchee Springs Wildlife Management Area

En route to another wildlife preserve, you’ll pass RV, tent, and cabin campsites that come with a range of views. Steinhatchee Springs Wildlife Management Area combines Florida’s signature vistas. Think: cypress swamps, verdant forests, and rows of pine trees. Once you check-in to a nearby campsite, you can ride horses, bike, hike, fish, and hunt. If you’d prefer a more peaceful getaway, you can alternatively sit back and take in the landscape’s beauty.

Down Florida’s Nature Coast

Florida’s Nature Coast passes through Steinhatchee, as well as the surrounding coastal towns. Boaters and fishermen will flock to the tranquil shores of Horseshoe Beach, though camping spots in the area vary. Some campgrounds come with RV hookups and picnic tables, while other campsites offer recreation areas and fire pits. No matter where you go, you’ll never be far from the Gulf of Mexico and its coastal views.

When to go

For the most comfortable camping experience, visit campgrounds in Steinhatchee, Florida when the days are warm, but not scorching. Avoid the muggy and humid summer months in favor of the more temperate seasons. You’ll want to plan your trip for fall through spring, when the nights are pleasant enough to sleep under the stars—and cool enough to curl up in your sleeping bag.
