Moondancing Meadows
12 sites · Lodging, RVs, Tents5 acres · Ocala, FLIn 2020 a few friends asked if they could hold a few wellness retreats on our property out of the blue. we loved hosting so much, we decided to do this full time! It has evolved from pitching regular camping tents, to the luxurious glamping tents we have today! When it came time to name our property, we used a cute pet name, Dru uses for me, Moondance, as inspiration for Moondancing Meadows. Moondancing Meadows is a back-to-nature wellness glamping facility. We believe in enjoying the abundance of nature, with a few creature comforts. Our five canvas glamping bell tents are nestled in to nature. All the tents have a beautiful Florida forest view and is located in a private area of the campground. They have all been beautifully furnished with real mattresses, sitting area, storage, indoor and outdoor lighting, along with other perks. In the summer, the tents have battery operated fans and the tents are well ventilation. In the winter, we offer propane heaters as an add on. Each site has its own personal touch such as a hammock, picnic table, or private seating area. The trails are all well lit by solar lights. We also offer four primitive camping sites around our community fire ring. There is a community outhouse like no other outhouse you have seen and a beautiful community outdoor shower with hot water. We have a community fire pit for all to enjoy. We have a charcoal grill available in this area as well. We also offer a kitchen kit that includes a propane stove, accessories, and coffee for an additional cost. Check in time is 3pm or later, Check out time is 12pm Our goal is to provide a perfect balance of peaceful connection with self and nature coupled with a connection to community. Please check our Facebook page to see if we are hosting any events during your stay. Dude's Off Grid Camp
6 sites · RVs, Tents2 acres · Interlachen, FLWe recently purchased this beautiful property from Matt and Rachel so please bear with us while we work on making changes to this page. The campsites will be as they are listed. I’m very excited about sharing some of this with you. This off the grid property has been in building stages since 2018 and features multiple solar systems. There are three tent camping spaces, and one RV space. All guests have access to our shared bath house with large open air shower and flush toilet. This property is not super large at 2ac but we rarely book more than a couple sites at a time so it's rarely crowded and whichever spot you choose you have access to the other spots to walk to the pond if unoccupied. Only site 2 and 3 has pond views. But at all our sites you will be under trees, and mostly shaded. Our property is primarily 21/up. We do have a dog and two cats living here with us. Dogs are not allowed but we are willing to talk to you about your pet and to see if it could be OK. Our animals are family. It is their home and I want them always to feel safe. Thank you for understanding. We would also limit the length of stay to five days unless we talk and make a different agreement.

Steinhatchee sits on a river of the same name. The town leads right into the Gulf of Mexico, so many camping spots come with coastal views and beach access. Granted, the town of Steinhatchee is small and quaint, especially compared to the size and scope of Florida’s Big Bend Region and Nature Coast. However, you’ll find plenty to do, both on land and in water. Nature lovers will gravitate toward Steinhatchee Falls, Florida’s most spectacular waterfall, while all campers will enjoy canoeing, kayaking, and picnicking along the river.

Where to Go

Big Bend Wildlife Management Area

The Big Bend Wildlife Management Area pairs the blue waters of the Gulf Coast with the green land of the area’s campgrounds. The wildlife preserve comes with hiking trails, as well as recreation areas, picnic tables, and boat ramps. The area’s most unique charm, however, is its wildlife. While camping, you’re likely to spot birds, fish, and up to 100 species of butterflies. Clearly, both campers and animals thrive in this diverse habitat.

Steinhatchee Springs Wildlife Management Area

En route to another wildlife preserve, you’ll pass RV, tent, and cabin campsites that come with a range of views. Steinhatchee Springs Wildlife Management Area combines Florida’s signature vistas. Think: cypress swamps, verdant forests, and rows of pine trees. Once you check-in to a nearby campsite, you can ride horses, bike, hike, fish, and hunt. If you’d prefer a more peaceful getaway, you can alternatively sit back and take in the landscape’s beauty.

Down Florida’s Nature Coast

Florida’s Nature Coast passes through Steinhatchee, as well as the surrounding coastal towns. Boaters and fishermen will flock to the tranquil shores of Horseshoe Beach, though camping spots in the area vary. Some campgrounds come with RV hookups and picnic tables, while other campsites offer recreation areas and fire pits. No matter where you go, you’ll never be far from the Gulf of Mexico and its coastal views.

When to Go

For the most comfortable camping experience, visit campgrounds in Steinhatchee, Florida when the days are warm, but not scorching. Avoid the muggy and humid summer months in favor of the more temperate seasons. You’ll want to plan your trip for fall through spring, when the nights are pleasant enough to sleep under the stars—and cool enough to curl up in your sleeping bag.
