The FOLC Farm (Florida Outdoor Learning Collective) is a homestead, outdoor learning center, and community event space in Gainesville, FL. This is the closest camping site to Gainesville. Situated on 5 wooded acres, The FOLC Farm is only minutes from downtown Gainesville and the University of Florida by car or bike trail, and within walking distance of Payne's Prairie State Park La Chua Trail, Boulware Spring, Sweetwater Preserve trail system, and the Hawthorne bike trail. Guests are welcome at the occasional public social events held onsite (separate from the campground). At The FOLC Farm, you will find the perfect blend of nature, culture, and convenience.
At the entrance of the property is a self-contained, family-friendly campground with nine non-electric sites (five tent sites and four car camping sites). You may also rent the entire campground for your private group (please message to inquire). At the campground, you have access to a shared campfire, picnic tables, grill, composting toilet, sink with running water, shower with hot water, changing room, and some art supplies and games to enjoy during your stay. The host lives on the homestead and is available if you need assistance.
Please note:
As with state park campgrounds, your pet must be kept leashed or in your personal tent at all times. Dogs who bark or may become aggressive with people they do not know are not allowed at The FOLC Farm as there may be other campers near you. If your dog is barking, growling, being a nuisance to others, or is off leash, you will be required to leave.
The five tent sites are within the campground circle where no cars are allowed for camper safety. The parking area is within 150 feet (45 meters) of the various sites, and a cart is available to move your gear. Sites are 25–50 feet (8–15 meters) apart.
This wooded 5-acre property is very close to thousands of acres of state park land and also adjacent to a rural/suburban neighborhood. Therefore, you can expect to hear both typical neighborhood sounds (cars, children) as well as wildlife such as Barred Owls, Sandhill Cranes, and occasional deer visits.

Private, peaceful camping is available with full RV hook-up that includes sewer, 50 amp electric with a 30 amp adapter, and water. Your campsite is located right in the heart of our farm.
While at your site, you will see and surely be entertained by our goats, sheep, horse, Charlie and Dottie Mae our Kunekune pigs, chickens, Eduardo our turkey, and many more. The wildlife that you see is dependent on the season but likely includes deer, sand cranes, and the occasional bald eagles.
Pets are welcome. We just ask for the safety of our farm friends that they stay on a leash.
A fire pit and picnic table is at each site.
We also include animal feed so you can feed the animals through the fence at your leisure. We kindly ask that you only feed them their feed and no other feed to ensure their health.
For those needing grocery delivery. Instacart and Shipt delivers to Collins Farm on a regular basis.

We loved our stay in the RV at Joshuas Camp. It was very clean and updated. Good toilet and shower. Don’t expect anything crazy from an RV bathroom, but this one was good and had a configurable water heater for your shower. Many places to sleep, comfortable enough after a long day of paddle boarding. The outdoor area was nice and the grill was remarkably clean. Great spot if you plan to go to Rainbow Springs, we got there at 0745 and were some of the first on the water.

My friend and I have been doing this yearly camping trip for 20+ years now. Since we're older now, we like sleeping in RVs and this one was great. Nice spot. Very close to fun/local breakfast places (The Breakfast Station and The Front Porch) and the typical grocery stores for supplies. We love to sit around and talk and catch up so this site was perfect for us. We did make a fire one night and the fire ring is well built.

Franks spot is such a cool hidden gem. It’s off a quiet local road, maybe about 200 or so feet for the power/water sites I was at - so traffic is minimal. Tent campers at rustic sites fare even better, probably around 400 feet from the road. Either way - a car only passes once about every 5-10 minutes at rush hour - significantly less frequent during quieter hours - and all you need is a set of cheap earplugs if you are super sensitive to road noise. I slept inside my vehicle and I didn’t hear anything.
Frank is super accommodating and flexible. He lives on site so you know no shenanigans are going to happen - super safe. The sites are fairly close together however even on a holiday weekend it was just me and another camper in our area - 2-3 sites separated us.
the property even has an onsite bar - unfortunately I didn’t get to visit since I was in the area for scuba diving at the local springs - devils den and blue Grotto are about 20 minutes down the road.
As far as restrooms and showers go - the showers are fairly close to the hookup sites - maybe a 50-75 foot walk - the ports Johns are over by the bar around 200-300 feet away. I do wish they had a set of portajohns close to the shower area - but all in all no big deal.
Exceptional value for the price honestly and I totally intend on camping here again - this time hitting up the bar lol
