This is my second trip to Elizabeth's spot in Gainesville and it was fantastic as usual! The location is secluded, had deer feeding through the yard each morning, a bunch of birds under the bird feeder and just a really nice peaceful setting for a camp. Full hookups are perfect, no issues. Good water pressure and a nice place to park. Really convenient to all the places we like to go like the Depot Park area where First Magnitude Brewing is at, Boxcar Beer Garden, and Grand Scheme Brewery. Although I have yet to take her up on the generous offer of the scooters she has those available as well. But this time we brought our bikes and peddled all over campus since college was out for the summer and that was fun to explore. As far as non-brewery things to do it's not far from Paynes prairie, a few great city parks in Gainesville, and devil's Mill Hopper Park is about 20 minute drive. Really great place to stay if you want to be active and explore the surrounding area. Even better, is Elizabeth's place and her letting us experience it. If you need a place to stay in the area it is well worth the stop!

Downtown Nature Retreat
This lovely quiet site is close to Depot Park and the Gainesville-Hawthorne Trail. Bring your bikes or you walking shoes as you are close to restaurants and First Magnitude Brewing (a 3 minute bike ride to food trucks and live music) as well as a sort ride to the northern part of Paynes Prairie Preserve. The host is very responsive and we enjoyed meeting her upon arrival. We loved this quiet spot with lots of bird song in the morning.

Downtown Nature Retreat
The downtown nature retreat hosted by Elizabeth was so lovely. She was such a gracious host, greeting us with a 6 pack from her favorite brewery upon our arrival. Her property is gorgeous and close to awesome amenities downtown as well as a rail trail and park within walking distance. Our dog loved the large fenced in yard and grass, and we can’t recommend staying here enough if you’re in the area!

This was our first time at a Hipcamp and The Downtown Nature retreat did not disappoint. Great communication before arrivel, directions into the site were perfect. Our host greeted us with 6 pack of beer from First Magnitude Brewery.
The site was close to the UF campus. The fenced yard was large, clean and perfect for our 75lb doodle. Our host Elizabeth was there if we needed but did not intrud. We will be back!

great space to visit my daughter at the Swamp- we needed a campground when our normal area was booked. It was a better place in the long run.

This is a great hipcamp.
The name Downtown Nature Retreat is a perfect name. You are close to parks, bike paths, dog park and museums; this the downtown part. But at the end of the day or the beginning of your day you are certainly in a nature retreat.
Wonderful hosts that are ready to help any way they can but also give you privacy.
Our dog Ollie loved the fenced in yard for bit of freedom!
We would recommend this in a heartbeat and loved Gainesville to the point we looked at a couple of houses that were for sale.

Great site! The property is a little deceiving at the end of a short dead end street but once you get through the gate it's a huge yard with plenty of room to get your rig into position. Very good site, lots of grass, level and has asphalt millings to park on. Great water pressure and 30amp service, so if you are like me and have 50amp trailer, just be sure to pack your adapter. Sewer hookup is a little far but just pay attention to where you park in relation to the utility hookups, I had to reposition but once I was set,everything worked perfectly!
Can't say enough about how friendly and kind Elizabeth was, greeted us talked about our plans and made lots of recommendations. We were there for parks and breweries so she got us sorted. Paynes Prairie is really close and is spectacular. Gainesville has several city parks nearby that are great too. First Magnitude Brewing and Grand Scheme Brewing are close enough to walk and was the other half of the reason we were there.
Nights were very quiet on the property. Not a peep out of the neighbors and pretty sure some deer were feeding on the grass with the full moon when we got back from the brewery and they jumped the fence.
Can't recommend this enough. Friendly host and great location!

Wow. Let me start by saying I took a fence post out with our camper on the way in and she greeted us with a six pack from a local brewery!!!! Sooo gracious while I was horrified! There was plenty of room for our 32’ 5th wheel so 100% my fault. We reported the incident to our insurance company and I contacted fence companies to repair. Before I could get a telephone quote to repair, Betsy brought out a fence post and replaced it! Not only that, but Mark took off the damaged panel from our camper so it wouldn’t flap in the wind going down the road AND they left it for their trash company to pick up. Such welcoming and helpful hosts. Great communication when you need them and leave you be when you don’t. As for the property, it’s beautiful, well maintained, shaded, level, and fully fenced so our mutt enjoyed some freedom. It’s on a dead end road and we felt very safe. 4 bars and 5G with T-Mobile so hot spot worked good. Very convenient to everything. Great bike trail practically next door to walk to town (hello brewery!) and Betsy offered tips on things to do. We’ve stayed at 15-20 Hipcamps over the years, and this one is at the top! Did I mention she greeted us with a six pack??? Who does that!

Hotel was cancelled a week before our trip and most close places were booked due to large music festival. Thankfully we were only about an hour away and could drive our RV down. Great hosts, great location. We saw deer in the yard in the morning and less than a mile from a lot of downtown Gville. Thank-you for everything.
