Salida area is also home to a ton of hiking (14'ers anyone?) and mountain biking trails. The Royal Gorge is a quick 30 minute drive with restaurants and other fun near Canon City. The Sand Dunes are 90 minutes and Monarch Ski Area is 45, we have some of the best bird watching! Warbling Vireo, Western Wood-peewee, Cassin's Kingbird to name a few.

We offer a parking spot at night to have a quick safe place to stay. We do not allow the camper to stay multiple continuous days without leaving as you must leave during the day time, but are welcome to return at night. ---We sometimes have Buses leaving or returning to our facility late at night, so just know you might hear a large bus pulling in late at night. ---PLEASE DO NOT block our Iron Gate with the H on it, or stick out into the entrance of the facility. If you stick out too far, you need to park North to South , which is parallel to the wood fence with the customer parking signs on it. You can block the handicap signs also if needed. You are also welcome to park in between the building and the front garden bed area as well if you prefer. The ground is not too level there, so you will need to level your rv.

We loved the accessibility of this location! We had a blast with our toddler biking all around enjoying the little downtown, parks and super close indoor pool. Their office has stuff for kiddos, supplies and ice which was a luxury we were missing in our long trip! We loved being right on the creek too. Would absolutely come back!

What a great time! We stayed at Observer Ranch, I picked this one on Hipcamp expecting a regular campground. It was not! They had full hookups and dry camping. Their main building is incredible, with a sensory/games room. A large room they host classes in and when classes aren’t happening they happily let our kids run all around. They have a bike rack full of bikes you can use while there if you don’t have one. Awesome shower rooms/bathrooms, and a pretty nice laundry room. We played chess outside on their giant chess board, chased (and caught) a couple lizards. Saw a bunny and the most amazing night skies. You can see the Milky Way galaxy above. And beautiful mountains all around. Their shop is super cute! Observer ranch shirts and merchandise. The camping essentials like s’mores ingredients, candy and the coolest MOVA globes. The sensory room had a library with books for kids and adults. Their deck overlooks beautiful land with Adirondack chairs to sit and watch. When thunderstorms come look at the mountains, they are gorgeous. You can see the rain falling in the distance, lighting close and far away. Just a really great experience. Everyone working there was so nice, helpful, laid back and patient. My kids had the best time there and honestly so did my husband and I. We will be back for sure!

We so enjoyed stayed at the Starlite vintage resort. It was such a unique place and so much to look at. We had our own camper and stayed in site 66 which was shaded and I felt like i was in my own world. Staff was exceptional. Close to everything in Gorge and beautiful views. Will look forward to staying there again.

This river site is hard to beat. While the campground itself is old and small, it’s very quaint. The rusted charcoal grills could be pitched and the small cracked picnic tables need to be replaced but nothing can compare to the giant cottonwoods hanging over the sites. And did I mention the gorgeous river? Plus you have to chat with the host, Neil. He’s a treat.
