We are a 5 acre property and home surrounded by tall redwood and oak trees. Very green and lots of shade. There is not cooking allowed by or at any of the common areas, due to flies and critters. Cooking and eating is only allowed by your sites and not in any common areas: Hammocks, Trampolines, Pool Area, tables, sink, and deck please follow this rule because we want to prevent our shared areas to be fly and bug infested. We are still working on ridding the flies and cleaning. (please try to bring prepackaged food or something easy. If anything you can drive 10 minutes to nearby food and grocery). In the past we let people cook and eat around the pool but now our whole property is fly infested and I find scattered leftovers on the ground. Thanks for understanding. THERE IS A 1-2 MINUTE HIKE TO THE CAMPSITES 1-5! Poolside campsites are closer to the parking and are bigger. CHECK OUT OUR NEW LODGING: This property is my home that I live in with my 2 kids. It is a rustic and homey vibe, definitely not a hotel. We want you to come knowing what to expect. Our property offers a pool, and trampolines for the kids. We have a deck patio area that overlooks an amazing view of the redwood forest. Most of our guests are those that come from foreign countries and they all LOVE the property. I love leaving a great impression of our area. CAMPGROUND GUIDELINES Pack out your trash. Rinse feet before using the pool. No pool toys or floaties. Always supervise kids. Don’t sit on chair edges or pool cover box. Use stumps or your own table for cooking (not ours). Keep the area clean—no food scraps on the ground. No dogs in the pool area; leashes and cleanup required. No eating in rooms or cabin. Check out on the deck. No smoking (vapes only, away from common areas). The creek is accessible although the final route requires a rope down so may not be suitable for everyone. Within 15-20 min drive you will find almost all major attractions in the Santa Cruz area including The Mistery Spot, Nisene Marks State Forest, Capitola Pier, Santa Cruz Beach Boardwalk, Henry Cowell Redwoods State Park, and many famous surf breaks from Capitola to The Point, The Hook, Steamer Lane and many more., as well as many amazing mountain bike trails. There are also several Santa Cruz Mountain wineries to explore in a 3- 5 mile radius. Further afield you will find Monterey Bay Aquarium and the coastal beaches north up to San Francisco Bay ( 1 hour 30 mins north) and down to Big Sur about 1 hour 20 mins south. We run a nonprofit outdoor education camp for underprivileged youth, so your stay supports our work to get youth outdoors. Winter lodging.... It can get seasonably cold in the Santa Cruz Mountains during the winter. If visiting in the winter, rest assured we have everything covered to enjoy your stay. We have propane heaters in all main spaces for your comfort. If the power goes out, we have a standby generator that will power up camp provided we are home to turn it on. We have a woodstoves in the Owl's Nest and Eagle's Nest. We provide a fire starter log for each woodstove for each night of your stay, and guests are responsible for bringing firewood to keep the woodstoves going for continued warmth throughout each evening.

We run a nonprofit outdoor education camp for underprivileged youth, so your stay supports our work to get youth outdoors. Winter lodging.... It can get seasonably cold in the Santa Cruz Mountains during the winter. If visiting in the winter, rest assured we have everything covered to enjoy your stay. We have propane heaters in all main spaces for your comfort. If the power goes out, we have a standby generator that will power up camp provided we are home to turn it on. We have a woodstoves in the Owl's Nest and Eagle's Nest. We really enjoyed our stay at Matt’s Fern Ridge Camper. It’s so convenient being close to the city 1 it made for an easy, relaxing weekend escape. The space is perfectly set up for a couple and offers great privacy. It had all the essentials (and a few nice extras), which made our stay comfortable and stress-free. Matt was very responsive and shared helpful recommendations that made the trip even better. We’d definitely stay again!

I love camping in the forest, it was absolutely beautiful. Only downside like everybody says is that it’s a little rough getting down to the campsites. Scott is an incredible host and was very helpful in directing us to the campsite as we arrived later and had trouble finding it. Make sure to have four wheel drive if you do not want to walk back and forth from your campsite to your car. It’s a bit of a walk especially with stuff. If you have four wheel drive though, it will be awesome.

Camp Cruz is a total gem! Ismael and his wife have created something really special here. The place is fully of character and charm and makes you feel at peace among nature while providing some truly awesome creature comforts (heated beds, anyone?!). The facilities were clean and well kept and as hosts they made sure we felt welcome and comfortable to relax for the weekend. Highly recommend for a couple's getaway or a group trip as there's plenty of space and a variety of activities.

Great for a romantic weekend on the coast! The views were INSANE, and it was so nice having a pizza oven, grill, and firepit. Everything was set up ahead of our arrival, and the host was very responsive. The camper was perfect for two people and very comfortable, as well. My partner and I spent Valentine's Day grilling and watching the sunset over the ocean--would highly recommend that experience!

Getting there means driving on a very narrow and winding road for about 5km. It is however well worth it. It feels very private and secluded even though there are houses sprinkled through the valley. Lots of room to set up and enjoy 360’ views from sunrise to sunset. My two dogs enjoyed the freedom of running around without having to stay tethered to my camper. Clean porta potty. I didn’t see any potable water but I’m sure I could get some from the host if I needed it. Given a chance in the future, I would return.
