Come see Lake Shaftsbury State Park! This 200 year old farm is at the top of a dead end road on 150 acres. It sits in a region of Bennington County formerly called Healing Springs Vermont. The springs that flow off of West Mountain come down through the farm and across Route 7 where they feed the picturesque state park! Arrive at our 150 acre property at the top of this dead-end road.. (Please stay left all the way up to the top...the road becomes our driveway).. Step out onto this 200-year-old farm at your own private site all of which are several acres each minimum.. Walk to streams ponds and Lake Shaftsbury State Park.

Stay left all the way up the Town road and park around back of this insulated post and beam barn which is set on a 200 year old stone foundation. Walk up the back stairs, switch for the lights is on your left on outside of barn and set up on this 25x40 heavy duty wood planked floor... Lots of light and lots of hiking and biking. Also feel free to enjoy a quiet walk around this picturesque property. Don't forget your darts and your favorite vinyl! (you are staying in a beautiful one of a kind timber frame barn... and the wood stove is great for cooking and heat but if it is super cold out you should come prepared). Also as is stated elsewhere in this listing.. this is basically a giant indoor campsite there is a wood stove, freezer, beds with sheets and pillows, couches... there are no kitchen cooking utensils pots pans plates forks knives provided)

No tent? No bother! Please stay left all the way up the Town road... Continue up past the barns to this cozy farm building and your own 5-acre field. This building has seen mixed uses over the years....from chicken coop to sheep shearing to garden shed to storage. Sheets, pillows and electricity provided ... One twin bed one full size bed both come with fresh linen... Sheet, fitted sheet, pillow, pillowcase... Outhouse right across the road.. Mountain spring water at spigot across the road...... Drinking water at spigot next to chimney at main house. Fire pit and three chairs right outside the building.. barbecue also provided... Please be advised to your basically getting an indoor campsite.. have fun!

Slowly drive up Timbertrail rd, ,(stay left until you reach the large white farmhouse)...pass the farmhouse then the barns and coops ...continue on to the TOP field on the right and drive onto a large, level site... look east to see awesome views of VT's Green Mountains... Large shade trees are in the pasture to enjoy. Only a few feet to a forest road for more shady options for your tent! With spring snow and wet fall leaves etc... all-wheel drive would be a plus but not absolutely necessary... Many ordinary sedans have no problem ..hybrids etc included

Secluded Bliss with Stunning Views

My stay at Michael’s Hipcamp was hands down the best car camping experience I’ve had! The location was stunning, right next to Arlington State Park, and even after the peak of the leaf-turning season, the fall colors were unbeatable. The site offered convenient access to Bennington and Manchester for that small-town vibe, but you could easily disconnect and enjoy the peacefulness of Michael’s property. The farm was easy to find, just off a main state road, and the camping site was clearly marked. Accessing the site is a breeze if you're an experienced offroad driver or have a 4-wheel drive vehicle. I recommend this site over others because it's more tucked away, situated at the top of the hill, with a fantastic view of both the property and the neighboring mountains. Additionally, Michael was an extremely friendly host who clearly takes a lot of pride in his property. It's wonderful that he's opened up his farm for others to enjoy. The care he puts into maintaining the site really shows, and it made the experience even more special. I’d love to see his farm thrive, and I look forward to staying here again in the future! This spot is perfect for nature lovers who appreciate a bit of solitude. However, I wouldn’t recommend it for those who dislike being without modern amenities or are not fond of the outdoors. That said, you’re not entirely isolated; with towns nearby, it’s the perfect balance between remote camping and staying close to civilization. Absolutely worth it!

Great camping site, Mike, thanks. Wanted to do a final campout when most state parks were closed. Stayed in MIke's cabin, two great beds, drove in and parked our camper nearby for water, cooking/making coffee. Sleeping bags for a cool night, sat looking up a small valley into great fall foliage. Outhouse nearby. Shaftsbury location is super. Stopped and did Robert Frost museum and hiked 2 miles on trail there. Great sandwiches at deli on RT 7A.

Beautiful property! We camped right under the big pine tree with a gorgeous view of the mountains in the background. Host was very nice and accommodating. Simple and scenic.

Camping at it best

Amazing land and the view is absolutely beautiful, especially for the foliage viewers. We spent most of our time at camp, and we enjoyed every moment spent there, except leaving. I would highly recommend Mike and his camp spots to anyone looking for a great camping experience.

This is one of my favorite VT camp sites. The view is spectacular and the privacy is great. If you have a desire to pitch a tent or park your van or small teardrop on a hill with a view, look no further. This is that place !

Always a great time…

Several times at Mike’s properties, first time at this one. We loved it! Gorgeous view, bright stars, lots of space. Just a heads up, you can see the guests to the right from this lot.

Utter Solitude and Magnificent View

This is our second time at this spot as it's such an incredible place! Sadly each time it's just an overnight on the way home, but we made it a point to get there fairly early to enjoy the view and solitude. Plenty of space for tents or to set up your truck camper like us. Even with folks at a neighboring site, you have complete privacy and feel as if you have the entire mountain to yourself. Well, absolutely, be back if/when our travels bring us through the area in the future!

The best hipcamp I've ever been to!

This was honestly the best hipcamp I've ever stayed at. I actually came back home feeling like I was in a dream. I needed a recharge and this was the perfect spot. It is so private but you have an outdoor shower and compost toilet there as well which is amazing. I got to cook food over the fire, read my book, and had the most amazing sleep. I will definitely be back!

We really enjoyed our stay. Arrived a little late, but were able to set up and enjoy an amazing fire under the big pine tree with the stars in full display. Super quiet and very peaceful. We definitely go back again.

Private, quiet picturesque...perfec

Completely private, peaceful, ideal place to escape for the evening ✨️ or more. With elder dogs, it was perfect because we didn't have to be concerned about others, yet we still knew we were close to others if we ever really needed anything. These pictures tell the story. Perhaps one of the most magic, cool evenings of ☀️ summer for us.

Always love staying at Timbertrail farm. Peaceful, beautiful and private. Heard coyotes at night in the distance and loved it. Clear sky at night and could see all the stars. So thankful that Mike let's folks stay at his farm.

This is a beautiful farm on the side of a wild mountain. We loved staying in the rustic chicken coop cabin, it was a nice intermediary kind of camping to do with a kid (especially one who loves playing “olden times”) and allows more space than a tent during a sudden rainstorm. The space felt very private. The meadow was full of wildflowers and hummingbirds and the trees were full of funny red squirrels. Mike was a helpful, welcoming host. We plan to come back soon!

The site felt so private and comfortable. We had a ton of space, the view of the stars and mountains was breathtaking. The drive into the site was so pretty through wildflowers, it was close to Bennington and lots of nice spots to explore. I would absolutely recommend staying here!

Wonderful campsite! I arrived biking the VTXL and was the first non rain day / evening. The place had a clearing looking south. Enjoyed the sunset, watching bats, started a fire and went to sleep to the forest sounds. A pair of owls woke me just before dawn. Morning dew and light fog burned off as the sun rose.
