This beautiful spot was re-forested with pine a number of years ago, and was sectioned off from the surrounding farmland, which is now maintained by the mennonite community.
It is 8 1/2 acres of wetland and forest, with a mown perimeter, and cool places to tuck into the forest for the night.
The current owner was a special educator, and now is slowly turning the land into her homestead.
There is a beautiful, spa quality outdoor shower next to a tidy and 'fancier than most' outhouse, a strawberry patch as well as wild alpine strawberries all over the property, a big dog and a small indoor cat keep her company.
Here is what the land offers:
-Bunkie in the Forest: A sweet 8x8 ft. space with new bunk and mattresses as of April 2023
-Strawberry Fields bunkie: an 10x12 space with a loft with a queen memory foam mattress and a main floor with a full futon and a small table
-Campsites: Meadow, Forest and River spots. Close to each other, but you'd never know it! All three are chill and serene places. The property backs onto a ten-foot swimming hole in an otherwise shallow part of the Saugeen River.

5G/LTE cellphone service is good for Bell, Rogers and Telus networks. We have 3 outhouses on the premises and an outdoor hot shower.
FREE Firewood can be gathered on the forest floor or pay for on-site pre-cut wood. Outhouses are close to campsites....but not too close 💩
Port Rowan is only 12 minutes away by car, most amenities can be purchased only 1 minute away at the local Busy Bee gas station.
We are situated in the middle of a Recreation Hotspot! Our site is within 3 minutes of paddling the Big Creek, 3 to 10 minutes to several A+ hiking trails, 15 minutes to amazing freshwater beaches of Long Point and Turkey Point, and the area is abound with cycling trails, motorcycle routes, geocaching, boat launches (we have room here for your boat!), cider/wine tours, and more! We are the perfect basecamp for everything the Long Point Bay area has to offer
We have some great watering holes nearby like burning kiln winery, hounds of Erie and Charlotteville brewing company.

The ‘Long Point Birding Area’ in Norfolk County is one of Canada’s premier birding locales. With over 400 species of birds observed, Long Point looms large as one of the most exciting places on the continent to observe our rich birdlife.

This is a secluded and quiet property tucked back off the road in the bush. Lots of room to roam, trees to relax under and let your dogs run. We have three dogs that roam the grounds and are a welcoming committee.
We have lots of sites tucked into the greenery for privacy. We operate a vintage trailer restoration shop on site and have lots of interesting units around.
There is firewood on property to purchase. We have a convenience station to wash dishes. Potable water and ice to purchase. We have showers outdoors with hot water.
The newest addition to the property are two goats that think they are dogs and will greet you.
We are on the boarder of a hiking trail that is accessible from the property. So if you’re looking for a hiking spot you can start here.

We are hosting a garage sale in coordination with the town of Wellesley June 6, 8am-1pm. There might be more visitors than usual that morning. If you’d like to come out for the sake you are more than welcome.

Our micro brewery is located here because of our springs. The campsites are within walking distance to the brewery. The sites are in the forest with either a view of the pond, of Cartwrights Creek or of the Ottawa valley from a hillside.
We have short hiking trails, some outdoor games such as horseshoes or beach volleyball, and we have beer.

FIRE: Andre will call for a permit every day. No fires before 6.
Fires are too be supervised at all times and have a bucket of water nearby. Please leave the bucket upside down after your stay too reduce mosquito population.
GARBAGE: Please collect garbage and bring it with you. We unfortunately cannot accept garbage at the brewery. The municipality limits us to one bag and we have animals that would love to rip through your garbage bag before I can get to it. PLEASE DO NOT LEAVE GARBAGE HERE!
FOOD... don't leave food out for animals to get overnight... If you don't have a car you can put your food in the silo by the brewery... animals can't get in there!

Welcome to Backwater Paradise in Northern Ontario. We are 15 minutes north off Trans Canada Highway, Blind River. 5-6 hours northwest of Toronto and 9 hours east of Thunder Bay, between Sault Saint Marie and Sudbury. Looking for a wilderness get away or just driving through? We can accommodate. Backwater Paradise has possibilities for several camping styles. whether you bring your own RV, easy tenting or choose to go deep and experience raw wilderness/survival in our Left Field. There is a water tower providing utility water for washing or extinguishing camp fires. We have a quiet atmosphere for new and savvy nature lovers. s. There are no lights on this lake which makes it perfect for star gazing. The main entrance is very well marked and leads to the lake. This is where we host RV sites and tent sites. All nature watchers and sky gazers will enjoy the spaces we have here. Moose, bald eagles. wolves, otters, beavers, bears, owls and several migratory birds are common visitors. You will get to hear whippoorwills, several species of frogs, crickets, and sometimes wolves/coyotes at night. It is very important that pets be kept on a leash. In the lake there is plenty of bass and pike to keep a fisher and kid fishers busy. Common gear will work here and strongly recommend using wire swivel leaders. We promote 'lake 2 plate' principles and if you need anything let us know!! All campers have use of the water front no matter where your site is. On the shore of the lake front is a very large common area and firepit and picnic tables for everyone to access and enjoy the water and the shoreline. We host fires Friday and Saturday nights weather permitting at this location. There are several firepit rings to allow campers to have their own camp fire and we sell hardwood. We also have a paddle boat rental. There is 30 acres of mixed forest, lake and marsh, and now we are able to be open year round. You will notice that some of the photos have brown for grass. Those are earlier pictures of when we first opened. All of our expanded areas are like that at first, and things have changed a lot over the last 4 years and, will continue to have "unkempt" areas as we continue to expand. Our newest listings this year are called Almost Paradise (shower unit) and more recently Rootbound Ranch (camping for those travelling with livestock or horses.) This also available for those that like to stay at a farm. If Backwater Paradise is full, you can enjoy the same attributes just across the road at Almost Paradise. Another site we have is Left Field. Its raw bush and field space in the center. This is where the marsh is. We are also working on a new trail between Backwater Paradise and Left Field and encourage our campers to enjoy the views of both of these spaces.

We were so happy to discover this beautiful spot just a short drive from Toronto. Nestled right next to the river, the campground is exceptionally clean and well-maintained.
Marcin and his wife were incredibly friendly, nice, and inviting. They keep both the sites and the facilities spotless and tidy, and they went out of their way to accommodate every request we had. The campsites back directly onto the river and are only a short walk from the beach. They also sell dry, high-quality hardwood, a huge improvement over the moldy, damp wood you often get at provincial parks. Another big plus is that they allow several families to share the same site, making it a much better option for group camping than the provincial parks.
Just a couple of practical tips: bring mosquito repellent, as you’re camping by the water, and pack for cooler, damper nights thanks to the river effect.
We would definitely book with Marcin again and highly recommend this place to anyone looking for a clean, convenient, and family-friendly riverside getaway.

Marcin was an extraordinary host! He goes above and beyond to make us have comfortable and enjoy our stay. He even toured us in his property. This camp is so beutiful. If you ever have an important event or milestone this place will be a perfect venue. The barn and the river are my top favorite sight! The campgrounds are so clean and flat. Even our little dog had the time of his life exploring the place. Our kids also enjoyed swimming in the river and the playground. They even have real bathrooms and showers. Thank you Marcin for hosting us. We will surely be back with a much bigger group of friends!

What a wonderful little campsite. We were looking for something not too far from Toronto but still dark enough to see the stars. This location did not disappoint. Everything was as advertised. We even left a critical piece of camping equipment at home and went to Joan directly for help: she stepped up huge and provided what we needed in that emergency. I highly recommend this place for anyone looking for a quick or not so quick getaway. Joan was an incredible host! Thank you!

Site D was huge - we were really under-utilizing it with just 3 people in 2 tents. Lots of more spots for tents, and even more good locations for hammocks.
Andre was very friendly and helpful.
The food options aren't fancy, but the corn dogs were really well done, and it was great not having to worry about carrying food or drinks for dinner on our bikes.
There were lots of mushrooms on site - I think both chanterelle and portobello among the edible varieties, although we weren't 100% confident so we didn't actually indulge. A better-trained forager could do well!

absolutely loved our experience here. joan was an amazing host, has just about everything you’d ever need and super sweet. her dogs are the cutest & sweetest too. super short walk to the river, beautiful view of just about everything. would absolutely recommend & would absolutely come back.

Great campsite and activities area. Very easy access to the beach and trails nearby, host was extremely helpful with everything from check in to getting firewood. If you’re lucky you may run into a very large raccoon who enjoys garlic bread 😂

I really enjoyed my time at Pine the Sky, the host was really nice with my wife and I. The sky at night is full of stars and if you want to make a fire, Joan sells firewood for $10 a bag, but you can bring your own too.
Even though there were more people there we still had privacy with our campsite near the river. There is a bathroom but if you'll stay in campsite 1, I recommend bringing a portable potty/privacy tent because it is "far" from the bathroom (a 3 or 4 minutes' walk)
"Problems"/Wrong expectations on my end: we went just last weekend (August 15) and since it's summer there was A LOT of mosquitos. We had bug spray and even mosquito head nest, but it wasn't enough, my whole body is covered with bites.
I also chose this place because I wanted to get in the water, but it was really muddy, you can use the available Kayaks (we did and it was very fun!) but I am not sure about swimming. It is a little bit hard to get in and out of the river even with water shoes.

VERY impressed at how the grounds are well kept, Josh must have worked on a golf course before, lol. The site is so quiet and peaceful, honestly LUVED it! Only took 1 "bundle" of wood and had plenty to have a nice campfire both night (and it was nice dry wood not the Ontario PP damp wood!) Not sure if I want to tell everyone about this place or keep it a secret treasure. Also Bradley Cooper will show up at your site, while you're setting up, to say hi!

We had an amazing stay at River’s land. Our camp site was amazing (site 9) and Ray (one of the managers) was so great with helping us set up, making sure we had all our electrical and water working, etc. the beach was absolutely beautiful and the water was perfect. We will 100% be back and for longer than a weekend next time!

Although the “highway” in is very bumpy, that’s an issue for the government, not the resort. You need to drive slowly for the last 6km or so.
The place itself is quite unique. There are picnic tables under metal gazebos in the drive-thru area. They are equipped with corn hole, horseshoes, hammocks (all free) and kayaks to rent. Clearly it’s a work in progress. Washrooms are clean, family owners are friendly
