The creek is fed by numerous small springs and streams coming out of the hillside on the property and up the mountainside. The forest is very diverse featuring many of the species found in bc as well as wildlife. Enjoy walking several kilometers of roads and paths on this private land. You will also enjoy the complete privacy and peacefulness to be found here. A few minutes up the road is rosebud lake, a hidden gem filled with turtles and other wildlife. Make sure you bring your paddle board or kayak to enjoy this special place. Salmo river and the stunning Pend Oreille reservoir also quite close.

This is your gateway to everything that makes Vancouver Island the ultimate destination if you love the outdoors. Saltwater and beach fishing, kayaking, boating, golfing, and hiking are just minutes away.​ There is a resort and marina across the road and an Italian kitchen restaurant . Shelter Point Distillery property is adjacent to the property. The trail goes along the ocean, through old-growth forests and along the river ending at a grocery, liquor store, coffee and pizza place, medical clinic and a small pharmacy. The property does have an outhouse, electrical plug-in option at house and water hose close to house. This place is best suited for self-contained campers who can park in the open field or under fir trees near to the house. Tents, smaller travel trailers and camper vans can be accommodated. In the early 1900s, a hotel was on the property that serviced the ships heading north in the straight and those travelling between Campbell River and Courteney. The area is within 2 km of two large sand beaches, a Chinese restaurant, and a Spa. The 8KM river float is an intermediate level float and may not be suitable for young kids as there is a section that needs to be walked to avoid a dangerous area. Do you want to get off grid but are too lazy to pack all the things necessary to do so? Look no further! The Fairy House has everything you need to cook delicious meals (plates, forks, cooking utensils, pots, bbq grill with side burner), stay warm (hot tub, instant hot water shower, and wood stove in the house), explore outdoors with your dog companion/s (lots of land with cool mushrooms growing everywhere). We booked The Fairy House last minute and were so stoked to find it fitting our every need: time to disconnect, stars, forest walks, and hot tub time. We have been to Salmo before and love the area. Went to Nelson, hiked near Ainsworth and then sat in the hot springs. Kootenay Lake is always beautiful too, and grabbed some delicious food in Nelson on our last night. I don’t want to miss the absolute beauty of the craftsmanship that is this little house, bathhouse, and outhouse. Seriously, bravo! Thank you for sharing it with others and we hope to come back again.

We had a very cosy stay at the Portal retreat with our pooch. It was pretty rainy but that made the stay even more cosy. The bed was really comfortable , and it’s such a close walk to Sproat lake. We enjoyed swimming and paddling , very peaceful. We hope to be back again soon :)

Wow! What an incredible experience, you can really feel the pure energy and love that went into creating this place. This was exactly the whimsical getaway that we were looking for! When you drive in and see the bath house and then the cabin, it really feels like you’ve arrived at a Fairy House! ✨ You’re surrounded by beautiful forest, and the fairy lights strung around create such a magical vibe. Even though it was a hot day, the cabin stayed super cool inside, which felt amazing. Everything was sparkling clean, and the towels were soft and smelled wonderful :D We had a lovely, peaceful time at the cabin. It is so quiet there, and you also have a lot of privacy. The next morning we went to Rosebud Lake for a refreshing swim, and on the way out we stopped at the cute little store and visited the goats across the street. Thanks for the lovely getaway! We would definitely come back!

We enjoyed the hand crafted unique cabin in the woods. Our dogs loved to explore the property and had lots of space to run around. The wood operated hot tub was a unique bonus with lots of wood available and a new experience that I would highly recommend. The quiet and off the grid property was very relaxing and would highly recommend to anyone who enjoys nature and a little getaway!

Doreen’s place is great! Her directions were precise and everything was as she described. I camped in my Vanagon van and needed only the pit toilet and the bins which were great. The space was clean and tidy. The beach access trail was perfect and the beach was lovely! It was perfect and not crowded even through the RV park is nearby. It was quiet and great. I’d come back if I was in the area. Highly recommend!

Site was wonderful. We adore how sweet and friendly she is, especially with her dog. We enjoy the washroom, which includes a sink and running water. She also has trash and recyclables. Close to the ocean, 19 minutes to Campbell downtown, and 5 minutes to Saratoga ocean.

Christoph's Fairy Cabin was a quiet sanctuary away from the city. The ambiance was nice and peaceful, and very private. There is a lake about a 5-minute drive down the road, which has clean and clear water and was perfect for paddleboarding. The stars at night are breathtaking and all in all it was a perfect weekend getaway.

We had such an amazing time at The Portal Retreat! The place was super clean and cozy and had everything we needed for a comfortable stay. Andrew was also such a pleasure to chat with and was extremely hospitable, always making sure we had everything that we needed! The place truly feels like you are in the middle of the forest and being 3 minutes away from a (not busy) lake was such a delight! It is still close enough to town though (around a 10 minute drive) so it was easy to pop out and grab anything we may have forgotten! For those that are scared about not having service - my partner and I are on Rogers and Fido and we had full service the entire time

We had a wonderful experience at this campground! The location was easy to find, and check-in was a breeze. Our hosts were warm, welcoming, and went out of their way to make us feel at home. The grounds were peaceful and relaxing, with a family- and pet-friendly atmosphere that made our stay even more enjoyable. The facilities were spotless and well-maintained, and the tent camping areas were spacious and comfortable. We were especially impressed by the full-service sites—they exceeded expectations! The concession was also remarkably well-stocked, making it easy to grab anything we needed without leaving the campground. All in all, this campground struck the perfect balance of comfort, convenience, and tranquility. We’re already looking forward to returning for a longer stay!

Mabel Lake Resort, boat launch and Golf Club is a short 20 minute drive. Camping at Olich Creek Farm is unique and family friendly. Most of our rescued farm animals roam the property freely and absolutely love human visitors. Families with children will also enjoy the natural play areas the farm offers including a shallow creek and visits with our chickens and ducks. Your dogs or other small pets are permitted in the camping areas only as our herd is terrified of dogs. There is another large area (about 5 acres) where well-behaved dogs can run off leash. We have one RV site with septic, water and 50 Amp power and can fit a 40 foot unit and 2 totally private tent sites. There is a full washroom with tub/shower, toilet and wifi access in our old farmhouse which is complimentary during your stay. Should you find that your desired dates are already booked, please reach out to us as we may have a back up spot available. Please keep in mind we are an organic farm homestead that offers an agritourism experience. Surrounded on three sides by lush, moss-draped forest and bordered on the fourth by the stunning Chilliwack River, it’s a true nature lover’s paradise. Enjoy a spacious riverside beach, great for swimming during the summer and fall & has world-class fishing. The area features Class I–IV rapids, ideal for whitewater kayaking, with Chilliwack River Rafting just minutes away. There isn't river access at the sites. The stairs to the beach are through the covered picnic shelter. There is now a light wire fence along the river in riverfront sites for some protection because of the drop-off & undercut banks (not shown in the pictures). We have an endless network of trails and logging roads, perfect for ATVs (ride directly out of our gate), hiking, and biking. Whether you’re seeking adrenaline or tranquility, this property offers both. ATV's are idle in - idle out only. QUIET, well-mannered, leashed pets are welcome if you pick up after them. LONG WEEKENDS are a minimum of 3 nights. CHILDREN MUST be accompanied by a parent at all times! FIREWOOD is $9. for a large feed bag full & is available between 8 AM and 8 PM. The site is level and can accommodate vehicles up to 40ft in length. Electrical, sewage, and potable water hookups included. Amenities include a picnic table, wifi and a fire ring and some fire wood supplied at no cost. If there is a campfire ban in effect we will provide a propane campfire. The property is about half natural forest and so it's not unusual to see local critters, large and small peeking out! There are several hiking trails in the area and local parks as well. There are 3 artisans on Decourcy Drive. The world-famous Crow and Gate pub is 4 km from here and the historic Wheat Sheaf Hotel (Pub) is about 5 km. Local restaurants and Cafes, Groceries, Pharmacy are 5 km. We are a quiet country getaway located 25 minutes from Nanaimo Departure Bay Ferry Terminal. Duke Point Terminal is about 20 minutes. Picturesque town of Ladysmith is about 25 minutes south and the very Unique town of Chemainus is 35 minutes and very worth seeing.
