We strive to provide a place to enjoy the peace and quiet of nature, so it's not a place to party or have music loud enough for neighbours to hear.
Nestled in the heart of the Tamihi Recreational Area, just 20 minutes from town, our property offers a rare blend of seclusion and adventure. Surrounded on three sides by lush, moss-draped forest and bordered on the fourth by the stunning Chilliwack River, it’s a true nature lover’s paradise.
Enjoy a spacious riverside beach, great for swimming during the summer and fall as well a world-class fishing. The area features Class I–IV rapids for whitewater kayaking, with Chilliwack River Rafting just 5 or so minutes away. You can ATV right out of our gate onto unlimited logging roads and trails or hike the Trans Canada Trail 3 blocks from our gate.
There isn't river access at the sites. The stairs to the beach are through the picnic shelter. There is a light wire fence along the river in riverfront sites for protection due to a drop-off and undercut banks.
ATV's are idle in - idle out.
QUIET, well-mannered, leashed pets are welcome if you pick up after them and not leave them unattended.
LONG WEEKENDS are a minimum of 3 nights.
CHILDREN MUST be accompanied by a parent at all times!
FIREWOOD is $9. for a large feed bag full and is available between 9 AM and 8 PM.
WATER: We do have a non-potable water tap in the park. I'm not allowed to say that the water at the waterfall/creek is good water - so I won't.
BEEF and EGGS: We have grass-fed Black Angus beef jerky for sale (this cow was treated as a pet until her time & was dispatched on the farm to avoid stress). We occasionally have eggs from our pastured chickens.
Our free-range kind, gentle horses also wander the property. Any interactions with them are at your own risk! The gate must be kept closed because of them.

Each standard campsite has a flat gravel surface suitable for tents, smaller RV's, shorter travel trailers, truck campers, rooftop tents, camper vans, and similar. Site 3 has a tent pad, well suited for cyclists or motorbikes.
Small trailers up to 20 feet may be usable, but access may be tight.
Please note, that while there is a campfire ban, camp stoves and propane fire pits are permitted.

A very remote, tranquil log cabin fishing camp hand-built in the 1960's. Akehurst Lake Wilderness Resort is only accessible by ATV (snowmobile in winter) or by foot (a 9-minute walk from the parking lot). There is no public access to the lake so it is wonderfully private & peaceful.
We offer 5 cabins in total with some areas suitable for tents.
There is a day-lodge with a kitchen and eating area for guest's use, kayaks, row boats, and a paddle board free for use as well as a wood-fired sauna!
The lake is excellent for swimming. It is feet-friendly, shallow, and has no sudden drop-offs. And if you like to hike, fish or BOTH then this is the place for you. There are many nearby lakes that are a short drive/ride and hike away!
Akehurst Lake does not have cell service or wifi. Lights are made possible by a gas generator in the evening. There is only cold running water in the day-lodge sink which is seasonal and depends on if the creek is running. Guests should be comfortable being in the woods and aware that if no one else is there, they will need to light the stove and fridge and operate the generator if needed.

We had such an amazing weekend at Whonnock Willow Farm and Campground! The property is beautiful, peaceful, and surrounded by incredible trees and scenery, but what really made the experience special were the hosts, Kathy and Craig.
They were genuinely some of the warmest and most welcoming hosts we've ever had. They went above and beyond to make sure we had everything we needed, while still giving us complete privacy and space to enjoy our weekend. Kathy's recommendations were fantastic, and Craig was incredibly thoughtful and attentive. He even noticed I had burned my hand and surprised me with a pair of fireproof welding gloves when we left. Such a thoughtful gesture that we'll never forget!
Being able to rent a canoe, kayak, or paddleboard right on the property and walk through the forest to the lake was the perfect addition to the weekend.
We absolutely loved our stay and can't wait to come back, whether it's just the two of us or with friends. Kathy and Craig, thank you for making our weekend so memorable. We highly recommend Whonnock Willow to anyone looking for a beautiful, peaceful getaway with truly wonderful hosts!

This HipCamp was a lifesaver after a long delay at the border crossing caused us to miss our planned destination. It is just a large empty parking lot, but it's quiet and level. The lot is large, but power was well labeled on one building.

2 nights at An Experience!-Golden Ears Glamping
We really enjoyed our time at Golden Ears Glamping cabin suite, Greg was a great host who answered quickly any of our questions or needs, and he even spent the time teaching us how to fish and lent us his fishing rod.
We love the property and the amenities available, the river behind the place is awesome, we swam, fished and even got to have a campfire!
We got an up close and personal view of nature! We saw a black bear, and also a beaver swimming in a creek which was so cool!
If you are someone who loves to be in nature, to have peace and relaxation this place would be good for you!
We would like to come back, maybe we will try the tent next time!

1 night at Kootenay Born retreat by Arrow lake
What a beautiful, remote paradise! Feels very off the beaten track. Getting the (free) ferry over was a fun experience. Michelle and John were there to show us round and were very friendly and accommodating. The cabin was great and had everything we needed for a cosy night’s sleep. We then borrowed their kayak in the morning for a peaceful paddle on the lake before we left. Wish we could have stayed longer!

The lots are flat, there are plenty of long drops, friendly accommodating host, lots of good clean potable water on hand and the soft sandy beach is really a beautiful area for recreation and relaxing.

Weekend Trip to Akehurst Lake Wilderness Resort
The place is awesome! I really loved it and had a great time. 😊
Just a heads-up, there is no cell signal, so it’s better to prepare in advance. It’s also about a 10-minute walk to the place.
I would suggest putting up a sign outside, as it took us a little while to find the location. A signboard would make it much easier for guests to find you.
The kayaks are available there, which is a nice bonus. Overall, we really enjoyed our stay!
