Mickey Mouse operation BUYER BEWARE
My first experience with HipCamp was a disaster and will be the last.
I booked and paid for a sole premium site for 9 days and the host booked outside of HipCamps booking system for what he said was 2 nights and then resold the same site ( the one I paid for) to another camper shortly before We arrived downgrading us for a total of 6 out of the 9 nights.
The host refused to refund the difference for the 6 nights and misrepresented what he had to offer. His ad states he had power but it was insufficient and unreliable as he either shut it off to conserve his aging battery supply ( his words ) or it was drained through the night. In order to compensate for his inadequate solar system an extremely noisy gas generator was used to recharge the batteries and or provide the needed power to do his laundry and run the water pump necessary to water his lawn.
The problems encountered do to poor management, re-selling a previously paid for and spoken site, 5:30 to 8:30 am Rooster crowing, unreliable and inadequate power and 30 minute, 25 kilometer drive down a dusty washboarded rut and pot-hole filled road with several cattle guards that almost rattle your fillings loose is not worth the marginally maintained, lumpy uneven sites that’s sole redeeming feature is a 20’ wide shallow creek.
One would be as well off to pull off into the bush along the way and save the $ and wasted drive through the dust bowl to get there.
A complete disappointment to say the least and that’s being generous!

Murphys Peaceful Cranbrook Campsite
Idyllic peaceful spot!
We loved this spot. The creek was beautiful and great for a little swim. The dirt road leading there was well worth it and we found the most beautiful spit that was so quiet. All you could hear was water a d the birds. Cornelius was great at communicating with us and checking to see we settled in.

Shangri La
Murphy’s law.
A great quiet place southeast of Cranbrook.
Large lots with different characteristics.
Shady, next to a stream or with some more sunshine: it’s all there.
Upon arrival we could nowhere see a reference to ‘Shangri La’. Nobody, Murphy the owner included, know about Shangri la.
It’s Murphy’s, full stop.
You’ll find it after driving approx 12.5 km on the unsurfaced part of the Gold Creek road.
It’s on the right; please enjoy your stay!

Very peaceful place to stay love, the fact that my dogs could run loose and not worry about them having to be tethered all the time. Beautiful scenery!

This was such a great place to stay. Very quite and secluded. The hosts were kind and courteous. The views were breathtaking. I will definitely be coming back!
