Weekend Trip to Murphy's Gold Creek Ranch

Really nice property. Perfect spot, had the whole camping area to ourselves. Very nice host, and beautiful property. Long gravel road out to property but we had a small car and still worked well.

Quiet, rustic and a great fire pit, Worthy of a respectful campfire. We drive a 25' motorhome to the site. About 20 minutes each way over some primitive roads, but we found it worth it. I understand that Justin has owned the property for a little over a year and I have no doubt there will be improvements season after season.

Very beautiful stay. Craig the host was very helpful and ensured we were comfortable and ready for our time there, even though we arrived after dark. Lovely indoor camp fire, musical instruments, and a very comfortable bed. Definitely would love to go back and would highly recommend.

We loved our stay here! Berny is an incredible host. Warm and welcoming and full of great information about the area. And her pot pies, smoked pulled pork, and cinnamon buns were amazing—all delivered hot right to our campsite! And the site was awesome: beautiful, with the best outhouse you’ll ever use. We loved the hike to the river overlook too. Go!

Great, level parking site in driveway. Host had electric and water hookups conveniently close by. Ullu was at work when we arrived but came as soon as we called to have car moved that was parked in spot. Great location to visit Kootenay and Canal Flats.

Another season has wrapped up at Blacksmith Landing and I definitely left the camp very emotional! We absolutely love this place. The campground is immaculate, so well taken care of. Every activity you might want to do is close by, more beautiful lakes to choose from than you have time for! The owners are the most hospitable, lovely people (with the best stories!) and the FOOD. Worth the trip on it's own. Our entire family cherishes every weekend here and we can't wait until next season!!!!

An amazing campsite made unforgettable by Bernie, the enchanting and knowledgeable owner. She welcomed us with warmth, and true to her word, shared her renowned cinnamon buns—making us feel embraced by her hospitality (and that of her husband Stuart), and by the stillness of the surrounding land and Kootenay Mountain Range.

We had a lovely stay at HipCamp - a great way to break up our road trip. Brent and Stuart went above and beyond to welcome us and ensure we had everything we needed. You can see that they take great pride in their place and in hosting guests. For instance the outhouses were extremely clean and were decorated so that you did not feel like you were using an outhouse.

We absolutely loved our time at Bernie & Stuart's! They were incredibly warm and welcoming, and we're so grateful they opened up their stunning property to campers, like us. We purchased & were treated to a delicious meal and treats from Bernie. The hike on the property to the breathtaking Kootenay River view was a highlight, as was finding the charming tree book nook. For anyone boondocking, Bernie's "cutest little loo" is a huge plus! We highly recommend staying here!! You will love it!

Our time at Cept Ranch was wonderful, it is so quiet, beautiful views, the lake was wonderful. The ride in is a bit rough, but totally doable. If you enjoy being off grid, this place is fabulous. The host Justin was very accommodating and super great to deal with.

The hosts were so lovely and welcoming! They were very helpful in getting us additional drinking water when needed, and were very accommodating helping us get a site that was right for my (special) dogs and myself with advance requests. I would definitely recommend. Only thing to note is that thew geographic region is inherently very dusty due to very small particle soil (mostly silt), so be prepared for many things to be very dusty when camping in the region regardless ;)

Bernie and Stuart are such wonderful people. You can really feel and are that they put their heart and soul in running the campground. They waited for us at the gate (as they do for every camper!!) and gave us a warm welcome. In the morning we ordered some home made cinnamon rolls and they were delicious. After that we took a walk towards the campground ridge (about 20mins) and enjoyed the breath taking views of the Kootenay river. We had a blast!

Also, we reserve the right to put you in the best possible spot to fit in a proper site for what you are camping in and what your needs are. I sold a business in Toronto and moved West in 1990 and drove all over North America looking for a new place to settle and raise a family. While camping in the Kootenay's I found this oasis and bought it. I have raised a family living totally off the grid since and love it. The water here is so clean and and the air is so fresh is why I stay. The night sky is so hard to explain it has to be seen to believe. Come check it out and you will agree. Learn more about this land: Enjoy camping on our 25-acre property just outside of Cranbrook, BC! We have multiple spots to choose from. You can camp beside the creek, in an open field, or up high with beautiful views of the valley. It all depends on your preferences and the privacy that you desire. We welcome tent and RV campers. If you're bringing an RV, there are sites that do not require levelling and we can accommodate vehicles up to 75ft in length. Bring your animals - there are a lot of great spaces for them to play! Our yard is equipped for horseback riding with a horse ring and stable. The property is a great step-off point for ATV, dirt bikes, horseback and hiking adventures. Potable water, toilet, picnic table, wifi and showers are available. Pets welcome, campfires permitted. We are a 15-20 minute drive to Cranbrook. As the basecamp of the Kootenay Rockies, Cranbrook has it all - From all the trails one can dream of to multiple award-winning golf courses all within a 20-minute drive out of town, Cranbrook is an outdoor enthusiast's paradise. Wakita encompasses 25 acres of diverse wilderness and clearings. The land was developed in the 70's as an education, arts and health retreat and that history influences its atmosphere today. A small mountain creek meanders past gardens, berry patches, rustic cabins and a stage. The land is peppered with Ancient burned out cedar trunks that stand as a testament to the wildfire that razed the valley and the town of Fernie in the early 1900's. If guests are interested in a tour we will show you our favorites! Since Wakita borders on the wilderness of BC, we ask that our guests exercise common sense when it comes to food and fires. Upon arrival, we will provide information on the use of woodstoves, firepits, composting outhouses (for a-frame and campsites), etc. Wakita is a 15 min drive from all of the amenities and adventure available in beautiful Fernie, BC. Explore further up our road and you will find the trailheads for popular hikes to Mount Hosmer, the Three Sisters and Heiko's trail.
