Overview

About

Embark on an adventure at Woolford Provincial Park, where the only stand of narrow-leaved cottonwoods in Alberta awaits. Hike through the riparian ecosystem, observe diverse birdlife, and paddle the scenic St. Mary River. Anglers can cast for trout, pike, and walleye in these pristine waters. With a day-use area and a campground, Woolford is a perfect getaway for nature enthusiasts and families alike.

Tips for snagging a campsite

  • Book early to secure your spot, as the campground can fill up quickly during peak seasons.
  • Check the park's official website for cancellation policies and snag a last-minute reservation.
  • Visit during weekdays for better availability and a quieter camping experience.
  • Explore nearby camping options for alternative accommodations if Woolford is fully booked.

When to go

The best time to visit Woolford Provincial Park is during the summer months, from June to August, when the weather is warm and the park's full splendour is on display. Spring and fall offer cooler temperatures and fewer visitors, while winter can be harsh and limit access to some park areas.

Know before you go

  • Always be bear smart and store food securely to prevent wildlife encounters.
  • Check for any advisories or park closures before your visit to ensure a safe trip.
  • Accessibility may vary, so contact the park directly for the latest information on facilities.
  • Remember to bring all necessary supplies, as amenities are limited within the park.
  • Respect the natural habitat by staying on designated trails and practicing Leave No Trace principles.
