On a hillside property in the heart of Vancouver Island’s west coast, Pacific Ranch offers amazing views, stream-side forest walks, and private tranquillity. Driving in along the winding and steep driveway, you will arrive on our unique property and find rocky, moss-covered bluffs, and fern-carpeted forests. Across these settings are two private campsites for one to choose from. There is a lot to do in the area for outdoor adventurers, including walks along the Galloping Goose Trail, many local beaches, as well as biking and hiking trails right off of the ranch. You can visit picturesque local villages close by, as well as head to one of the local lakes for a day of swimming. Bring your own tents and van/truck campers. We can accommodate vehicles under 26 feet (water hookup available). You will be parking on loose gravel and the site requires levelling.  Campfires are permitted as long as there is no fire ban. Pets are welcome!

Site 1 - Fir Grove
We stayed at Fir Grove, and the other campsites on the property did look better by comparison to this one. But >$50/night did not feel like good value for this site: it is a small, uneven site and there were used body wipes in the fireplace when we arrived, as well as the smell of (assumed) people having relieved themselves close by. Communication with the hosts was really good, the area at large is beautiful, the campsite was private and it is listed as “requires levelling”, so by and large the listing is accurate and it’s a very tranquil and beautiful place. We camp often and were a little let-down on this specific campsite, which in conjunction with no facilities just felt like poor value to us.

Imagine being tucked away in a rainforest, your campsite caressed within a tree canopy of whispering firs & Arbutus, seemingly chattering to one another with leaves dancing hypnotically with the rays of a setting sun. This was an epic find - many thanks to our hosts for making our Labour Day long w/end anything BUT laborious. We cycled the “Goose”, hiked the majestic Lake Trails, & sipped Burrowing Owl 🍷 to honour the many natural sounds of our furry neighbors who lulled us to sleep. Ray & Vanessa

The place was more than what we have expected. It was the perfect spot with a wonderful view, especially for us, as first time campers. Dave was a great host, they were very accommodating and they gave us clear directions and guidance before we arrive at the camp site. We can't wait to go back & experience the other camp sites! :) It was really a lovely stay and experience!

SUCH a cool property!! Peaceful, beautiful, and unique. We have a lovely greeting and then enjoyed a private campsite up on the ridge line with a nice view. I enjoyed seeing their horses too. I’d stay again!

Such a beautiful spot
We had such a fun time camping this weekend! It was our first time taking our baby camping and it gave us a lot of peace of mind to be near town if we needed anything. The property is stunning and it was special to show our son the horses! Our site was very private and easy to get to. We enjoyed driving to the cafe for a snack on Saturday and East Sooke Park for a hike.

Tent camping near Sooke!
We loved tent camping on Dave’s land! The site was well maintained and amongst beautiful old growth rainforest. We camped on site 3, which was near the driveway, so it wasn’t completely private, but still far more private and comfortable than what you would get at a standard campsite. Close to great hikes, Victoria, and Sooke. Dave was great, quick to respond, and easy to work with. Would highly recommend!

Easy to get to, beautiful as hellllll! Super close to Matheson Lake- walkable. We (not me) caught 2 fish while there and the hike around was beautiful. Headed back to camp for a peaceful evening. So much better camping in solitude 😛 Thanks for the amazing stay!

Charming 🏕 Retreat
Dave and Elizabeth were warmly welcoming and friendly hosts at Pacific Ranch. The property is tucked away in the woods with a fairytale like atmosphere all around. We originally booked the Creekside campsite, and Dave was helpful when we changed our minds and asked to stay at Long View instead. As the name would suggest, the campsite is situated further up the slope and has a stunning view looking out towards the Olympics. There were two wooden cottage chairs situated by a fire pit which set a charming camp retreat feel amongst the forested scenery. A selection of firewood was provided for us and down below there was a convenient spot to fill up our containers with water. At night the Ranch is softly lit up with a warm glow of bulbs strung all along and across the outside which was comforting. The adorable dogs and horses down on the Ranch also added to the feeling of safety which allowed for a peaceful nights sleep. Dave was super responsive and provided plenty of information about the location prior to our arrival. Elizabeth showed us to our site and gave us a run down of the space making us feel welcomed in. All in all would recommend as a highly approachable wilderness retreat, offering a secluded camping experience with some of the rougher edges polished away for more peace of mind and relaxation. Many thanks to Dave & Elizabeth

Lovely, very private spot. Views of the snow capped mountains, yet close-ish (30 minutes or so) to Victoria. Handy if you are still exploring the city. Site 2 is definitely a walk in site (through a horse pen with adorable horses!) - so wear sturdy shoes and pack light-ish or portable-ish. Very accommodating hosts with great communication and and easy, friendly check in. Sweet horses and welcoming dogs. A breath of lovely nature with nice hosts and Adirondack chairs set up to take in the views!

Beautiful quiet spot in the trees.
What an awesome little gem of a camping spot! I was solo camping in my small camper van and it was the perfect location. Dave's land is beautiful, quiet, clean and private. Great host, awesome communication, friendly and available but provided tons of privacy. No cellphone service was a nice forced break from the world. Will totally come back again.

Lovely campspot
Great camping spot in a lovely ranch. Dave and his wife were very friendly and helpful to us. You will be welcomed by a pack of cute doggies and friendly horses as well. They did a great job to keep you company with very small charge of fee (they do love petting). My camping spot is well maintained with breathtaking view surrounding by trees and few birds and Dave gave me a lot of firewood to last our night there. We took a small trail which led us to a higher spot (some proper shoes required if you want to get to this lookout, I did it with my flip flop and I could not enjoy the small hike). Dave will give you very detailed instructions to get there however make sure you have an AWD/ 4x4 or good tires as about very last 300-400m road is little bit tricky for 2WD. Basically, an 2WD might make it with a lot of wheel spinning as we saw a dodge mini van went there. If you love a private spot, country-feeling camping, lovely dogs, horses and don’t mind to give them a good pet every time you want to get some thing from your car, this spot is for you. We definitely will be back to this property.

Rainforest and Native Plants!
We loved the natural landscape of Dave's land. The walks are beautiful- very much BC rainforest with several old-growth trees on the property, which we value. A very quiet low-key place, Dave greeted us upon arrival and ensured that we had everything we needed. This was a staycation for us less than an hour from our house, but it offered the respite we'd been craving and since we love "wild", it offers that feel without all the people of regular campgrounds. The horses were a huge bonus for me as well! So gentle and lovely! A great couple of nights! We fell asleep to the sound of the creek and nightsong of many birds and slept over 9 hours per night- silence and bliss... Thank you! We shall return!
