Join us on our family farm in Merville, the heart of the Comox Valley. Located just 20 minutes from downtown Courtenay, you'll find a slower pace, quieter sites and more nature surrounding you than the commercial campgrounds. Comox and Cumberland are both 25 minutes away giving you options for marine activities, mountain biking, shopping, dining and more. Check in with us for current vegetable, fruit and floral options while you're here. Site 1 and 2 are medium sized drive-in sites. Site 3 is a tent-only site. Site 4 is a bit more open also for vans, campers, and tents, and we have a last-minute available Site 5 for vehicle camping. These sites will welcome you to recharge in nature. Dark night skies will open you to all the majesty of our solar system with great stargazing opportunities. Each standard campsite has a flat gravel surface suitable for tents, smaller RV's, shorter travel trailers, truck campers, rooftop tents, camper vans, and similar. Site 3 has a tent pad, well suited for cyclists or motorbikes. Small trailers up to 20 feet may be usable, but access may be tight. Please note, that while there is a campfire ban, camp stoves and propane fire pits are permitted. Easy access to Mt Washington and Strathcona Park, local beaches, rivers and more.

We have a smaller single campsite for those on bicycle or motorcycle. We have a raised tent pad of 8’ by 12’ to pitch your tent on. It’s located next to a field offering warm mornings and cool evenings. A short walk after dark will provide for great stargazing as we are farther out of town. This is a great option for cyclists travelling north or south on Vancouver Island as it’s near the old highway and headquarters road, popular with touring cyclists.

Setback into the trees, find a comfortable 25’x35’ graveled site with a large cedar and smaller fir trees next to the site. Hang your hammock or relax in the provided lounging chairs while cooking at the picnic table. This and Site 2 are both located on a short spur road. Suitable for smaller RV's including car top tents, trucks and camper, vans or smaller class B under 25 feet. The site is mostly level with gravel surface. If you require a few blocks or such to level your unit we are happy to provide. These sites sit within a younger forest with good shade. Deer are known to wander through the campsites. There is a picnic table for your needs and you will likely be watching a regular flurry of birds in the trees. A short walk after dark will provide for great stargazing as we are farther out of town. A porta pottie and fresh water is available on site.

This and site 1 are both located on a short spur road. Suitable for smaller RV's including car top tent, truck and camper, van or smaller class B under 25 feet. The site is mostly level with gravel surface. If you require a few blocks or such to level your unit we are happy to provide. There is a picnic table for your needs and you will likely be watching a regular flurry of birds in the trees. A short walk after dark will provide for great stargazing as we are farther out of town.

Our newest site, suitable for a roof top tent, van, or tent and car. Gravel surface is approx 30 by 15 with a small table and chairs for cooking and relaxing at. Being a bit more open this is a great spot for stargazing.

Site 5 is our simplest site. We keep it ready for last minute campers in vehicles. Truck Camper, Roof Top Tent, Class B motorhome and Camper Vans are suitable for this site. It's not designed for a tent. Please submit a request for this site, typically for late arrival or early departure, as it will be the least interupting to other campers.

The camping site had everything we needed - potable water, toilet, garbage bin, picnic bench, and lawn chairs. He even brought an extra one out for us as there was originally only 2 for our party of 3. Colin was very communicative throughout the entire trip, and even offered us refuge inside his place during a severe thunderstorm. There was a neighbouring group who were partying a bit late when we were there but Colin promptly took care of it when he found out. Besides that one instance, this was a very quiet, calm place to camp, and was closeby the town.

Fantastic place to stay five nights. Great host, quiet farm / Hipcamp, beautiful rural setting — a few minutes from everything the Comox Valley has to offer. Mountain biking, trail running, the ocean, good restaurants etc etc Colin was wonderful and helped us get set up to stay five nights when we only initially planned for two — but wanted to stay longer because it was such a perfect place to base ourselves for the week!

Really enjoyed our night at Tyee Valley Farm! It's so quiet and peaceful. We brought our C-class motorhome (in Site C) and, even though there was another site close by, we still felt that we had privacy. It was nice to meet Colin and see the cows peacefully grazing nearby. Really nice space for very reasonable value.

Awesome, chill spot from which to explore The Comox Valley. We stayed five nights and mountain biked, hiked, and checked out mt Washington as well as places to eat in Cumberland and Courtenay. Colin has put together a perfect mini campground with his design, details (picnic tables, tent platform) and basic amenities (portapotty, water) that level it up for me. Gorgeous area, lots of birds, trees, pastures and distant sound of farm animals. Colin was super friendly and accommodating— making it easy for us to stay 5 nights when we’d only initially planned for two.

This was our second year camping at Tyee in site 2 and we loved it just as much as we did the first time! Perfect place to unwind and relax. Colin is an amazing host and always responsive to questions or concerns. We will hopefully see you again this year!

It was a nice, quiet spot to relax, but also close by to drive into Courtenay/Comox and Cumberland. Lots of various trails in the area too, which was great for exploring with the dog. The site was tidy and well maintained.

Site 4 Winter
We stayed at Colin's property for one frosty night in January. The site was easy to locate and get situated even in the dark hours of our arrival. Come morning we discovered a beautiful forest and marsh space with many ponds. Wild birds were warming up in the morning sun as we had a quick breakfast before heading out. The space was perfect for a private & safe stay among nature.
