Decourcy Meadows is a peaceful forested site within a short walking distance to a safe local swimming beach. We are an RV-only campsite. The site is level and can accommodate vehicles up to 40ft in length. Electrical, sewage, and potable water hookups included. Amenities include a picnic table, wifi and a fire ring and some fire wood supplied at no cost. If there is a campfire ban in effect we will provide a propane campfire. The property is about half natural forest and so it's not unusual to see local critters, large and small peeking out! There are several hiking trails in the area and local parks as well. There are 3 artisans on Decourcy Drive. The world-famous Crow and Gate pub is 4 km from here and the historic Wheat Sheaf Hotel (Pub) is about 5 km. Local restaurants and Cafes, Groceries, Pharmacy are 5 km. We are a quiet country getaway located 25 minutes from Nanaimo Departure Bay Ferry Terminal. Duke Point Terminal is about 20 minutes. Picturesque town of Ladysmith is about 25 minutes south and the very Unique town of Chemainus is 35 minutes and very worth seeing.Decourcy Meadows is a peaceful forested site within a short walking distance to a safe local swimming beach. Rod’s HipCamp site was absolutely delightful! A quiet spot in the woods with a lovely hiking trail to the water. Rod was a tremendously affable host! He provided me with a propane firepit so I could sit outside and enjoy the evening. I told him I was interested in possibly setting up a HipCamp site at my home in Shelton, WA. And he gave me a lot of good, positive information. He should be an ambassador for HipCamp! He really loves hosting people. Another bonus: the amenities included a sewer and grey water dump and water.

Very private spot on side of house! Lovely picnic table with afternoon sun was delightful. Rod provided a wonderful list of hikes to do and nearby restaurants. Due to my husband's mobility issues, we didn't walk to beach but did take in local Farmers Market on Sunday (worth it) and visited a couple of Rod's recommendations for beautiful scenery! Quiet nights! Would recommend!

Rod was a great host! Excellent landing spot for our first night on the island- had a fire ready and it was nice to walk around behind the property. Hope to be back next year!

We enjoyed Decourcy Meadows place so much that we went back for a second stay at the end of our trip. Once again, everything was great! Rod and his wife were super accommodating. If you are looking for a quiet place with full hookups this should be on your list of places to check out!

Wonderful stay at The Meadow. Nicely equipped and private RV site backed by huge trees. Short walk to the ocean and quick drives to two very nice pubs, The Crow and Gate being spectacular.

We really enjoyed our camping experience at decoursy meadows. It is lovely quiet and comfortable. The host and his wife are very nice, non intrusive and helpful. The coach site is spacious, with full amenities. We highly recommend it to anyone seeking a clean quiet and peaceful place to spend a couple of days.

Wonderful little slice of heaven. Great central location, wonderful trails and parks around. Highly recommend if you don’t want a busy campground. As others said, it’s right beside their house but if you situate yourself up, you have a lovely view of the forest. We saw deer, elk and heard a very spooky owl!

Decourcy Meadows is a lovely spot in the woods and a perfect location if you are in the Cedar/Ladysmith area. Yes you park at the end of a driveway, but then you turn around and it’s magical. We took a nice walk through the woods to the ocean. Nice host too!

We spent 6 nights at Rod's place; the campsite is clean, full equipped, and secured! Rod is an amazing host; he is kind, helpful, and very friendly! You will see and sense how much effort and dedication he puts into his land to make it beautiful and comfortable for himself and his Hipcamp guests! Due to the dry weather during our time, he asked us not to use the fire pit at the campsite, but he was very generous to offer his own campfire area which is close by our site, surrounded by beautiful flowers and chairs, with ready to use fire wood. I don't even mention the night he joined our campfire time and brought the laughter and joy 😂 The only challenge we had was the mosquitoes; they started showing up before sunset and never leave you alone unless you are around the campfire or apply the repellent; be prepared and take whatever possible with yourself to keep them away 🥲 Overall, great experience and a wonderful person to meet! I would absolutely come back and camp there again 😊👍🏻

tammi and I both felt that decourcy meadows was a really nice spot and location . it has all the services needed for a pleasant stay with anything from a tent to a medium sized unit, our 24' c-class fit with lots of room to spare. our dog enjoyed the open field to run and exercise in and it was a short walk to the beach for some exploring at low tide. Rod and his wife are retired and are very deserving of a star host rating. we immediately felt like family.

One of the nicest places to stay😀. Looking out into the beautiful forest and shrubs next to our 12 metre motorhome, picnic table, and a fire pit with lots of wood to burn. Rod and Joyce were fabulous hosts! We are looking forward to coming back next year!

Nice place to park for a couple nights. Reasonably quiet neighborhood (except for a lot of birds!). Rod was a good host. Picnic table and fire ring with wood was ready. Nice walk to a pretty public beach. Short drive to a great pub and a nice kayaking lake. Would recommend.

Rod and Joyce are a lovely couple. They’ve created a great spot to camp on their property. Although you are close to the house the site faces into the forest so you have lots of privacy. Really nice touch that Rod leaves a big container of wood for your use. We had lots of campfires. Wifi was a bit sketchy but once Rod got an extender it worked like a charm. We filled a carboy with water at the grocery store for drinking water. Make sure to visit the cedar farmers market on Sunday, really big great market.

We stayed with Rod and Joyce for 12 days and had the greatest experience, and made life long friends of them. The site is beautiful and easy to maneuver.... and full service! The surroundings are serene and best of all, the hosts are wonderful people. I look forward to our next chance to visit them!
