Rustic Farm Camping in the White Mountains Welcome to our peaceful field on a historic 7th-generation farm in Whitefield, NH—nestled in the heart of the White Mountains. Just minutes from downtown and surrounded by lakes, rivers, trails, breweries, and local eats, our location is perfect for outdoor explorers and weekend wanderers. We’re near the Heritage Trail and right on the Cross New Hampshire Adventure Trail route—great for bikers and hikers. Our field offers star-filled skies, monarch butterflies, and frequent visits from deer and other wildlife. We intentionally keep the area wild and unmowed to support native species and maintain the natural beauty of the land. This is a very rustic, off-grid campsite—best for those who appreciate nature and are prepared to rough it. There are no hookups, electricity, or potable water. An outhouse compost toilet is available (bring your own TP). No showers or dump stations. Please do not dump grey/black water anywhere on the property. We allow small RVs, vans, and trailers under 24 ft. No 5th wheels. 4WD is recommended but not required. Garden carts are available, upon request, to haul gear if needed. Important to Know: No pets (we’re a working farm with chickens and farm dogs). Fires allowed only in designated pit. Bring firewood (or purchase from us) and always follow fire bans. Pack out your trash (small bin next to outhouse provided for cans/bottles). No cutting trees or using the large bonfire pile in the center of the field. Arrive before dark—there are no lights on site or along the field road. If muddy, you may need to park at the bottom of the access road. We rent to up to 3 groups per night, sites are first come, first serve. Our family farmhouse dates back to the 1850s, with five remaining acres including the barn, fields, and woods. We offer farm-fresh eggs and seasonal produce when available. Bears & Wildlife: This is bear country. Store all food, coolers, and scented items in your vehicle. Never keep food in your tent, and keep your campsite clean at all times. This site is best suited for those who enjoy a rustic, back-to-basics camping experience. If you love nature, starlit skies, and a peaceful setting with a touch of farm life, we’d love to share this special piece of land with you.

WINTER CAMPING! We have 2 spots with electric and welcome winter campers in any compacity you dare :) Wandering Pines is a little slice of magic in the Great North Woods of New Hampshire. Our sites are large, private and offer field or wooded land. The sites are near our Small House on 5 acres but far enough away to feel private. We currently have 13 sites; 2 large campsites, 6 primitive walk in sites, 3 park and sleep sites and 2 RV camper sites. If our sites are booked, please message me. We have a ton of space and can accommodate you somewhere! During the warmer months(Late March-Early December) all the sites have access to water and a primitive outhouse and handwashing/dishwashing station. Some sites have access to electricity. Firewood can be purchased. Please check our extras for other items for purchase. We have wetlands and overgrown fields so there may be bugs and other animals at any given time. Bug spray is recommended. Although black bears are generally shy and usually avoid humans, they are opportunistic and will search for human food supplies when natural foods are not available. Maintaining a sustainable bear population in New Hampshire depends on minimizing human-bear conflicts. It is illegal to intentionally feed bears in New Hampshire. Intentional feeding can create problems within residential areas and can result in fines. It also may threaten the life of the bear, if it becomes a nuisance animal as a result of this feeding. Please keep your food in your car when you are not at the site and when you are sleeping. The property has views of Mount Martha and the Presidential Mountain Range. There are easy walking trails throughout the property. There is a field to play games; Soccer, wiffle ball, corn hole and yard croquet can be used. Just ask We are within 25 mins of Lancaster, Jefferson, Littleton, and Bethlehem. Small town bars, restaurants, breweries and one of a kind views of mountains, lakes, rivers and wildlife. There is hiking galore and more than enough to do for all ages.

This land, now known by it's view gifting fields, is one of Sandwich's top treasured gems. The Historic Farm was purchased by Townsend Thorndike from the first colonizing family to claim ownership of this unceded land, the McCrillis family. It was Town's place to get away from the busy life. As time went on and his money dwindled and plans to sell off some of the land arose. Townsend's son, Nick, foresaw a devastating development of conventional homes that would diminish the soul of this sacred land that held so much magic. So, Nick decided to move back to the homestead to create an example of what a healthy life for the land and its inhabitants looks like. HipCamp was the first step towards sharing and opening up the land to create an Intentional lifestyle. One in which we hope to share our way of being that brings awareness to the natural world we have fallen so far from. Nick and his tribe of like minds are creating a holistic, educational, retreat, workshop, and event center where people can come to learn how to co-exist in a harmonious relationship with nature and each other. This property overlooking the beautiful Connecticut river (no access to) has two cabins to choose from, one sleeps two people and the other can accommodate three. The property is such a peaceful spot! We have a rustic outhouse, and showers can be taken in the main farmhouse on the property if you would like, available Monday thru Saturday from 8am to 9am. So that means Sundays are not available or evenings. The cabin is outfitted with a comfy bed, fridge, and microwave and coffee maker. We sell firewood to sit around a cozy campfire at night and stargaze! You can even purchase a S'mores package as well! Enjoy a cup of coffee in the mornings and listen to the birds. Bottled water is included as well and placed in your fridge upon arrival. Potable water also easily accessible. We will do our best to make you feel at home away from home. In a way that is never intrusive, we respect your privacy. Come and unwind with nature all around you. We are very pet friendly! And ask that all dogs are on a leash while outside. Also, pets are not to be left in the cabins unattended at any time. So, with all that said get yourself and your pets here and enjoy a cup of coffee in the morning on your deck looking out to the river. Don't set an alarm, the loons or geese may wake you first!  Listen to the birds and relax!  And if luck is with you, you might spot a bald eagle!   Want to play with goats? Camp Ebb and Flow is located on the western edge of the White Mountains, near the crossing of the Appalachian Trail and a short drive to VT. Three lakes nearby for swimming, kayaking, and fishing. Hiking trails nearby. The camp offers RV sites with water, electricity, and sewer, an RV site with no hookups, and several tent sites. One of the tent sites has water and electricity and another has electricity with nearby water. There is bathhouse with two toilets and two vanities as well as a shower with changing room. Potable water is also available from a spigot at the bathhouse. There are over six acres of mowed fields for activities and walking. There is also a lovely brook running through the property with many areas you can cool off in from the summer heat. This property has a lengthy history going back to colonial times. It’s been a farm, an apple orchard, and once had a sawmill. Please check the calendar for available dates. Check-in is no later than 9pm unless late arrival arrangements have been made prior to booking. Whenever possible, try to arrive before dark because there are no lights at most sites, which can make setup difficult. A note regarding electric vehicles (EV): If you have an electric vehicle and would like to tent camp, please select one of our full hookup RV sites. If you have the proper electric adapter for your vehicle, you can charge your vehicle at the 30A RV plug while tenting in the field near the RV site. We do not supply these adapters, and we cannot allow you to charge your vehicle unless you have reserved an RV site with full hookups. If you do not see an open site for the days you'd like to get away, please contact us. Sometimes we can make other arrangements, allowing you to stay.

Well, lemme tell ya, this here’s the view from my little ol' parking spot. We got ourselves some good ol’ electricity 'n' them fancy low voltage lights all 'round the place. Makes it real nice when the sun goes down, ya know? Perfect for a campin’ trip, if ya ask me!

My friend and I had such a lovely time! Our host Ryan was beyond helpful and kind to make sure our stay went well. The site was well maintained and easy to find. We also had a great open sky to stargaze and fresh snow in the morning which made our experience so much more fun. This was my first Hipcamp experience and it was a wonderful first impression!

Best site I've ever stayed at! Good amount of space between sites but still an easy walk to the kitchen+water, outhouses were clean and convenient with an excellent sense of interior decoration! We stayed at Birch Grove on a particularly cold, rainy, and windy Halloween weekend and Nick already had a large tarp set up over the easiest tent spot.... plus a cow skull and a few candles for the ambiance. Excellent vibes 👌

Incredible site with multiple pitches spread out around the land. We were lucky enough to be put on the beat site...on site 7 (despite booking the field site). What a view and great facilities. Fit pit with grill for cooking whilst watching the stars and white mountains. Camp cooking kitchen and shower near the main house. Fire wood for sale. Compost toilet at each site. The only problem was we wished we could have stayed longer! Look out for the friendly moose and check out the little boat on the pond. Fab site 10/10.

Nick is a terrific host and it's obvious that this hipcamp is a labor of love. Kudos to Nick for preserving this beautiful property for generations to enjoy especially in the face of constant development and expansion northward. It truly is a sanctuary. Wildlife is terrific and diverse. Lots of deer, birds, Moose and great privacy between sites. I'll return for sure!

Big circular drive with lots of space. I like it. Ryan was quick to respond and he checked in to make sure all was well. Little details are welcoming, like lights, toilet stall, picnic table, and fire ring. Statewide fire ban while I was there. The highway is close but the noise wasn’t too bad for me. I fly fished the river but did have to drive for public river access.

We had a wonderful stay at Hidden Pines! Chris and Ellen were incredibly accommodating — they communicated clearly, respected our privacy, and made sure we were well taken care of throughout our visit. The hookups worked perfectly — clean water with great pressure, and everything was easy to access and set up. The location is absolutely beautiful, tucked into the woods yet close to everything in the White Mountains. The site was level, peaceful, and ideal for our camper. We’ll definitely be visiting again.

Our tent and yurt sites are located on 5 acres of private woods and are 4 acres apart to allow for maximum privacy for our guests! Parking for both sites are shared. The tent is 50 yards up a rustic wooded path through the woods and the yurt is an 800 yard (10 minute) uphill walk from the parking area. Both sites are adjacent to our local network of hiking/biking trails that connect to the summit of Mount Agassiz, which offers stunning views of Franconia Notch. Additionally, within a half hour drive, you have access to some of the best hiking in the North East. We are happy to provide recommendations! The surrounding towns are home to three different breweries, numerous restaurants serving up delicious food and quaint main streets. Through the generous permission of surrounding landowners and the stewardship of the Bethlehem Trails Association, guests can access this trail network to enjoy the views from the summit of Mount Agassiz for top notch single-track mountain biking. We live one town over and are just a phone call away. If you walk the trails, you may encounter a friendly neighbor's dog but all our guests enjoy the privacy and solitude the mountain provides. Easy Come Easy Go - right off 302 and has a circular gravel driveway easy for RV pull-in with a picnic table and fire ring. --------------------------------------------- Located in Bethlehem at the top of the White Mountains close to endless hiking and biking. Both downtown Bethlehem and Littleton are within a 15 minute drive, supplying many choices for food and shopping. Rainy and need more options? Take the beautiful 1 hour drive east on 302 to North Conway and visit the big outlet stores. If the weather is better, and you want a more scenic way there with hiking -- take the 25 minute drive down to Lincoln and travel the amazing Kancamangus Scenic Byway (Route 112). This is 35 miles through the White Mountains with no gas stations, so you might want to top off while in Lincoln. Thirty minutes east is the Mount Washington Cog Railway, and you will pass the historic Mount Washington Hotel on the way. Fifteen minutes south and you can be at Franconia Notch State Park.

My 8-acre property used to be a hay field. The farm is long gone and I've been reclaiming the open meadow for a few years now. I only mow once a year in order to leave flowers and grasses for the birds and insects, including the honey bees and monarch butterflies who love the milkweed, goldenrod, asters and other wild flowers that grow here. I keep just a few narrow paths and the campsite mowed, You will be sharing your site with the wild world, including the owls who live here. Bears are not infrequent visitors and food should be carefully kept out of your tent and preferably locked in your vehicle with the windows up. I have a small house on the property and keep to myself at the other end of the open field from where your campsite is. I am available if you have a problem or need help with something, but you are on your own otherwise! Because my house is beyond your parking area, I do drive by going about my own business, but I can't see your campsite from my house unless I stand in my upstairs loft and look out the window at the other side of the house. I usually only do that so I can see if your vehicle is here or not. Learn more about this land: Pitch a tent or two on the flat grassy edge of my meadow and enjoy the proximity to town and all the outdoor sports the White Mountains offer. There is afternoon shade over the site. This is a primitive site - no electricity, no running water, no security lights, and no covered pad. There is a picnic table, a fire pit suitable for cooking over, and a clean wooden outhouse. It's very private and although my house is nearby, I'm happy to just leave you alone. I sell bundles of firewood, but you can bring your own, if you want. Please just don't bring any wood in from outside this immediate area - I don't want any new non-native insects being brought in.

The best camping in Franconia Notch State Park, NH guide

About

In the heart of the White Mountain National Forest, Franconia Notch is the perfect setting for adventure. Jump in Echo Lake, climb the stone cliffs, or mountain bike along the Recreational Trail. The park’s 10 hiking trails include a section of the Appalachian Trail, as well as the otherworldly Flume Gorge path. If you prefer to check out the scenery from the comfort of your car, you can drive on the I-93 between the high peaks of the Kinsman and Franconia mountain ranges then hop on the Cannon Mountain tram for an elevated view. The forested Lafayette Place Campground has 97 tent sites, while Cannon Mountain has seven sites for RVs with hookups.

Tips for snagging a campsite

  1. Of Lafayette’s 97 sites, 88 are by reservation only and seven are offered on a first-come, first-served basis. 
  2. Reservations are not required for the RV campground but are highly encouraged, especially in summer.
  3. Bookings can easily be secured online or by phone, up to 11 months in advance.

When to go

As the most popular activities in the park are swimming, paddling and fishing in Echo Lake, summer is the busiest season. There’s plenty to do year-round, however. Hiking and biking are excellent during the cooler months of spring and fall, while winter offers the chance to snowshoe on multi-use trails and ski in the park's Cannon Mountain Ski Area.

Know before you go

  • During the off-season, between mid-October through May, only electricity is available so RVs need to be self-contained.
  • Bike rentals are available from Sport Thoma in Lincoln. Shuttle service to Franconia Notch is available.
  • Pets are permitted in the designated dog walks near the Tramway and Flume parking lots only, not in the campground.

Lafayette Place Campground
HUGE campground but the only one that is at the trailhead for the fantastic Franconia Ridge loop so its worth it. Hit the trailhead early and you will be back in camp while everyone is still on the trail which makes it perfect for a mid afternoon snoozer. Showers are incredibly nice, fifty cents for 4 minutes.

Lafayette Place Campground
Best place to go if you are not familiar with the area or don't want to drive far as there are many trails that start at the campground, from mountains to bike trails to leisure trails. I have been coming here since I was little and have never had a bad experience.

Water! If you can't fill up along your trek, bring purifying tablets - they're cheap and will keep you from getting sick.
