Check in is after 1pm and check out is strictly before 10.30am, we promise you will get your 'Heilen Coo' fix 😝 We have Souvineers and firewood please bring cash 😍 Be mindful around all animals as they get to know you, be smart please. Kids can bring bikes, must be supervised at all times, no screaming or running. Pets are welcome, we have 2 dogs Jesse and Cane, who are both very friendly. Our Maremma is an Italian breed of livestock gaurdian dog, he does bark a little at night to protect our pets, which goes hand in hand with all of our other farm noises 😉 Our Neighbours have fish farms, you may hear the odd gun go off, just to scare the shags away from feeding in the ponds. We have 100 acres of paradise with many sites to choose from, either along our 300m of Burnett river frontage or along the winding Duingal creek tucked into seclusion. For the bigger vans we have sites up on top of the property overlooking the Burnett with just a short walk down to the water. There are NO Ammenities available so own toilet is a MUST! Bring your fishing rods, kayaks and walking shoes. There's some great fishing here including barramundi, perch, yellow belly mullet, gar - and plenty of catfish to keep the kids entertained! Don’t have a kayak, no worries. We also have kayaks available for hire. We also have the most magnificent sunrises and sunsets here, with beautiful birdlife including hawks and water eagles. Great for bird watching and photography! All campsites have access to the water unless we are advised per booking. Less than 5km down the road you will find Wallaville where there is a great local Wallaville pub, and a corner store that offers great pizza. Telstra is available for communication, and we are also only 18km from Gin Gin and around 50km from Bundaberg. Campfires permitted in the designated areas only, bring your own fire pit when possible as we have a limited number of fire pits available. when fire restrictions/bans are not in place. Plenty of fallen timber around the place to collect for firewood. I suggest U bring wood for the ist night, In case it has rained & saves the hassle first up allowing U to chill out sooner 🥂 Well behaved pets welcome, but they must be kept under control and you must pick up after them. Great location and only a short drive to the beach. The camp itself is pretty simple but it’s what we expected when we booked. I would say to avoid this site if you have a low clearance 2WD as we struggled a little bit to get out with our campervan. Overall we would stay again purely for the location 😊

We had a great time. Very private and a lovely place to while away the hours. Excellent directions and support from the host made this an ideal weekend get away. We will definitely look at returning. The site was huge and we had no problem manoeuvring our caravan into the spot. The dogs loved wandering on lead around the river edge. Thanks so much for having us. We really enjoyed the stay.

My favourite place to camp is at Gumtree Dam Highlands, the place, the animals, the peace & the people. Your hosts, Chrissy & Duane go above & beyond to look after their animals & guests. You'll feel safe & relaxed, it's a perfect place for solo campers, couples, families & groups. Highlights are definitely feeding and brushing the Highland Cows, and watching all the other farm animals. Not to forget beautiful sunrises & sunsets too. If you want to explore the property there's lots to see walking or bike riding around, and/or explore the local area - 10 minute drive to Childers, and 25 minutes to Woodgate Beach. We had a very relaxing stay at Kolan River Retreat, from the time we arrived right through to unfortunately having to leave this spot. We met Peter at the gate and he gave us all the info we needed for our stay, Peter is a gentleman and keeps his property very well maintained. We selected our campsite and set up for 6 nights on a beautiful shaded grassy spot next to the river, we loved that we were able to wonder around our site bare feet on the grass. Being there through the week it felt as though we had the place to ourselves. The weather was quite warm while we were there but, there was a beautiful breeze blowing through that made our stay even more pleasant. Did I mention the big night sky…beautiful!

We enjoyed the friendly atmosphere initiated by John. Lot's of room for us in the Main Camp. My 7.7m long Mitsubishi Rosa (bus to motorhome conversion) handled the interesting track in from the main road without any issues at all. I quite like this park and look forward to future camps there.
