We camped near the river.. Beautiful open, green grassy camp sites with access to water for washing boat, car etc. Nice shady tree to camp by was lovely in the afternoon. Great view over the river on sunset. Toilet and shower only a short walk. Warm shower and clean porta loo. River was very close but not easily accessible through mud and thick mangroves. It was only short walk/drive to boat ramp though. Very friendly and accomodation host. We will be back!

Great property with plenty of flat grassy areas and river access.
Toilets and showers well maintained.

Nice peaceful place, Peter was great and very helpful and friendly. At this time of year it was not busy which was fantastic. Will go back again.
What an absolutely gorgeous camp area. Peter was super friendly and informative. Facilities were great; nice and clean. Our family of five loved the big open space and being right on the river for a spot of fishing. Highly recommend and would definitely choose to stay here again. Thank you!
Awesome camp site, friendly people on the site, the place has great amenities to make the stay comfortable. The host was super inviting and helped with anything we needed. Would definitely return.

Awesome setup. Plenty if space and quiet. Hosts were nice people and very welcoming. Can’t wait to get back out there. Highly reccommend this retreat.
We stayed for 4 nights with our 2 little dogs and wished we stayed longer. We didn’t go with any expectations but when we got there it was the most peaceful experience. Beautiful countryside, neat, tidy and a breath of fresh air.

What hasn't been said already?! This place is fantastic. From the start, Peter gave us a warm welcome. We had a great spot right on the river, perfect for a walk and swim at low tide, and great fishing when the tide came in.
Plenty of space to spread out and take in all the wildlife; birds, cows, and fish. Every amenity you could ask for.
We'll be back, next time with some friends too :)

Enjoyed our stay. Peter was very helpful about where would be the best spot, due to windy weather. Our site was great.
What a wonderful Hipcamp. Complete with super clean showers and toilets, this place is a must go!! Huge site, peace and quiet complete with river views and gorgeous sunsets! We will be back again for sure.
Loved this location. In between back of cane fields and the banks of a river. Easy drive in and plenty of room for everyone! At least 3 toilets and showers. Showers well kept with nice warm water. Toilets are portaloos but well kept. Good boat ramp and from ramp to mouth is about 7km. All and all, very good Hipcamp!

Large grassy area with plenty of small fire places, well kept, only small access to river at boat ramp at roads end. Just didn't meet our expectations and requirements.
Wonderful camp site. Exceptional service. Wished we could stay longer.

Great spot to stop for a few days. We were only there for the night but would have stayed longer if we had the time. River access is quite limited from the bank other than the boat ramp area although you can get out the front of the mangroves on a lower tide for some good fishing. Lots of places to set up camp with fire pits and water. Great toilet and shower facility is a major plus. Awesome spot to kick a ball or play some cricket with lots of open space. Only real downside was the amount of midgies and mozzies which can’t be helped. Would recommend this place for anyone looking at staying in the region.

Peter was just amazing. He met me at the gate explained everything. As a female solo traveller he was very reassuring.

Definitely take bug spray as there were a few bugs biting.
Neat and clean toilet and shower facilities. The well maintained property was perfect for my pups.
I camped at Kolan river retreat for the Easter holiday and I had such an amazing time there. The place is lovely, big spacious, and clean. This place is lovely if you have children’s who loves running around, I would go back again and bring more people. The view was amazing but during the day time it gets pretty windy so make sure ur covers are well secured. Thank you for having us camp here.
For a larger group I highly recommend, right on the river big grassy areas to spread out and enjoy I loved camping on Peter and Melinda’s land I will be going there again in the future. Thank you so much

Peter put us up in a great spot overlooking a few other vacant spots which were a bit closer to the river. The option for a warm shower was welcomed after our very rainey and wet drive thus far.
