Photos do not match with campsite. If you're looking for a spot to swim, do not come here.
We booked 2 nights, ended up staying overnight and going back home the following morning. Also advised friends and family not to go because the midges were horrible. Even with insect repellent, they were eating us alive.
The drive to the actual campsite is exciting. You have to drive through sand, and it feels like you are nice and remote. However, the campsite itself is pretty basic. It's an open field with a few trees, no privacy, no scenery, no views whatsoever. Nothing to explore. There was only another family camping there, they were on the other side of the camp and we could still see them. If you're used to camping in caravan parks, maybe you wouldn't think it is too bad.
It must be a good fishing spot, thats the only thing I can think of.
Daniel was friendly upon arrival, he was very welcoming and helpful. It is just not a place where we would go back unfortunately.
Loved our 2 nights.
Comfortable for family stay.
Toilets & showers always clean.
Enjoyable walking around the property, the delight in the Fairy Glen was good for the big kids (us) as much as for our daughter.
Hosts were welcoming & Rachel was great to talk to in regards to the Bush regeneration on their property.
Thumbs up to Daniel & his tractor helping those getting stuck in the sand . Was a good way to meet other campers 😆😊

Beautiful flat grassy area. Very quiet. Entry is definitely for 4wd but Daniel will help if you get stuck. Follow the map from your email link or you could get lost. A pontoon there for fishing at high tide or you can walk a sand bar for low tide fishing. Other national park tracks around if you feel like exploring but watch out for the grumpy old man that thinks he owns the national park.

Great camp for time of year we were there.
Big paddock and choice of spots.
Track in is 4WD only
Daniel's Hipcamp is really well set up next to the river, it was easy to find and the facilities are good. We were lucky to have the whole place to ourselves for most of the time we were there which was also a blessing.
Daniel was able to provide us with firewood and a rope to tie up our dogs.

Pros: Overall we had a great experience. Lovely grounds with a fun 4wd experience getting in.
Fairy Garden for the kids. Appreciate the free drinking water.
Cons: Midges are horrendous though, we are 2 days home and still covered and uncomfortable. Spray didnt seem to make a difference.
Also - annoyed to find out at checkin that the showers required several dollar coins per shower (which wasn’t advertised when we booked).

Look, it’s not a bad Hipcamp, just not a traditional one (with lots of space). Given the fact that so many are packed in, the 2 toilets and 2 showers were always packed. One morning the wait for a toilet was 6 ppl deep.
Otherwise, it was nice and shady, jetty was great, good fishing (muddies, flathead and brim) and host was very helpful.

We had a lovely stay at Riverside at Burrum Heads — the name truly reflects the experience. The views of the river were absolutely beautiful and relaxing. The property had ample space, which made it perfect for unwinding and enjoying time together without feeling cramped.
The only thing we weren’t quite prepared for was the midges — they can be a bit persistent, especially around the water. Definitely recommend bringing insect repellent to make the most of your stay.
Overall, a peaceful and scenic getaway that we’d happily recommend!

It was relaxing and spacious. Massive off-leash arena for the dogs was brilliant. Grounds are really well kept.
Any photographs of beach are an inaccurate reflection of the campground. We expected to be able to see sandy beach river frontage, where we could swim and walk; but there is none of that; only mangroves and sea scrubs.
It is a perfect spot for people who have a boat/tinnie and like to fish.

The site was beautiful to set up for a day or two, without a boat or any water activity equipment I wouldn’t recommend more that 2 days in summer as it’s super hot so can get stuffy if you aren’t spending the days out on the water.
Make sure you bring bug spray with deet!
However owner was super helpful and does sell it on site with ice and firewood!
The facilities were super clean and well kept especially the showers and toilets (they are a bit of a walk from camp)
Some more info on the best route in would have been good but we managed to get in on the track beside the farm. We did however leave on the track though the national park to the town which was wayyyyy easier and a lot flatter.
Over all a lovely stay and would do again maybe try it out in winter for a few days!

The property was beautiful, maintained really well, camp grounds were spacious and well set out, plenty of shade too. Very peaceful and relaxing, great fishing from the pontoon on the incoming tide. Will definitely be visiting again.

Really nice campsite, very quiet even during the busy periods. Heaps of green space to spread everyone out - You’re able to choose your own site. Would advise that if you need to go to the bathroom that you go when you feel the urge as it’s a bit of a walk depending on where you are. Will definitely be coming back here again. Showers and toilets are always very clean and well maintained. Would 100% recommend this site for people as it would be a great place for kids and families.

The camp, hosts and facilities were great. Be aware that you definitely need a 4x4 vehicle to access the campground. Unfortunately for us the neighbouring property was home to motorbikes, dune buggies and guns. Not quite the serenity we had imagined.

Beautiful well maintained spot. Boat ramp for smaller boats. Toilets and showers clean. We had no trouble with sandflies due to windy weather but would definitely recommend coming prepared for them.

It was a beautiful and peaceful spot for a calming rest. Definitely would recommend. But also strongly suggest you take lots of repellent!! The midgies were pretty full on in the evenings and early morning until the breeze blew them all away!

Fantastic camp. Showers and toilets were nice and clean. Nice big open grassy area, even with quote a few other campers, we weren't on top of each other. Awesome hosts. No fish but got a few muddies. Will definitely be back here again.

Great spot friendly service. Amenities were spotless.
We loved our kid free weekend at riverside! The drive in was a bit of fun, grounds were very well maintained and the river was fantastic.
Toilets always clean and the showers were great temp.
Dog also had a blast.
All campers were considerate of others.
We did get stuck on the way out and Dan was more than happy to help however we managed to dig ourselves out eventually and didn’t need the tractor.
Will definitely be back for a weekend of fishing with the kids.
Great spot for the right time of year when midgies aren’t prevalent. Plenty of space for bush camping and owners are very friendly. 4WD access requires clearer instructions in particular the sand road, where this could bog many inexperienced or even experienced drivers especially if towing van. .

Plenty of space with nice level grass sites. Ideal for groups , families & anyone wanting to escape to the bush, yet so close to town if you need anything. Basic but clean amenities. Would highly recommend.
Absolutely delightful and the hosts are so informative and lovely.
