I really enjoyed my car camping at Makowata Farm. This place is perfect for relaxed, confident travellers who just want to gaze at the fields and watch the chooks. Very quiet and peaceful with a very hot shower, toilet, water and power. The road in is currently being worked on. It is a farm, so you will be woken by a rooster.

We absolutely loved our stay! The property was beautiful, with lots of animals and an abundance of fruit trees. The whole experience felt really special. The hosts were incredibly welcoming, friendly and hospitable, and made us feel right at home.
We had a wonderful time and will definitely stay again. Highly recommend!
Great place to stay a night or two. Very peaceful. Absolutely lovely hosts who are a wealth of knowledge especially when it comes to their self sufficient farm. Runs on permaculture principles. Lots of walks through the orchard and paddocks where cows and sheep graze.

From the moment we arrived, Daryl and his dog Yoda made us feel right at home. Daryl is an incredibly generous host who not only welcomed us onto his beautiful property but also shared his extensive knowledge of permaculture and what he calls “lazy man’s farming.”
Our only regret was not staying longer to hear more of his stories and learn from his experience. During our stay we fed the cows, met all the chickens, enjoyed the peaceful surroundings, and even left with an abundance of fresh fruit.
If you’re looking for a genuine farm stay with a host who is passionate, welcoming, and happy to share his knowledge, this is the place. We arrived as guests and left feeling like we’d made a lifelong friend.
Thanks again for everything, Daryl. We’ll definitely be back!

Great location near enough to the highway, but far enough you can't hear it. Milky way was on full display at this rural food oasis. Loved the chooks. Thanks

Campsite paddock was beautiful green grass and very clean, was really nice to be able to walk freely and safely around the property , all inhabitants of the property were very friendly, we spent two very relaxing nights there and would definitely look forward to staying there again.
Darryl & Sion made us feel exceptionally welcome on their property. Thoroughly enjoyed our 2 nights camping on their beautiful well-kept land, getting the opportunity to interact with different animals was a bonus.
We loved staying at the farm! Even though we only stayed one night we felt very welcome and relaxed! All the animals were so cute and we got to feel a lamb its milk 🥰 Toilet was clean and shower was steaming hot, what else could you ask for!!

It was a lovely place, enjoyed wandering around the place and checking out the animals
The site was easy to find and Sion and his family were very welcoming. They even offered to show us around in the morning (they have baby chicks hatching, chickens, etc). We were able to use their toilet and shower facilities, fill up our water tank and hook up to the electricity. It was very quiet in the evening so we got a great night's sleep. Overall, a very pleasant stay, we would recommend!

Lovely place for a camp. The hosts were friendly and helpful and left you to your own devices. You can the have a wonder around the property, banana trees, sheep , cows and abundant wildlife Amazing night sky for star gazing. Would highly recommend.

We took a 22” caravan and a camper truck here. Reasonably flat and power available if you request it in advance. Heaps of fruit trees all around and you are actually encouraged to go and explore. Daryl was very knowledgeable about the things he was growing and happy to share the process that he was going through. Who knew mulberries and bananas were so important!
Toilet and shower available. Pretty bush style toilet but flushing etc. Didn’t use the shower on the property but it looked fine.
Chickens, sheep and cattle to have a look at. Chickens were very friendly. All in all a peaceful getaway. Rained most of the time but that was all good. I would definitely recommend for a few nights away.

It was a nice location but a bit messy and I didn't feel very welcomed. I camped near a big green + rubbish pile that was being added to while I was there. Toilet under construction.
Lovely hipcamp! Hosts were very welcoming and helpful. Our kids loved all the animals and were lucky enough to see a few baby animals. Beautiful property. Would recommend to anyone passing through.

Sion was very accommodating for us arriving after 11pm which we were very grateful for! We had everything set up that we needed and there was plenty of wildlife around too - lovely spot!
We had 1 night at Makowata Farm and it was lovely. We wouldn’t hesitate to return again. The night sky here was the best we’ve ever experienced - I truly recommend a stay. The shower on site was also really enjoyable!

Flexibility in terms of where you can setup on the property, friendly hosts and interesting to wander around the permaculture food forest they are establishing.
We had a relaxing, low-key evening here on our journey home. Easy to find and ample space to set up, nice flat ground is a plus. Enjoyed the birdlife, both wild and domestic, and the friendly dog.

Great spot this place is! The owner is a legend and very knowledgeable to the his land and a general great yarn. Highly recommend swinging past this place :)

Amazing place... kids got to see the animals... there was lambs and all kinds of poultry... the facilties are decent and Sion and his dad are just so down to earth.. great place for families 🥰
