With the state capital Brisbane as your starting point, head to Queensland’s first National Park, Lamington National Park (established in 1915), for cooler climes and ancient Gondwana rainforests. The south-east’s subtropical climate means lots of sunshine, perfect for any camping trip.Cairns is the gateway to the Great Barrier Reef, with island and mainland camping to suit all, with a choice of 19 National Parks. Don flippers and snorkel and hit the water, explore the 165-million-year-old Daintree Rainforest, or head inland to the wonders of Undara Volcanic National Park to camp near ancient lava tubes.Living up to its name, the Sunshine Coast basks in its many natural attractions, from 100km of beaches to forested hinterland. Spot koalas in Noosa National Park, take a kayak up-river to camp in the Noosa Everglades, or head north along the beach in the Great Sandy National Park. The volcanic peaks of the Glass House Mountains National Park offer hikers and climbers a challenge.From Airlie Beach, take off for the green islands of Whitsunday Islands National Park or stick to the coast, exploring Conway National Park, where you may be joined by rock wallabies. Despite its holiday atmosphere, it’s easy to get away from it all. The best islands for hiking and camping are Whitsunday Island and Hook Island.Straddling the Tropic of Capricorn, this somewhat under-rated region has much to offer. Visit in summer for turtle nesting and hatching at Mon Repos Conservation Park, or head offshore to Lady Elliot Island. The main towns are Bundaberg and Gladstone, but it’s worth checking out the coastal villages of Agnes Water and 1770 or heading inland to explore the trails and gorges of the spectacular Carnarvon National Park.

For the adventurous campers who use swags/tents, we suggest a stretcher and a gazebo with walls for a little comfort. Some areas need 4wd also. Check in is after 1pm and check out is strictly before 10.30am, we promise you will get your 'Heilen Coo' fix 😝 We have Souvineers and firewood please bring cash 😍 Be mindful around all animals as they get to know you, be smart please. Kids can bring bikes, must be supervised at all times, no screaming or running. Pets are welcome, we have 2 dogs Jesse and Cane, who are both very friendly. Our Maremma is an Italian breed of livestock gaurdian dog, he does bark a little at night to protect our pets, which goes hand in hand with all of our other farm noises 😉 Our Neighbours have fish farms, you may hear the odd gun go off, just to scare the shags away from feeding in the ponds. It's totally safe. Feel free to put on some music and have a few drinks by the campfire, but we want our farm to be a place where our animals and our guests feel safe and relaxed, so we do not accommodate noisy parties. Relax and unwind with a book or go for a bush walk and listen to the kookaburras. Watch Sea Eagles, pelican, wild budgies, rainbow lorikeet and more. All your cares will feel like they are a million miles away as you soak up nature, we guarantee you will have an amazing experience. 6 Kms in at our historic Childers there is a Woolworths, IGA, great pubs for lunch, cafes and bakeries, plus a swimming pool, museum, snakes down under and Woodgate beach 25 mins away.

The knight Ranch is a small hobby farm with beautiful flat grassy fields, Established trees providing plenty of shade. Wildlife a plenty. With resident animals tawny frog mouth and ducks. The camp/caravan site is isolated out in the rear paddock. The most pristine area on the property. As soon as you arrive you will begin to relax. Easy access off wallace road and easy pull through to the back paddock. Open grassy field with established trees overlooking a small dam and bushland. The perfect place to set up, chuck a roast on and crack a cold one. Campfire locations set up with rocks. Sunrises through the trees over the wetland/bushes. Close proximity (driving) to the river for a spot of fishing, the bay for an early morning walk or explore with the kids and the local tavern for some adult time. A walk up Wallace road on an evening is quite nice if you are looking to stretch your legs. Glass house mountains are a 20-25min drive for some great hikes and if you make it to the top some worthy photos. Brisbane is 45min drive with no traffic. Bribie island is a 22min drive with lots of great cafes and flat walks available. IMPORTANT: The Ranch is on the corner of beachmere and Wallace road. Access is off Wallace road. After you turn onto Wallace road it’s the first right at the yellow letterbox. Pull through and down to the left. Through the gate next to the container out into the back paddock. Please keep this gate shut. There is a designated area for Hip-Camp straight and to the right near the fire pit and bucket. If you have animals please clean up after them and dogs are to be on lead if they do not recall or like to chase wildlife. As we have wonderful bird life along with lizards and chickens on the property. The fire pit has bricks around it. You can help yourself to any kindling but it’s BYO firewood. Please do not chop logs or collect logs from the property.

What a fabulous spot to camp for the night. It’s a secret little gem this farm and the animals were just beautiful. Cows, horses, kangaroos and a beautiful kingfisher eating fish from the creek in the morning kept us entertained as we cooked breakfast over the camp fire. It’s incredibly peaceful, safe, and so private. Perfect for older kids like my teen who loved it and my little dog who was well behaved and didn’t wander off. We had epic weather also and went for swims in the clear creek to freshen up. We will be back to this glorious property and feel so grateful for the opportunity to camp here. Thank you so much J&T.

Beautiful campsite and lovely owner. I had originally booked site 5 thinking I couldn’t reach site 3 (with waterfall) as I travel with a campervan and not a 4x4, but with the weather being dry and the site being free, Sheree offered me to camp there instead. Stunning very private spot, I LOVED it and had to drag myself to check-out! Site 5 would have been lovely as well anyway! Cute amenities area too. I recommend 100%.

Stayed 2x nights here in my campervan, solo woman traveller, and it was perfect! Beautiful rainforest walk out the back and swimming spots. Coffee van open 7 days and run by the owners. Recommend downloading the Hipcamp app first so your booking details are up to date. Owners are new but were kind in showing me where to get firewood, the creek and my camping spot. There’s no showers, just portaloos so be prepared. Highly recommend. Will stay again!

We had a lovely family camping trip on Katrina's land. The kids loved watching the cows and seeing the farmers at work and we had beautiful clear views of the stars at night. There was also plenty of space for the kids to run around. The bathroom and shared barn facilities were exceptional, best quality and cleanliness of any hipcamp we've been to so far.

We had a great stay at Lakeside Camp, Beachmere. We were in Site 5, which suited us perfectly as a couple without kids — it’s a little further from the playground, so nice and quiet compared to some of the other sites. There’s the option to fill up water on the edge of the campground if needed, which is handy. The location is an absolute gem — so close to Brisbane and just a short drive over to the beaches of Bribie Island. There’s also a small supermarket about 5 minutes away for any forgotten essentials. We stayed midweek and found it very peaceful (though we’ve heard it can get quite popular on weekends). Loved all the birdlife around — magpies, butcher birds and kookaburras made it feel like a proper Aussie camping experience. Would definitely stay again!

Weekend Trip to 100 Acre Estate

We stayed on the hilltop site as we were trialling our off grid set up for 2 nights and wanted to be close to power if we needed it (which we didn’t need in the end thankfully). For other campers that stay there, just be aware that the power outlets are only 10amp, so you will need an adapter if you want to plug into power. The cows came and said hello to us as we were driving up the hill and escorted us half way up, which was very nice to see. We had to engage 4wd to get up the hill towing the van as there were a few loose rocks on the track, but no bother at all. The view back towards the east was fantastic to sit on our chairs and take that in. We used the fireplace the first night we were there which was nice and relaxing as well. There was even a bunny rabbit in the herb garden that said hello to us as it scurried away to take shelter. We went and had a look at the creek and orchard campsites, which are unpowered. The creek site was a very nice site with a couple of fire pits and a track that took you down to the crystal clear waters of the creek (which was quite cold, too cold for a dip). The orchard site has a few spots with fire pits and it didn’t appear to be easy to get to the creek below if you wanted to. Overall though, a fantastic and relaxing stay and just what we needed.
