Nestled right up against the escarpment at an elevation of 450m, this high-end, off-grid 40 acre property effectively offers your own private slice of Macquarie Pass National Park - amazing views, giant cedar trees, fern forests, cascading waterfalls and palms surround.
It feels remote but it's only 90 min from Sydney, 30 min to Kiama and just 15 min to the shops. The property also offers the only hiking path up to the top of the escarpment for some truly amazing views.
As of September 2025, many of the trails on the property have been degraded by the rains and are now challenging for 2WD cars. If you're towing or it's wet we recommend AWD or 4WD vehicles.
Since this is coastal rainforest and it has been very wet, expect leeches anywhere it is damp. These are easily kept at bay with deet and or trousers tucked into socks.
We're not particularly price sensitive - until all those rate rises - but we are extremely value sensitive so we set out to make your stay extremely good value for your hard earned money. The land itself does most of the heavy lifting but also personal service and of course there's Lana to fall in love with.
Note, Mellows Rd is 2.6km long and rises 400m - in parts the road is a 15 degree grade. It's all paved but narrow so if you are towing a large heavy load, it's going to strain your car.

Recycling bins are provided, otherwise campers are required to take their rubbish with them. Wi-Fi and Telstra coverage are available.
Rainforest Gateway is located approximately 8klms along Grady's Creek Road, just 20 klms north of Kyogle and 15 klms from the Queensland border on the popular scenic tourist route, Lions Road. Kyogle is a bustling town with an IGA supermarket, MTB riding tracks, lovely gift shops, cinema, bowling alley, and a selection of dining outlets. For those wanting to immerse themselves in nature, the Border Ranges National Park is a short drive away.
Please note Lions Road is temporarily closed for road repairs and expected to be reopened late January 2026. We can still be reached on Gradys Creek Road off Summerland Way, ignore Google maps if it directs you to Lynches Creek Rd.

The property is located just off a scenic drive, over a 2wd accessible creek crossing. It

Framed by the rugged border range National Parks "Mindoo" is 1100 acres of rolling green hills dissected by the pure, cascading, waters of the Cataract River which provide a number of private riverside campsites. Campers are encouraged to meander along the continually changing River and explore its many secluded swimming holes and enjoy the abundant wildlife that cohabitates with the Angus/Wagyu cow herd. Direct access to the neighbouring National Parks and State Forests offers an array of day trips to hikers, mountain bikers, or horse riders where they can discover the natural treasures of Basket Swamp and Boonoo Boonoo Falls, Woolool Woolooni, among others.
For those who require a little more comfort, and lets face it we all do at times, the Mindoo Cabin is available. Featuring three bedrooms, open plan living/dining/kitchen,and a shady deck overlooking the River the cabin sleeps eight and still allows visitors to partake in all the adventures that "Mindoo" offers with the benefit of a comfortable rest when the day is done.
Unfortunately horse riding is no longer covered by our insurance policy. You are able to bring your horses, however evidence of your own insurance policy must be provided.
Be as adventurous or as restful as you please as both options are freely available. Mountain Biking, Hiking, or just riding your hammock and relaxing we are sure you will enjoy your time at "Mindoo". All of our river sites are designated and are space apart.
As most of our sites are on the river and have farm tracks to access, if it is wet we may have to move you to a different site. 4wds are recommended for all sites and are required for some site. Please read the listing for the campsite you are wanting to book. Some of our sites do not suit caravans. All roads require high clearance vans.
If you do not like dogs or your own dogs are not very sociable Mindoo may not be the place for you. Daisy the Doodle (Golden Retriever/Poodle) and Paul the Pig Dog (a very gentle Bull Mastif/Catahoula) like to come and say hello to campers at The Park & The Junction.

CAMP 3 is a private in the bush area and will cater for five or so rooftops tents, difficult for caravans or large vehicles.
CAMP 4 smaller possibly two tents or rooftops secluded in the bush.
CAMP 5 similar to camp 3 in the bush and completely private great for a get together with friends.
CAMP 6 is the very top of the mountain with a long wide strip of cleared area with bush on both sides and a window at the end to the valley below, very private, must be fully contained and would suit most vehicles, may lose traction if pulling a heavy caravan or trailer.

The facilities of the camping are quite luxurious some guests labelling them "better than at home" so you can enjoy the bush experience & still have the comfort of a home.
Here you can discover amazing wildlife such as kangaroos, wallabies, wombats, cockatoos, lyre birds and a lot of other birds (designated bird drinking stations through a WIRES program which has a lot of success.)
Bring a camera and take in the incredible sights such as wildlife, cliffs, caves, and a magical view of Mount Yengo and Moruben from the top of the property.

Campers can chill out with friends, hike, explore, swim, take pics of wildlife, birds, help the owner or chat about living off grid.
With shallow creeks , swimming hole, heated spa with a view, BBQ, picnic table, Cliffs, hiking/bushwalking, mountain biking, feeding the cows, sheep or chickens - you will have a great time.
Don't forget the hot shower and flushing toilets.
Campers can have private sites away from others or with multiple friends and their set ups!
Our Local coffee shop based in Glen Alice, called From The Paddock is open Thursday to Sunday and offer great coffee, and food.
Local sites also include Glen Davis, Dunns Swamp and the Glen Alice Trail.
Bird lovers from all over the world come to explore the vast range of birds that call our valley home either full time or part of their residence of choice! As one of the worlds top 11 sites for bird watching, make sure to have your camera readying

Fire pits available (some with bbq plate). Amazing views, gas bbq and picnic table on the hill also here to enjoy.
We also have cabins and or tiny houses available for accomodation. Self contained with kitchenette and bathroom.
Offering spectacular views you won't be disappointed with well travelled guests saying the view is some of the best in the world without the mass of tourists around! .
Note: we are a quiet camp, family, and pet friendly, meaning a place of rest and adventure, not a place to blast music and annoy others. Please take parties, loud music elsewhere!

Weekend Trip to Mellows Ridge
Beautiful, quiet spot. The host was lovely and he really had thought of everything, from a spa, to providing firewood, even added a sensor light to the bathroom for night time. Could come and go as we pleased and had the whole place to ourselves.
Bed was comfy, no complaints at all.
And in case anyone’s wondering, yes the dog in the photos is part of the experience 😂 she’ll come down to play fetch she’s a very good girl.

I can’t get enough of this place! It’s such a quick and easy escape into nature.
Private and tranquil, plenty of bush walks, hot tub looking out over the valley at sunset, and a campfire under the stars.

We had such a lovely experience. The staff were friendly and welcoming, which made us feel comfortable from the moment we arrived.
The location is beautiful, with the creek running nearby, it was the perfect spot to unwind and enjoy nature.
My kids had a great time exploring the surroundings and playing by the creek.
We’re already looking forward to coming back!

We stayed in the luxury family Safari tent and loved it! Super comfy bed, our girls loved the bunk beds, and everything just had a great quality feel about it. Limited cooking options (just a microwave and BBQ) but we got by with that.
Was a very short walk to the beach, and the pool/slides/cafe/bar were great.
Also, staff were really friendly - thank you, Colin!
Only thing to note is that although the park is very dog friendy, the beach right out front is not - so if we wanted to take the dog for a run on the beach, we had to drive to Patches Beach which is around 15 minute drive away.

Such a lovely spot, well kept and clean site! No shops closeby so bring enough food and drinks! Will be returning :). Stayed in luxury swag which was wonderful but it does get very hot during the day in summer months even with air con on so be mindful of this. Very comfy beds!

Weekend Trip to Cranky Rock Hunter Valley
Such a beautiful experience! We loved our stay here at Cranky Rock. The cabin is so unique with so many cool details, the more you look the more you find. The property is also incredible! We stayed with our dog who loved the horses and we also spotted multiple deer which I’ve never seen before so was thrilled about that. The hosts Pam and Lindsey were so welcoming and lovely, made us feel so at home. The best part, it’s dog friendly so you can bring your fur babies! We had such a great time here and thank you so much for having us 🩷

Gorgeous part of the world. Well kept camping grounds with hotshowers and toilets near the camp kitchen. Camp kitchen was immaculate with microwave, kettle, washing facilities, cooktop and castiron over the fire, along with a lounge space and plenty of board games for the kids. Small hill from the powered camping which was also a minute stroll down to the creek.

2 nights at Wanderlust Retreat
Beautiful place. We would definitely go back again for some peace and quiet in the wilderness. Distance is not too bad as well given that it’s only 2.5 hours away from Sydney.
Only thing I would want to have differently would be a quick touch up on the trail markers/ropes for the nearby trail. Some of the trees where the markers/ropes are placed have fallen. Nonetheless still an amazing place. 15/10 overall!

A tranquil place with good amenities. The bell tent was perfect for two, and there were plenty of areas to explore around the camp - no need to leave at all. It was the ideal quiet weekend getaway, and the stars at night were absolutely beautiful. Loved the chickens and geese’s roaming ☺️
