The Hilltop sits on 7.5 acres above Stalker Lake in Otter Tail County, offering something genuinely rare: a private hilltop campsite with panoramic lake views and direct access to a lakeside sandy area and dock below. The climb to the site is about 250 feet and steep, but the lake view opens up from the first step and only gets better as you go. There's a bench halfway up for good reason — stop, catch your breath, and take it in. By the time you reach the top, you'll understand why guests keep coming back.
Below the hill, your lakeside area is set up for full days outside. A large, deep-sand terrace sits just above the water with Adirondack chairs, a picnic table, fire ring, and easy stair access down to the lake. The shoreline is riprap, but the lake bottom is firm sand — great for wading, swimming, and getting in and out of the canoe or paddle boards. It's the kind of spot where nobody moves for three hours and nobody apologizes for it. The lakeside area is shared with your hosts when we're around — friendly neighbors, not hoverers. The hilltop and lakeside area are separated by Stalker Lake Road, a low-traffic country road easy to cross on foot.
Two fire rings — one at the hilltop, one at the lakeside area — mean the evening belongs to you wherever you want to spend it. Sunsets here are a nightly event, not just a backdrop. Well-behaved dogs welcome, off-leash.

Green Island is an unexpected pine forest located actually inside a small town in northcentral Minnesota. The camping area is remarkably private and surrounds a small pond. It is primitive with minimal amenities beyond patio furnature and hand pumps for water. By local codes, it can host only truly small adventure camper vehicles that are self-contained. The campground is a large semi-shaded space yet we limit to four vehicles.
We are serious environmentalists and we offer this opportunity for true nature lovers as singles or couples, who totally take care of themselves, leave absolutely no trace, and are solid environmental stewards. In other words, its no place for a party.
Separate from the campground there are: apple orchards, outdoor sculptures, wildlife, a meditation kuti, and perfect spaces for forest therapy. Yet unbelieveably, you can walk to a Pizza Hut or Walmart in 5 minutes.
This is an excellent staging point for outdoors folks on their way to camp or canoe the forests and lakes of northern Minnesota.

David is an extremely welcoming host! The property is very well maintained and clean with lots of extra items (bug spray, fire starting ingredients, camp chairs, balls and other sports items, coffee maker and all of the wonderful stuff in the barn!)

We loved staying at Tumbleweed Base Camp. Dave was friendly and very helpful. The campsites and bathrooms are very clean. I wish we would have had more time to hangout in the barn because there are lots of games and fun activities. We rented the mountain bikes and they worked great. We will definitely be staying here again!

This was the getaway we needed! The countryside feel plus the option to kayak on the lake was perfect!! We stayed their two nights in our RV, opened the windows all night long and loved feeling the breeze and sound of birds. It is near the dirt road but honestly in two days we maybe saw 4 cars! We ordered fresh eggs from the host and they were delicious! There was a fire pit and a charcoal grill for cooking !! The view was unbeatable and my kids would sit on the end of the dock and eat their ice cream. We read under the beautiful trees and napped outside. These were moments I will never forget. We rented a canoe and kayaks and saw an otter! Also loved looking at the lily pads and their flowers. My absolute favorite was seeing the firefly’s at night!! I would for sure go back.

The local of a "site area 51" was perfect close to bathrooms and all of the extra things that were provided like the game room and shop fishing the sport stuff the beach... it was really wonderful... and there was such a vibe the moment u get there.. a family vibe... everyone was so kind... it was so great I reserved a few more days in a month ❤️ I love that there was something for everyone all ages was a wonderful place... a great break from life... it was just what I needed

What a sweet and cool campground this is! Dave is a phenomenal host. You'll be greeted and given a quick tour. He'll cover the amazing game barn with bumper pool and ping pong, the little strawberry patch where you can get a sweet treat when you pass, the horse shoe pit, the very clean porta, firewood and starters, running water, a triple 120v outlet for charging or whatever you need. So super accommodating to help you with whatever he can to help you enjoy your stay. No wonder he receives so many awards and accolades for this very sweet, and very hip camp. 5.5 stars outta 5.

Very private and it was a lovely area. Just to note, it's a 15 minute drive to the Maplewood state park since the road that lets out on the south end is closed. This is totally out of control for the host but just for others planning. Also the grass was super overgrown, almost to my knee in some spots. Everything else was perfect and the host was very quick to respond and helpful.

Super fun, quiet and unique location! I stayed at the site by the cow pasture. The cows were very friendly and the babies were frolicking in the field. Erin was very welcoming and met us as soon as we pulled in the driveway. She gave us some information about the history of the site and showed us where all of the amenities could be found. After dark, you can see the Milky Way since there is no light wash out and enjoy the soundtrack of loons singing in the background.

The views were so beautiful the river or creek was so pretty to look at the house takes you straight to the place it was amazing at the farm there was amazing the deer was like right up next to you it was so cool to see the cabin is so cute and rustic and it was actually really nice the beds were super comfortable and she had everything you needed and the games were really fun to play with as well! 10/10
