David is a Star Host

This old homestead belonged to my belated uncle Steve, and after he passed unexpectedly, I had returned to Minnesota from California and wanted to create a warm, welcoming atmosphere for those interested in sharing a peaceful and modest property. The old barn is a work in progress to eventually become the base to accommodating more travelers and outdoor enthusiasts as finances permit. After working in the service industry bartending for 14 years and hosting 100+ global travelers via CouchSurfing out of San Diego, I am well versed in creating an inviting space, it has been a fulfilling endeavor. We look forward to meeting you and sharing/swapping stories around the campfire! Learn more about this land: Our property and profile are in constant change as we are in a stage of development, but we look to share our land with those seeking to enjoy a warm, welcome environment for those fellow wanderers, outdoor enthusiasts, vagabonds, and globetrotters. I am a well-traveled backpacker myself and share 5 1/2 acres with my father here in a bustling little touristy town. We enjoy the company of those who endorse small footprint, sustainable practices and like to establish meaningful connections.  All we ask is that you respect the property, our neighbors, and make an effort to add one more new friend before you depart.

Two Sisters on a Cross Country Road
Loved our time with Logan and David! The property is beautiful and well maintained. The barn, which they call The Sanctuary, was an amazing spot to hang out, charge our electronics, toast our bagels, and make ice for our cooler. The attention to detail on the property is amazing: motion light at the porta potty, lights inside the porta potty, solar lights throughout the property, beverage holders at the horseshoe pits, etc! Super chill place, 100% recommend!

What a cool barn!!
The highlight of my stay was having access to the barn. It was a perfect reading spot when it was raining and a perk was having use of the fridge/freezer. Logan and David were very friendly and helpful. As far as logistics… the tent camping area is dispersed in the large mowed backyard with lots of room between campers. A wheel barrow can help get gear to and from vehicles, which are parked along the driveway near the house. The two porta-potties were both clean. Overall I’d highly recommend a stay here.

Tumbleweed Base Camp
We had the best time camping here and host was incredibly helpful with unpacking my car and giving us a tour of the property. The barn was so so so cool and we had so much fun playing games in there! We can’t wait to come back!! 10/10 would recommend! :)

Tumbleweed Base Camp
I had a wonderful time. The hosts were both amazing and friendly. I will definitely be back! The campground is close to the road, but has very little traffic and I felt safe the entire time. The barn is amazing and provides a place to lounge or stretch, charge electronics and stay dry when it’s raining.

Had to cancel last minute due to car troubles. They were very gracious and I rescheduled.
