Green Island is an unexpected pine forest located actually inside a small town in northcentral Minnesota. The camping area is remarkably private and surrounds a small pond. It is primitive with minimal amenities beyond patio furnature and hand pumps for water. By local codes, it can host only truly small adventure camper vehicles that are self-contained. The campground is a large semi-shaded space yet we limit to four vehicles. We are serious environmentalists and we offer this opportunity for true nature lovers as singles or couples, who totally take care of themselves, leave absolutely no trace, and are solid environmental stewards. In other words, its no place for a party. Separate from the campground there are: apple orchards, outdoor sculptures, wildlife, a meditation kuti, and perfect spaces for forest therapy. Yet unbelieveably, you can walk to a Pizza Hut or Walmart in 5 minutes. This is an excellent staging point for outdoors folks on their way to camp or canoe the forests and lakes of northern Minnesota.

Here is parking for SMALL Adventure Camper Vehicles at a completely private site around a 1/2 acre wildlife pond surrounded by trees and shrubs. From there, stroll through a young 40-acre pine forest. Watch deer, hand pump water from the natural aquifer, and if you are an experienced meditator you may use the sacred kuti on stilts. In season, there may be surplus berries or apples and medicinal herbs available. All this is actually INSIDE a small city in northern Minnesota. Green Island is the ideal urban/rural interface. There is not total freedom from the sounds of man but they are at least distant from this small, green, sanctuary for nature. Deer, fox, herons, and songbirds frequent the day and owls (plus an occasional bear) roam at night. And, in that night the forest is rimmed by scattered lights from businesses, homes, and restaurants, so the sky glows for a midnight stroll. During day a five-minute walk will actually get you to a Pizza Hut, Subway, Chinese Buffet, health food store, or Walmart. This is a perfect spot for a prep stop on the way deeper into Minnesota's canoe country or the forests of northern Minnesota. We do like a minimum of 48-hours advance notice, but we may be able to respond to last minute... if you can catch us by email or text.
