Overview

About

If you were the kid who liked the tiniest presents at Christmas, because you knew a big box didn鈥檛 necessarily mean a great gift, then you鈥檒l appreciate Birch Lakes State Forest. It鈥檚 not the biggest forest. In fact, it鈥檚 one of Minnesota鈥檚 smallest. But that doesn鈥檛 stop it from being one of the most intriguing places in the state.

Uniquely situated between Minnesota鈥檚 northeast forested region and the prairie region to the southwest, you get a little bit of each landscape here. The waters of Little Birch and Birch Lake are about as clear as a crystal glass, and are waiting for you to dive right in! We bet you鈥檒l want to do just that after working up a healthy sweat on the 7 miles of hiking trails in the area.
