Welcome to The Hippie Hideaway. This is a place to slow down, breathe deep, and reconnect. My hope is that during your stay you feel free, relaxed, and completely re-energized. You’ll have a large, private open space for you and your family to enjoy time together—no crowds, no strangers, just nature and quiet. At night, you can take in the northern lights and enjoy incredible stargazing under wide open skies. The property features about a mile of walking trails that wind through peaceful sloughs and into open prairie, where you’ll see a variety of wildlife, butterflies, and beautiful native plants. Shell Lake and Island Lake are both just a few miles away, and Tamarac National Wildlife Refuge is nearby as well. For adventure lovers, the Smokey Hills and Two Inlets four-wheeling trails are close, and Itasca State Park is about a 45-minute drive. Our land offers several unique landscapes, making it a perfect setting for photos and quiet moments alike. You may also spot wildlife passing through the property, including deer, bear, otters, and raccoons. We’re so happy to share this special place with you—welcome to your hideaway.Pitch your tent or park your camper in our peaceful slice of paradise. The campsite includes a fire pit and a picnic table for your convenience. You’ll be camping in a large, open, cleared area, with the freedom to choose where you’d like to set up within the space. The site may be reserved for your exclusive use or shared with family and friends. It can accommodate up to six campers and multiple tents, making it ideal for group camping trips. Guests have access to over 30+ acres of land featuring scenic walking trails and diverse natural landscapes. Wildlife is frequently seen throughout the property, and the open skies make this location perfect for stargazing. Please note that there are no restroom facilities available on-site; guests must provide their own. When booking for a group, please be sure to adjust the number of campers to ensure accurate pricing.

We spent 3 nights here. It was quite, and very private. This site was perfect for our weekend plans. We traveled to Itasca State Park, and the Detroit Lakes area.

I was so sad I had to cut my trip short for family reasons. I was scheduled to stay six nights. I had the best time. A completely new camping experience for me. One site. Thirty-six acres. All mine. All to yourself. One fire pit. One picnic table. Who does this? Lisa and her husband do. They could fit ten more sites on their property if they wanted, but they know the value of this once in a lifetime. It was quiet. Peaceful. Beautiful. I saw Lisa on the first day. She welcomed me with a smile on a quad. But she was always in touch and she responded quickly to my questions. I liked that her roosters woke me up every morning. I regret not going on the trail. But with so much space I was able to shank a few golf balls into the field with my nine iron. This may be your only chance to get a slight idea of what Henry David Thoreau at Walden felt like. It’s different. WELL worth the fee. And you’ll come away feeling better about pretty much everything.
