Pegasus 2- Hanging Cot Treehouse
Treehouse · Sleeps 5The Santa Fe Treehouse Camp and Wilderness Preserve is a non-smoking facility featuring 156 acres of highland forest. It is at 7,700' above sea level and is located at 46 Treehouse Road, Santa Fe. The land is covered in juniper, piñon, and ponderosa pine, and various cactus plants. Enjoy the peace and quiet and the clear view of the celestial grandeur of the sun’s cycle or the brilliant show of stars in the night sky.
The legacy of Santa Fe Tree House Camp and Wilderness Preserve includes rustic tree house style cabins. The original creators of the camp wanted to make a safe place for children to enjoy the outdoors. Now, these tree houses are available for family and adult reservations to relive the childlike wonder of sleeping amidst the trees.
There are 6 treehouse structures of various distance from the outdoor kitchen and bathhouse.
We provide mattresses with a fitted sheet as a mattress cover, you need to bring your own sheets to put on top (don’t sleep directly on the sheet we provide), blankets, pillows or sleeping bags as well as towels and toiletries, lanterns and flashlights. If you are traveling without these items let us know ahead of time and we may be able to offer these for a fee.
These structures are all raised from the ground (not high up in the top of trees) with openings for windows (no glass), and nestled amid the trunks and branches of ponderosa, piñon, and juniper trees. There are no heaters or air conditioning so please bring warm clothes and bedding for your comfort.
The Pegasus tree houses are closest to the outdoor cooking shelter with community fridges, stove, toaster oven, microwave, propane grill, blender, coffee maker (bring your own ground coffee), plates, bowls, cooking and eating utensils. The area has a communal fire pit and benches. These treehouses would be ideal for families and groups of friends wanting to stay close together and near the bathrooms. There is electricity here.
NOTE: Pegasus # 2 has a double mattress, 2 hanging cots that are appropriate for smaller people who don't move too much in their sleep and two low frame beds beneath the hanging cots. It can sleep 5. Please bring your own towels, bedding, pillows or sleeping bags and toiletries, solar or battery powered lanterns and flashlights.
The camp is located about 20 minutes from Museum Hill, 25 minutes from Meow Wolf, Old Town Santa Fe Plaza and just 15 minutes to delicious food at Harry's Roadhouse or Cafe Fina. Tree House Camp includes 156 acres of land bordering the US Forest Service area. There are beautiful views and the closest access to Shaggy Peak, the southernmost tip of the Rocky Mountains and the Sangre de Cristo Mountain Range. Wander our land to enjoy a 20 minute hike to a creek in the forest or climb up Shaggy Peak (about 2-7 hours round trip hiking, depending on your activity level).
NOTE: We are up a 1.3 mile dirt road with two steep hills and bumps. We are not near public transportation so you will need your own vehicle! Be aware that the roads can be snowy, icy or muddy in early spring, late fall and winter, and rutted due to rains in the summer. At those times of the year we recommend a car with front-wheel, all track or four-wheel drive and good traction tires.
