The camp was founded 40 years ago as a summer camp for kids. We continue to offer camps for children and their parents and grandparents (family camps), as well as welcome adults and other groups to enjoy the vast and wild high desert nature up on this ridge.

Register for our nature education activities and resources lead by The Wilderness Institute (available for all of our guests). These topics include sustainability, recycling, composting, water conservation, wildfire prevention, outdoor safety, and nature awareness along with the use of our hiking trails.

There are beautiful views and access to Shaggy Peak, the southernmost tip of the Rocky Mountains and the Sangre de Cristo Mountain Range. Wander our land to enjoy various level hiking trails including a 20 minute hike to a creek and waterfall in the forest (some steep spots and creek is intermittent) or climb up Shaggy Peak (seasoned hikers only please).
IMPORTANT: We are up 1.3 miles of dirt road (with 5-7+% grade in a few short stretches) and are not near public transportation so you will need your own vehicle! Be aware that the roads can be snowy, icy or muddy and rutted ( 4-wheel or All-trak recommended in certain times of year). We don’t guarantee the road will be plowed.
We generally close for the season due to cold weather around Halloween and reopen just before Memorial Day.

The Indian ruins and artifacts fascinated him then and he is still happy to share this history with whoever shows an interest. You can explore Native American ruins that were inhabited by some 2,000 people between 700-1100 AD. The grounds are wonderful to walk with a little lake which draws elk, deer, hawks, blue herons, etc.
Easy to access just 3 minutes off I-25. We are 5 minutes away from the Pecos Natl Monument and 15 minutes away from the Pecos River with plenty of great fishing spots ;Visit Santa Fe (20-minute drive) or Las Vegas (30-minute drive) with dozens of restaurants, museums, art galleries, etc.

This is a private, Adult-Only (18+) clothing-optional dry tent camping experience designed for those who want to strip away the noise of the world. Because we are a hidden gem and still growing, there is a high chance that you will have the horizon to yourself. Imagine a morning coffee or sunset stroll where the only other living soul you might see are the hawks and the bunnies.
We are a work in progress with a mission: turning one man’s trash into campground treasures. We work to upcycle as many materials as possible, including a former football field turned grassy landing sites for tents and RV’s. Solar showers from recycled pallets. Signage created from old drill pipe and bed boards.
Our 15 acres butts up against some BLM land offering more terrain to explore in the buff. When you’re done exploring, cool off with a skinny dip in our 16’ x 32’ above ground pool. Or just lounge in the sun and work on your tan.

This glamp zone occupies only 1.25 acres. Part of our mission in creating this space is to bring folks together. We encourage campers to mingle. Maybe organize a group float down the Chama. The float from just above Bodes to our very own shore is wonderful. It takes about two hours. There is one challenging spot, but beside that, the float is calm and tranquil.
Please be aware, we have cats, chickens, goats, donkeys, horses and dogs that live on the property. Your pets are welcome only if they are guaranteed to not pester or hurt our posse of pets. Also, we will not tolerate excessive barking or inappropriate running around or bothering ourselves or other guests. You must pick up all your and your pets waste and take it with you when you leave.

We’ve opened the first two of our twelve scrappy, scruffy little campsites sitting on just under four acres, a hair outside Tucumcari city limits. You’ll find star-splashed skies overhead, and the Route 66 glow of Tucumcari is just a hop and a skip down the road. Small-town convenience is literally a stone’s throw away. We’ve even got a fancy grocery store where they sell those little boxes of cheese from the world-famous Tucumcari Mountain Cheese Factory. Isn’t that right, Tex?

You’ll have access to a bathroom and shower and if you ask real nice (and we remembered to pay the gas bill), we even have hot water.
If you’re tired of smelling like bug spray, we’ve got a few rooms in the rock house you can maybe rent (but not right now because we have been too busy and they don't have usable beds in 'em ) assuming some other campers or one of those traveling nurses haven’t already taken them. Isn’t that right, Tex?

We’ve got all the features you’d expect from a primitive campground, plus a few extras like a place to build your fire as long as there’s no burn ban in effect. Please check with us before lighting a fire, ’cause when fires happen and they shouldn’t, they can get scary real fast.
And we will throw you under the bus, not that we’d have to since the firefighters can always tell where it started. The wind pushes the fire away from your campsite, leaving a burn pattern like a big arrow pointing right back at you. If you don’t believe me, just ask Mr. Williams, who had to explain to his wife why he couldn’t come home from his hunting trip just yet.
While I was writin’ this, Tex told me, “Edna, erase all that and just say, ‘Nice campground. Cheap.’”

The VERY QUIET, Secret Shangra-La Valley just over the ridge from Route 66 (and I-40) was the camping place for Billy the Kid and his gang! We were looking for a place to sleep off I-40, Tex's place is just a mile off the highway. Got a hot shower in the main house (they offer their bathroom to share with guests) and slept under the stars!

I love this place! Brad and Ciana have created a wonderful experience here. The location borders Santa Fe National Forest and the road leading up to this semi remote location are well maintained. This is our second visit here and we will definitely be back. Highly recommend.

We loved our 3 night stay at Treehouse Camp. My husband and I and our 5 children tent camped. We chose a campsite closest to the shared pavilion and toilet, but because there were no other campers around, we had the place to ourselves.
The weather was beautiful, my kids loved finding different rocks and making things with all the sticks lying around. The wind in the trees and stars were breathtaking.
We couldn’t have a campfire due to the burn ban, but we used our camp stove. One evening, we utilized the shared outdoor kitchen, which was very nice to keep the kids clean after their showers….in a clean bathroom, I should add.
I really liked that there was an outdoor washing station three minutes from our campsite. We carried dishes back and forth easily, and were able to do a few loads of laundry, too. (Only a washer, no dryer; but that wasn’t an issue because things line dried so quickly.)
A few things would’ve made the experience even better, but I know these things couldn’t be helped. More shade would be nice during the day, and water and electricity at each site would have been helpful. But like I said, I know those things cannot be helped and with all the amenities nearby, it really wasn’t bad at all.
I should also mention that except for a few little gnats and flies, there weren’t any bugs. We left our tent “door” open all day without any problems.
Ciana was very helpful and accommodating too!
We will definitely return if we are ever in the area. Highly recommended!

1 night at Healing on the Rio Grande !
Michaela's place was just as described and what a treat! Yes, the gardens, but also getting chats in the garden with her and over coffee in the morning. My service husky and I took hostel cots in the living room and; super comfy, warm and inviting. Her husband, Ernesto, greeted us and saw us off with a smile. I would definitely stay again, I feel like we have so much more to talk about!

Such a hidden gem! The host and camp staff were incredibly welcoming and kind. The property has great amenities, including an outdoor kitchen and dining area and a shower/bath house, while still feeling peaceful and tucked away. It borders National Forest land, and there’s a wonderful short hike right from the grounds that was perfect for sunset. We really enjoyed our stay and would definitely recommend it!

The shasta is super cute and perfect. The RV was clean and very comfy. There’s a little river/ creek near the shasta and you can enjoy the sound of water nearby. This camp is perfect for first time campers who would want to try being outdoors without worrying about setting up tent. I would totally be back here!

Tex & Edna’s place was a great place to stay a night on my recent travels. Tex welcomed me and walked me to my site- letting me know about the land and the amenities. The sitting area around the chiminea was lovely. I’d definitely stay again if I find myself in the area in the future.

The little cottage is very cozy. It was clean and the bed was comfortable. I enjoyed being able to sleep with the windows open and the views of the garden and mountains. Bring a chair to sit outside. Anastasia communicates well and is accommodating.

A wonderful safe spot to spend the night and have a warm shower! Host was very responsive and the primitive camping spaces are shaded with tables! They also offered free coffee in the morning! Management was wonderful and they even have a little gift shop. Would definitely stay again!

The camp was much better than expected and had a plethora of amenities such as super clean bathrooms (including the cleanest portapotty I’ve ever seen) and showers, plenty of grills, well stocked kitchen, etc. Ciana and Bobcat Brad were very friendly and accommodating. Highly recommend taking an archery lesson. I only wish we were staying in a cooler season as it was pretty brutal in the heat of the day. Gorgeous sunrises and sunsets from our treehouse though.
