"BE A CAMPER CONSERVATIONIST"! Register for our nature education activities and resources lead by The Wilderness Institute (available for all of our guests). These topics include sustainability, recycling, composting, water conservation, wildfire prevention, outdoor safety, and nature awareness along with the use of our hiking trails. You can also join an archery class, tomahawk throwing, climbing on the mobile climbing wall, Yoga, Tai Chi, Climbing Into The Heart of the Mother Tree, Star talks and more! (https://wildernessinstitute.org/outdoor-programs/) There are beautiful views and access to Shaggy Peak, the southernmost tip of the Rocky Mountains and the Sangre de Cristo Mountain Range. Wander our land to enjoy various level hiking trails including a 20 minute hike to a creek and waterfall in the forest (some steep spots and creek is intermittent) or climb up Shaggy Peak (seasoned hikers only please). IMPORTANT: We are up 1.3 miles of dirt road (with 5-7+% grade in a few short stretches) and are not near public transportation so you will need your own vehicle! City of Rocks State Park is your self proclaimed “sponsor of adventure” and we agree! The entire park clocks in at just one square mile, but what’s inside this tiny little park is huge fun. The park is filled with pinnacles, or giant rock formations, that were formed after a volcanic eruption 34.9 million years ago. Today, these rad, red rocks tower over while you hike or bike through the grid like maze at their base. The park also offers a stunning botanical garden, stargazing, and views of the local wildlife. Be sure to stop by the brand new visitors center and get the best tips from the rangers before setting up camp in their comfy campgrounds. Silver City and Deming are close by for access to more fun. A little park that packs a big punch, we’re sure you’ll be mayor of this city in no time!

Welcome to Boom Boom's Campground at Tex & Edna's! We’ve opened the first two of our twelve scrappy, scruffy little campsites sitting on just under four acres, a hair outside Tucumcari city limits. You’ll find star-splashed skies overhead, and the Route 66 glow of Tucumcari is just a hop and a skip down the road. Small-town convenience is literally a stone’s throw away. We’ve even got a fancy grocery store where they sell those little boxes of cheese from the world-famous Tucumcari Mountain Cheese Factory. Isn’t that right, Tex? (That’s right, Edna.) You’ll have access to a bathroom and shower and if you ask real nice (and we remembered to pay the gas bill), we even have hot water. If you’re tired of smelling like bug spray, we’ve got a few rooms in the rock house you can maybe rent (but not right now because we have been too busy and they don't have usable beds in 'em ) assuming some other campers or one of those traveling nurses haven’t already taken them. Isn’t that right, Tex? (That’s right, Edna.) We’ve got all the features you’d expect from a primitive campground, plus a few extras like a place to build your fire as long as there’s no burn ban in effect. Please check with us before lighting a fire, ’cause when fires happen and they shouldn’t, they can get scary real fast. And we will throw you under the bus, not that we’d have to since the firefighters can always tell where it started. The wind pushes the fire away from your campsite, leaving a burn pattern like a big arrow pointing right back at you. If you don’t believe me, just ask Mr. Williams, who had to explain to his wife why he couldn’t come home from his hunting trip just yet. While I was writin’ this, Tex told me, “Edna, erase all that and just say, ‘Nice campground. Cheap.’”

Sunny Mellow Eco Villa is the Romantic Land with a great history. The VERY QUIET, Secret Shangra-La Valley just over the ridge from Route 66 (and I-40) was the camping place for Billy the Kid and his gang! They could quickly saddle up when the posted lookout on the ridge above signaled the passing of The Corrupt Santa Fe Cartel that bid to hold control of business throughout Lincoln County. Even more stunning, it was the Tijeras Indian Pueblo Tribe's place of roaming and rest. The Pueblo is a few hundred yards away over the Tijeras ridge to the West and sports a beautiful Adobe Museum! The Villa land now sports an Organic Vineyard, Orchard and Vegetable Garden that guests may forage from when in bloom. A Large, Clean, Secluded Redwood Yoga Deck, Ping-Pong, Horseshoes, and a Giant Swing Set, along with patios and lounges that are found over the 8 acre land, and all joined by a network of Scenic Pathways and Bridges that connect The Vineyard, The Orchard, The Garden, The Solar Array, The Swing, The Yoga Deck, Ping Pong Terrace, Horse shoe Pit...
