We are excited to share our little A-frame cabin in the woods! The cabin is quite rustic ( and quite cute). Think of it like glamping -- outhouse, wood burning stove, dirt roads, and beautiful trees and mountains included.

This glamp zone occupies only 1.25 acres. Part of our mission in creating this space is to bring folks together. We encourage campers to mingle. Maybe organize a group float down the Chama. The float from just above Bodes to our very own shore is wonderful. It takes about two hours. There is one challenging spot, but beside that, the float is calm and tranquil.
Please be aware, we have cats, chickens, goats, donkeys, horses and dogs that live on the property. Your pets are welcome only if they are guaranteed to not pester or hurt our posse of pets. Also, we will not tolerate excessive barking or inappropriate running around or bothering ourselves or other guests. You must pick up all your and your pets waste and take it with you when you leave.

There are beautiful views and access to Shaggy Peak, the southernmost tip of the Rocky Mountains and the Sangre de Cristo Mountain Range. Wander our land to enjoy various level hiking trails including a 20 minute hike to a creek and waterfall in the forest (some steep spots and creek is intermittent) or climb up Shaggy Peak (seasoned hikers only please).
IMPORTANT: We are up 1.3 miles of dirt road (with 5-7+% grade in a few short stretches) and are not near public transportation so you will need your own vehicle! Be aware that the roads can be snowy, icy or muddy and rutted ( 4-wheel or All-trak recommended in certain times of year). We don’t guarantee the road will be plowed.
We generally close for the season due to cold weather around Halloween and reopen just before Memorial Day.

Set above the historic town of Madrid N.M. is Waldo Mesa, the location of past mining operations and stunning vista's.The campsite is 0.9 miles off highway 14 in the historic town of Madrid and up to the mesa. Site 1 can accommodate RV's and tall setups as well as tents. The hill going to the site is short, approx. 0.2 ml. Its dirt and rock and a little steep but everything from bikes, motorcycles, sedans and buses can easily navigate without bottoming out, just take it slow. It has beautiful mesa views with plenty of privacy and nice outhouse within 50 yards. Madrid and sister village, Cerrillos are loaded with places to explore on foot or by other means. This site requires a hike. No vehicles are permitted beyond the cattle gate.
Potable water is available upon request, but we prefer that you BYO. Since I have to hike it out there, you must let me know what you need at the time of your booking.
This is a primitive shelter. There is no running water nor electricity (aside from a solar light). The solar will charge your phone, so bring your cord!
It's just like camping but with walls and a roof over your head - and the benefit of having no other campers around. You might see an occasional hiker with their dog. If you have a dog, take note. This site is completely fenced in so that your fur baby can safely roam.
There is no heating or cooling. The desert can get cold at night. With enough notice, a portable propane heater can be provided for an additional charge.
Hipcampers are kindly asked to park just outside our gate and embark on a picturesque 3/4 mile hike back to the shelter. The flat hike offers scenic views and adds to the adventure of your stay. PLEASE clean up after your pup.

Our stars shine brighter than most, and coyote songs will remind you that you're dwelling amongst the high desert wildlife.The 1 3/4 mile road to Little Dancing Horse Ranch is not for everyone. I will reiterate this a couple times in this listing to make sure people understand that we live on a rocky, dirt road. Some folks find it not to be a big deal while others do. The land is beautifully wild with lots of animal life. The dirt rd down to the property is best suited for higher clearance vehicles, but is manageable for city cars. If you're pulling your trailer/camper you'll need 4W.
With land by the river comes the mosquitos- June to August. They are predominantly active during sunrise and sunset; long loose fitting clothes and/or a repellent work great.
Waterhole, Waterfall and climbing sites near by, as well as Plaza Blanca, Abiquiu, Ghost Ranch and the Taos Gorge are 30 mins drive away.

Two Hawk Ranch is comprised of 12 acres of high mountain valley meadows, hay fields, Acequias, trees and the Rio Chiquito. Yes, we are located at approximately 7,800ft elevation. My husband and I stumbled across this beautiful and serene property by accident in 2020 just as Covid hit. We feel blessed to be here and feel the need to share it’s calming, restful qualities. We have three adult children and have three grandchildren. We also have eight international children as we hosted international students for four years. You are welcome to come sit by the fire and be social or just do your own thing.

Sites located across the property for up to 8 groups. The RV camping is located near one of our horse corrals and above our irrigation Acequia, above or next to the house, or in the field down by the arena after haying is complete (usually after the first week of July as long as the rain cooperates). Can back in or pull through and has 110v power nearby. No water to hook up to, but we can fill your tanks via hose by the house or arena. Other sites available if you don’t need power, or have a generator.
Property is within a 100yds of national forest service that gives access to off-roading, hiking, biking, horse riding, fishing, and winter snowshoeing, cross country skiing, etc. We are located just off the High Road to Taos in Llano, 29 miles south of Taos and 55 miles north of Santa Fe. We are eight miles from Ski Sipapu and eight miles from Rio Santa Barbara Canyon.
Your well-behaved pets are welcome. We also have one great dane (Raggy), a great dane mix (The Morrigan), one ranch cat (Sasha) and four horses (Gentry, Shadow, Mattie & Jr G). The dogs are a rescue of some kind. The Morrigan is black, 3.5 yrs old and comes out of a rescue in AZ. She went in with her litter as a 5 month old puppy, and she came here about a year later. She is reticent and suspicious, so ignore her and she will come up to you on her own; continue to ignore her. Ragnar (Raggy) is our most recent rescue and is from Las Cruces. He's 3 yrs old and a merle. He suffers from anxiety and fears children. We are working him through his fears, and he is doing really well.
The weather here tends to run cooler, as we are located in the mountains in a small valley at approximately 7,800 ft above sea level. In the spring through fall, temps will average from mid 40°F up to mid 60°F at night and mid 60°F up to mid 90°F during the day. Temps can get into the 100°F's in the summer, but that is rare. Generally if the sun is out, it is warm or hot even tho the actual temps are not. It's a high-altitude affect. The opposite is true as well. Cloud cover will feel cooler. We also experience monsoon style rains that occur in the afternoon generally starting in July and running into August or later.
In the late fall through early spring during winter, the average temps usually run from 0°F up to mid 20°F at night with occasional dips into negative temps and in the day generally run from mid 20°F up to the mid 40°F range. Same as above - if the sun is out, it will feel warmer, etc.
We do hay the fields, so we may have tractor activity going on in the late spring and early summer. In the winter we will be clearing snow from the roads and feeding hay.

Ultimate peace and privacy. Nestled in juniper-wooded hills with sweeping views. Close to Albuquerque (20 minutes) and Santa Fe (40 minutes) but feels like a secluded retreat.
Most people have no problem finding my place by entering my address in their GPS. However, I have had 2 HipCampers report their GPS directed them to a road called Camino de las Brisas or Las Brisas Loop.
Turning here will lead you to a steep, dangerous road where it will be very difficult to turn around if you're in an RV and impossible with a trailer. Continue on Camino de Las Huertas to Senda Osa Vieja. It's marked with a street sign, a stone monument with brass plate. There's also a blue "private road" sign with a dragon.
This land was purchased in 1956 by my archeologist parents because of the ancient pueblo site (dating from 1000 A.D.) and pit house sites (dating from 800 A.D.) Until the mega drought seriously impacted the land, a stream ran through it year round. Now it is only intermittent. Across the valley from this property, and within view of the campsite, is the site of a Spanish Colonial village, San Jose de las Huertas. It dates from the 1700s and is now owned by the Archeological Conservancy. This area is rich in history both Native American and Spanish.

Within a 10 minute drive are popular mountain biking trails. Petroglyphs are a 20 minute, moderately strenuous hike from property. Very peaceful, quiet and safe.

We had an incredible time at Ciana and Brad's. They are lovely people with a great mission. We booked the tree climb with Brad for our daughter and her friend and he was so great with them! Keeping them safe while encouraging them to figure out their own paths through the branches and making us all laugh the whole time. Not to be missed. Also with the burn ban in New Mexico I wasn't feeling the campground cooking we would need to set up at the state park I orginally booked, the communal kitchen was an awesome asset as a place to make most of our meals and to hang out in the rain. We will be back!

The yurt was comfortable and clean. The views from the top of the mountain were amazing! We saw hawks and hummingbirds. Kate, the host, is fantastic! So welcoming and friendly. We can’t wait to visit again!!

This place is awesome! Very nice and clean facilities along with friendly and knowledgeable staff. The weekend activities were also a cool addition I was not expecting. It's just a short drive (25 min) from historic downtown Santa Fe and has some awesome views of the surrounding landscape.

Loved Jen’s cute cabin! We had a wonderful time, enjoyed the deck - pitched a tent there and slept well. Well stocked with kitchenware for cooking and dining. Appreciated the dog bed, our dog loved it. The outdoor picnic table was not sturdy enough to use - next time we come we hope to bring one :)

Camping on a sweet property by peaceful running water isn’t easy to find in NM. I thoroughly enjoyed my cool, shady, and quiet time here. Fun to watch the moon rise from the gazebo. It was a comfortable and welcoming shared space, and everyone was friendly, including the cute doggies!

The road is rough so be prepared for that but it is very easy to get to and once you’re there the views are more than worth it. Sunset and sunrise are just spectacular. The host is a wonderful person and gave our pups lots of love.

Weekend Trip to Camp Chima
This was a wonderfully secluded, lush site. It was dreamy spending the evening next to our fire and the retiring to the sound of running water, exceed by the sunrise we woke up to! The host was so kind and made sure our spot was immaculate. We will be back and highly recommend the quiet spot to anyone traveling with pets or simply a romantic getaway.

The gazebo spot was lovely — quiet, soft and grassy. I slept in the gazebo in my sleeping bag and got up a few times to enjoy the stars. The little river was charming, with hammocks and chairs in a clearing. As an added bonus their metal fire pit was a decent size and worked great (I might get one for myself)

See where America's brightest scientific minds devised a way to end World War II in Japan. Three top-secret sites developed the atomic bomb. Known as the Manhattan Project, these experiments changed the world forever.
Oak Ridge, Tennessee, was an industrial site in the mountains. This area provided reactors for producing enriched uranium and plutonium. Preserved buildings showcase how workers went about producing small amounts of these metals in a graphite reactor. More than 75,000 workers lived here.
Hanford, Washington, was a massive industrial complex its own right. It employed about 51,000 workers. The government quickly condemned buildings and evicted residents of the area to construct the facilities.
Los Alamos, New Mexico, was the desert site that completed the project. Engineers and scientists put the bomb together at Los Alamos. The actual device was shipped 230 miles south where it was detonated. Three years of work and millions of man-hours made the Manhattan Project a success. Exhibits here show the massive responsibility the U.S. military bore for unleashing this horrible weapon on the world.
Most of the people working on the Manhattan Project never knew its ultimate goal. They found out later when the government declassified this secret experiment.
