We are excited to share our little A-frame cabin in the woods! The cabin is quite rustic ( and quite cute). Think of it like glamping -- outhouse, wood burning stove, dirt roads, and beautiful trees and mountains included. ** To keep the cabin affordable, all guests are responsible for cleaning up the cabin at the end of the stay and making it ready for the next guest. There are no cleaners coming in after you. ** The cabin is a 432 square foot A-frame in a small mountain community, which is surrounded by the Jemez National Forest. There are a few places to hike right from the front door, and many, many trailheads within a 20 minute drive. Fenton Lake is a short drive away, and the San Antonio Hot Springs is a 2.5 mile hike, bike, or ski away right out the front door for the confident adventurer. Located 1.5 hours from Albuquerque and Santa Fe, a few miles off of NM-4 between the town of Jemez Springs and the Valles Caldera National Preserve. No outdoor fires in the fire pit are permitted at this time. The cabin is totally yours! It's a rustic A-frame cabin, the primary heating is a wood burning stove (wood is provided for you). Amenities include a memory foam queen bed in the loft, accessed by relatively steep ladder stairs, and a pull out queen sofa bed in the first level. There is electricity here, and the bathroom is an outhouse. ** You are responsible for cleaning up after yourself and for making the space ready for the next guest. This keeps the space affordable for many, and keeps check in and check out times reasonable. Please be prepared to make and strip beds, sweep floors, wipe counters, wash all kitchen items, and restock firewood. All trash MUST be taken with you and disposed of, there are no trash services. ** There is bed space for 4 (queen bed in loft + queen pull out sofa downstairs). Max capacity is 6, so if you're cramming 'em in, bring sleeping pads and sleeping bags to camp out on the floor or the deck! There's a big deck to enjoy the trees and stars, and a picnic table. No outdoor fires are permitted at this time. There is running water usually from May-October. In the winter, you must haul in your own water. Running water is only turned on when the nighttime temps don't dip below freezing, so dates may vary from year to year. There is an outhouse. No indoor bathroom, and no shower. The kitchen has an electric stove and oven, and a mini fridge. Various pots and pans, utensils, cups, and plates are all here for you to use. About the area: The cabin is located in the Thompson Ridge neighborhood, a small subdivision surrounded by hundreds of acres of national forest. There are neighbors within eyesight, many are seasonal and it's generally quite quiet. The road to access the cabin is about 2.5 miles, in the summer months most any car will do except for very low clearance vehicles if you are comfortable driving on dirt. You can hike/bike/ski to the San Antonio Hot Springs from here if you are a confident navigator! I can provide basic directions, but the trail is unmarked and GPS is necessary. There is very limited cell service for all carriers, and no internet :) Download maps before you arrive!
