The camp was founded 40 years ago as a summer camp for kids. We continue to offer camps for children and their parents and grandparents (family camps), as well as welcome adults and other groups to enjoy the vast and wild high desert nature up on this ridge.

Register for our nature education activities and resources lead by The Wilderness Institute (available for all of our guests). These topics include sustainability, recycling, composting, water conservation, wildfire prevention, outdoor safety, and nature awareness along with the use of our hiking trails.

There are beautiful views and access to Shaggy Peak, the southernmost tip of the Rocky Mountains and the Sangre de Cristo Mountain Range. Wander our land to enjoy various level hiking trails including a 20 minute hike to a creek and waterfall in the forest (some steep spots and creek is intermittent) or climb up Shaggy Peak (seasoned hikers only please).
IMPORTANT: We are up 1.3 miles of dirt road (with 5-7+% grade in a few short stretches) and are not near public transportation so you will need your own vehicle! Be aware that the roads can be snowy, icy or muddy and rutted ( 4-wheel or All-trak recommended in certain times of year). We don’t guarantee the road will be plowed.
We generally close for the season due to cold weather around Halloween and reopen just before Memorial Day.

The Enchanted Circle Campground sits on the Avalon Ranch. It is 161 owned acres surrounded by a state trust lease. We are very proud to have been voted #1 Campground in NM 4 years in a row and ranked Top 5 by Forbes in the country.
We have 8 Sites to choose from. (No large RVs at 4, 7 or 8) Campfires are permitted, and pets are welcome. Free potable water is available as well as a portable toilet.
For cooking, you will have a fire pit, with a cast iron grill. Every site has a standing charcoal grill, with tongs, a spatula and a grill brush. A fire extinguisher and a shovel. We hang a hand washing jug at every site for your convenience, with potable water, but do not suggest this for drinking water source.
The property was originally homesteaded in 1893. It was also the first potato farm in NM. It has seven ground-fed springs that run year-round and is officially the Coyote Creeks Headwaters. The springs converge after filling 4 of our ponds in the marshland where the potatoes were grown. A family of 4 lived in the first dwelling built here, not much larger than a shed. Since that time, 2 homes, 1 of which still stands, a barn, a smokehouse, and 4 other outbuildings were constructed. There are old wagons and farm equipment from the late 1800s and early 1900's still strewn about the ranch.
We are home to Huge herds of Elk, mule deer, turkeys, prairie dogs, eagles, black bears, 9 horses, chickens, pigs, goats, our 2 dogs and 4 cats, and the occasional Mountain Lion.
We live here year-round. We love our land and want to share it with others.
I am a Veteran and our intent is to eventually have a Veterans Retreat facility here. Not a retreat itself, but rather a location for all of the retreats, nationwide, to be able to utilize, so they can use the funds they have to do what they do best. You are helping to make that possible.
We do pride ourselves on minimally impacting our land. We strive to keep it clean and as close to nature as we can.
And as always, Veterans, LEOs, and Fire Fighters are always free for one night up to 4 guests. Just book your reservation, and show us your ID during your stay, and we will reimburse you for your last night with us.

You can go on a panoramic ridge hike right off the property, or just relax by the flowing creek, or listen to the bird symphonies. Some campsites have access to a guest bathroom inside the main house, others have private outhouses.

The land is beautifully wild with lots of animal life. The dirt rd down to the property is best suited for higher clearance vehicles, but is manageable for city cars. If you're pulling your trailer/camper you'll need 4W.
With land by the river comes the mosquitos- June to August. They are predominantly active during sunrise and sunset; long loose fitting clothes and/or a repellent work great.
Waterhole, Waterfall and climbing sites near by, as well as Plaza Blanca, Abiquiu, Ghost Ranch and the Taos Gorge are 30 mins drive away.

Despite accessibility to endless activities just minutes away there remains a sense of solitude, space and privacy that one would be hard pressed to find elsewhere.

Set above the historic town of Madrid N.M. is Waldo Mesa, the location of past mining operations and stunning vista's.The campsite is 0.9 miles off highway 14 in the historic town of Madrid and up to the mesa. Site 1 can accommodate RV's and tall setups as well as tents. The hill going to the site is short, approx. 0.2 ml. Its dirt and rock and a little steep but everything from bikes, motorcycles, sedans and buses can easily navigate without bottoming out, just take it slow. It has beautiful mesa views with plenty of privacy and nice outhouse within 50 yards. Madrid and sister village, Cerrillos are loaded with places to explore on foot or by other means. Both towns are very rich in history, from past ocean existence to Native American civilizations, silver and gold mining to booming wartime coal mining industries, to ghost towns.

We are excited to share our little A-frame cabin in the woods! The cabin is quite rustic ( and quite cute). Think of it like glamping -- outhouse, wood burning stove, dirt roads, and beautiful trees and mountains included.
** To keep the cabin affordable, all guests are responsible for cleaning up the cabin at the end of the stay and making it ready for the next guest. There are no cleaners coming in after you. **
The cabin is a 432 square foot A-frame in a small mountain community, which is surrounded by the Jemez National Forest. There are a few places to hike right from the front door, and many, many trailheads within a 20 minute drive.
Fenton Lake is a short drive away, and the San Antonio Hot Springs is a 2.5 mile hike, bike, or ski away right out the front door for the confident adventurer.
Located 1.5 hours from Albuquerque and Santa Fe, a few miles off of NM-4 between the town of Jemez Springs and the Valles Caldera National Preserve.
No outdoor fires in the fire pit are permitted at this time. As of April 10th, 2026 water is on and running, potable water is available.

Welcome to our 30 acre Ranch where we train horses including wild mustangs. You can schedule a visit with the horses as well as our resident goats and pot belly pig. One of our unique features is that you can bring your horse and keep in our barn while you camp at our campsite in the wilderness. There is a hiking and riding trail. The camp site has cushy chairs, a fire, propane grill, outdoor shower and bathroom amenities.

We loved our 3 night stay at Treehouse Camp. My husband and I and our 5 children tent camped. We chose a campsite closest to the shared pavilion and toilet, but because there were no other campers around, we had the place to ourselves.
The weather was beautiful, my kids loved finding different rocks and making things with all the sticks lying around. The wind in the trees and stars were breathtaking.
We couldn’t have a campfire due to the burn ban, but we used our camp stove. One evening, we utilized the shared outdoor kitchen, which was very nice to keep the kids clean after their showers….in a clean bathroom, I should add.
I really liked that there was an outdoor washing station three minutes from our campsite. We carried dishes back and forth easily, and were able to do a few loads of laundry, too. (Only a washer, no dryer; but that wasn’t an issue because things line dried so quickly.)
A few things would’ve made the experience even better, but I know these things couldn’t be helped. More shade would be nice during the day, and water and electricity at each site would have been helpful. But like I said, I know those things cannot be helped and with all the amenities nearby, it really wasn’t bad at all.
I should also mention that except for a few little gnats and flies, there weren’t any bugs. We left our tent “door” open all day without any problems.
Ciana was very helpful and accommodating too!
We will definitely return if we are ever in the area. Highly recommended!

1 night at Healing on the Rio Grande !
Michaela's place was just as described and what a treat! Yes, the gardens, but also getting chats in the garden with her and over coffee in the morning. My service husky and I took hostel cots in the living room and; super comfy, warm and inviting. Her husband, Ernesto, greeted us and saw us off with a smile. I would definitely stay again, I feel like we have so much more to talk about!

Such a hidden gem! The host and camp staff were incredibly welcoming and kind. The property has great amenities, including an outdoor kitchen and dining area and a shower/bath house, while still feeling peaceful and tucked away. It borders National Forest land, and there’s a wonderful short hike right from the grounds that was perfect for sunset. We really enjoyed our stay and would definitely recommend it!

The shasta is super cute and perfect. The RV was clean and very comfy. There’s a little river/ creek near the shasta and you can enjoy the sound of water nearby. This camp is perfect for first time campers who would want to try being outdoors without worrying about setting up tent. I would totally be back here!

My wife and I enjoyed camping on this beautiful ranch. We were next to another site which was not bad because sites are very large and spacious. We could not see the other campsites so it was still very private. The views were wonderful and night skies were incredible. We would stay there again.

My husband and I unplugged and relaxed at Santa Fe Treehouse Camp for two nights. We experienced star gazing, hiking, and archery. The camp was clean and comfortable for our quick staycation. We will be back!

The cabin was amazing and it had everything we needed to be comfortable. The area was beautiful and very peaceful. The handbook had all the information we needed for our stay and communication with Jen was superb. I would highly recommend this location to anyone and look forward to.coming back.

We stayed in #7 The Pines. It was so relaxing having a spread of land for your own spot and not side by side with others. They also were so thoughtful to leave the bag of extra items that may and often do come in handy at camp along with the grill utensils. The best addition, besides the bird feeders, was their jug of water hung on the tree for handwashing. We also loved their well water. If we come back to this area we definitely will have the E<< on our list. Only drawback if staying more than a few nights is showers, but we didn’t need full showers this trip. Their property was awesome and it looks like they are in the works for new projects.

The location was very convenient as we were mountain biking close by. Plenty of space, the hosts were responsive and helpful. The road in is rough but was completely fine in our Ram Promaster van. Just drive a little slower. I would definitely stay here again.

We stayed at site 5 on 8/13-15. Landon and Kendra's property was amazing. The campsites are well spaced and very spacious. We camped in a tent and had several flat areas to choose from. A campfire ban was in effect but we were able to use the new custom made charcoal grill. The grill is awesome and has a place to make grilled cheese sandwiches. We fished in the ponds one evening ( no luck) but got to watch the horses come down for their evening watering. We saw a lot of prairie dogs and the bird feeders around camp were always busy with hungry birds )lots of humming birds) and chipmunks. The port a potty was super clean. Really close to town for an easy breakfast or lunch. I highly recommend The Bakery, great food and quick service. There will soon be a bathhouse and general store open and progress looks to be coming along nicely. We were able to purchase some sausage and it was great. I would highly recommend a stay at ECC. and we look forward to coming back. Thank you Landon and Kendra for a peaceful stay. 👍👍
