Excellent campsite to give you a wonderfully rural retreat in the hills, with fast and easy access to Albuquerque and all it offers.
Excellent full hook up facilities, flat gravel pad, looks towards the hosts home but far enough away for privacy. And the hosts were super nice and welcoming.
Huge pool / artificial lake you can swim in and beautiful Elks to wonder at. And you can purchase fresh meat from the very ranch on which they were reared.
This is what “Hipcamping” is all about and we would return again, and again, and it will be our go to place if and when we are back in the area.

We loved every minute of our experience there! From the time we arrived until the time we left we felt welcomed, relaxed and comfortable! When asking my kids what their favorite thing was they said “All of It” and for young kids that says a lot! We will be back!

Susan was very responsive and gave great directions for getting there and setting up. We were greeted by 2 friendly Giant Schnauzers and then Dale came out and helped us park at the perfect angle and walk us through the hook ups. We read the reviews and were hoping Dale and Susan had elk meat they were willing to part with, and to our luck, they hadn't run out yet. Dale gave it to us for free. Just kidding. (I told Dale I was gonna say that in my review so I hope he laughs when he reads this... whatever the price I wont say, but I swear its the best meat I ever had IN MY LIFE. IF you are lucky enough to get there when they have some... buy as much as you can!!! WORTH IT!). My children were enamored by their self built pool and all the strategically placed giant rocks. The loved how each rock is numbered so they will know right where it came from if someone moves it. (Kidding again... or am I?) Dale and Susan played along with us to help our kids be mindful and respectful of their beautiful property. Including our little story to help them not get the urge to tamper with rocks and equipment and pets. I love how loving and caring they are with their Elk. I love that they all have names and each one has a personality. Susan and Dale are so personable and friendly that we want to stay friends forever. Haha. They have great stories and wonderful ideas. The water pressure drops a bit about 12am/1am. Make sure you are showered and shaved before that window.

Susan and Dale are exceptional hosts. We had a blast at their camp spot. The kids loved feeding the elk, hanging out with the dogs and riding on the tractor. The view is beautiful and there’s an amazing diving platform. Thanks for making us so welcome and showing us around!

We enjoyed every bit of our short stay at the ranch! Our hosts were so welcoming and the animals on property were a highlight for our son.

We were on our way home from the Grand Canyon and needed a place to take a day to rest before making the long drive to Houston. Dale and Susan were an absolute delight and wonderful hosts for our family of five. Our kids loved feeding the elk, playing with the dogs, and swimming in the pond. The area nearby is beautiful and we left feeling refreshed and ready to head home.

We spent several nights at the Elk Ranch using it as a base camp of sorts while we spent time visiting family and exploring the Albuquerque and Santa Fe areas. The site was easy to find, convenient, and offers a perfectly peaceful and beautiful view. Communications with Susan prior to our arrival were appreciated and helpful. Once there, Dale and Susan were fantastic hosts - we very much enjoyed and welcomed talking with them - it was as though we knew them forever. Their dogs are the sweetest, too with each stopping by from time to time for some attention.
The Elk were a bonus for us. We learned a lot and were able to take home some meat and jerky. Getting to experience the elk up close was super cool since you don’t often find them roaming our home state.
We would go back again and again as the hospitality won us over. Definitely a 10/10.

We had a wonderful time at Elk Ridge Ranch! The peaceful atmosphere was one of the highlights of our stay, the only noise was only a tiny bit of road noise from time to time. The abundance of birds added to the serenity, and feeding the elk and bison was an unforgettable experience (they love marshmallows)—hearing the elk bugle was a real treat.
The hosts, Dale and Susan, were incredibly nice and welcoming, as were their dogs. The ranch's pond is gorgeous and seems like it would be amazing in the summer, and the location is perfect for exploring the surrounding area.
Being on the ridge can be a little windy, but it adds to the charm of the landscape. The fact that it's a working ranch, without animal processing on site, made it feel authentic without being overwhelming. The do sell meats and jerky if you are interested. Again, that does not happen on site. There’s also some really cool equipment for kids (of any age lol) who are into that kind of thing.
Overall, Elk Ridge Ranch is a peaceful and unique spot that offers a great experience for nature lovers, families, and anyone looking to enjoy the area. Highly recommended!

Had a lovely stay at Sue and Dale's place. Coming up the drive and seeing a giant bull elk first thing is quite the sight! We got to feed the bison apples, marshmellows to the elk, pet the cats, hang with the dogs, and enjoyed hanging out at the pond chatting under the stars. If you are looking for a unique camping experience or have always wanted to boop a bison nose, this is definitely worth checking out.

I cannot say enough good things about the stay, the experience and the host. We have 3 children ages 17, 10 and 4 and there are few things we do where all kids are excited and happy, and this was one of those things. Upon arrival we were greeted like family and made to immediately feel at home by Sue and Dale. Truly couldn’t have asked for two nicer people to spend time with. Then Kati and Sami (the two dogs) followed with a welcome and loving greeting next. We got to be as intimately involved in the feedings and caring of the Elk and Bison as long as we were comfortable and we could safely do so. And the swimming hole/pond/pool was beautiful , refreshing and so much fun. Each of our children said they didn’t want to leave (after a 2 day stay) and have all asked when we can go back. Also another positive to our endless list is that Dale and Sue allowed our dogs to come in and go swimming with us. Our big dog LOVES the water and we were blown away and so grateful that they allowed us that additional experience. Truly an experience of a lifetime with wonderful people, you’ll regret not putting this on your list of must do’s.

We were only here for one night, but it was a very special one! Hosts are so kind and made sure we had a chance to feed the elk. My husband is a talker and we had a great time swapping stories about life and what it’s like to live in this area of NM. We bought some meat too that we are excited to try! The site was level and hooking up was easy. They have a few dogs that were super sweet. Wonderful visit overall, thank you so much for sharing your beautiful spot with us!

Susan and Dale were wonderful hosts, very warm and helpful. They had full hookups for the RV and a shady, nice spot to relax. The kids and our dog loved being able to stay and swim. Seeing the elk and bison up close was a unique experience. We highly recommend the Elk Ridge Ranch.

What can I say about this beautiful property? Not enough!! I can literally say I can’t say enough!! The property is beautiful, peaceful and we already miss it. Dale and Susan are the best hosts. They welcome you when arrive and are there if you need them. The water hole is amazing and feels so good after a hot desert day. Don’t forget to take a visit to the animals they have. The elk and bison are even more beautiful up close and you can hand feed. We will absolutely go back repeatedly when in the area. Don’t miss this opportunity to an unforgettable experience.

Sue and Dale could not have been more friendly and helpful. Our two Little’s fed the Bison and Elk and even got to pet them! We loved the location of the ranch as the drive was beautiful and the sky was amazing at night but we were only 20 minutes away from ABQ. We will definitely be coming back when visiting our family.

What an incredible stay/experience! We will never forget feeding the animals, swimming in the gorgeous pond (that these awesome hard working hosts BUILT THEMSELVES!!!) and the awesome views!
The campsite was perfect for our camper. Dale helped us back it in, no trouble at all:) and get hooked up to the electric and fill our water tank. We then swam in the awesome pond with amazing views and fruit trees all around! After dinner we fed the Elk and Buffalo and learned so much about them! Susan and Dale truly love hosting people and they are amazing farmers. 100% recommend!!!! Would absolutely stay again!

Our family took an epic 2.5 week journey from MN through the southwest. We stayed at various HipCamp and NPS sites. Elk Ranch stands out as one of the top stays simply because the stay was an experience in itself. The hosts were jovial and engaging. We were given a fun hands on tour of the bison and elk ranch and even got to meet a baby elk that was just days old. We also took advantage of the beautiful and clean mountain -top swimming pond. We did purchase some elk meat for the road as we like to support good eats and small business efforts.

We are on a cross country trip for a work move and this place is amazing! Dale and Susan were two of the most kind and gracious hosts we have met. While having only used Hipcamp several other times our visit exceeded any and all expectations. We arrived later than expected but they were waiting for us to help set up and settle in for the night. We have two daughters who love the outdoors and animals, they both jumped straight out of the car and were helping feed the elk and ride the tractors before I could even set up. Staying Elk Ridge is like having an entire campground to yourself with a lake/pond that is swimmable with a diving board, life vests and pool toys for eveyone. Additionally, and not expected they provided us a close up encounter with the Bison and Elk allowing my children to learn about the animals and to get up close and personal.
Dale and Susan were amazing hosts that provide that personal level of hospitality that is unmatched in our hip camp experiences thus far.

What a fabulous stay! Dale and Sue went above and beyond to ensure our stay was top notch! The private swimming hole was beautiful and perfectly refreshing. Meeting and feeding the animals was an awesome experience, especially the white buffalo, Casper and the huge bull elk!

This is more than a place to park; we had an incredibly amazing experience! Dale and Susan went above and beyond as hosts, making us feel more like family than weekend guests. This is one of those unique experiences that makes Hipcamp so much fun to be part of. This was a fantastic spot to stay! You get a very nice full hookup right next to a pristine view of the Sandia mountains, next to a really cool water feature/pond. Plenty of room to walk around and private. The hosts have elk and buffalo on site that they will show you, and really just a phenomenal place to visit!

We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at Elk Ridge Ranch. Dale and Susan are so friendly and welcoming. It was a blast to feed the elk and watch the buffalo. When we arrived, a baby buffalo had been born just 2 hours earlier! So sweet to watch Momma and baby bond. The mountain scenery was fantastic! Lots to explore and do in the area. Albuquerque and the Jemez mountains are close by with plenty to do. Would stay here again in a heartbeat! ❤️❤️

Come to this spot! Everything about it is beautiful… The views, the host, the elk, the swimming hole, the bison… Bring some marshmallows and apples to feed the sweet elk and then take a day trip to Santa Fe, which is about 45 minutes away.

We booked last minute due to a change in our travel plans and we are so glad we did! Dale and Sue were great hosts, so friendly and welcoming but not at all intrusive. Communication was great. The site was level and hook ups just right. We really enjoyed our three relaxing nights at Elk Ridge and my two boys loved the chance to feed the elk and the bison. There are trails close by and we enjoyed a view of the solar eclipse at the pool edge on the last day. We wouldn’t hesitate to book again. Thanks Dale and Sue!
