Camping at the Howling Woods was great. The tent area was flat and wood chipped, which made for a nice sleeping surface. Picnic table and benches were nice and sturdy. The water from the well was clean and refreshing.

Had an excellent time camping here for 3 nights. We loved the added benefits that comes along with the site. We would recommend it to anyone looking to camp near Acadia, having the feeling of being in the woods- while still being able to pack out as soon as desired.

Stayed 1 night in pop up rooftop tent. Convenient. Quiet. Got a little confused because looked a little different than pics because of recent modifications. Glad i arrived in daylight for that reason.

This was a beautiful private spot in the dense woods of Maine. We stayed at the further site back in the woods and had plenty of privacy. It was my wife’s first time camping and this place left a great impression on her.

Awesome little area off the beaten path. We went in the offseason (early November) so everything was covered in wet leaves and smelled a little funky, but it would be so cool when everything is green and in its prime. The surrounding area is all fallen trees covered in moss and really makes the site feel remote. Being able to use the fallen timber for firewood is a plus! When walking to the site, watch out on the footbridge as it can be slippery when wet, and has a slight wobble. Hope to be back next year!

Perfect private campsite close to Acadia. We camped at Blackwoods the night before and we enjoyed this site much more. We loved the seclusion and well kept site

Unfortunately we were unable to use the site since I neglected to see it was tent only. Had we had a ground tent we would have loved to stay there.

Very nicely cared for campsite that is pleasantly remote, on the side of the island that is less overrun by tourists. I would do this again. Two tips would be 1.) if you go to Bar Harbor, look at the free shuttle schedule and try to take it instead of a car. Too much traffic and no parking! Note that it doesn't run so often on the west side of the island. 2.) if arriving late, get food and water provisions on the way. It's quite a drive to find something useful that's still open.

Awesome spot on MDI if you’re traveling around Acadia! We stayed at the site named Howling Woods which was close to the parking area. There are other rentals and camp sites at this location so be mindful of that if you’re looking for an entirely private site. Our site was a short walk from the parking area yet close enough to hear the cars and people most of our stay. There is a garbage area as well that we had to walk past multiple times to set up camp that was honestly overflowing. Aside from that it’s a really cool camp site and we enjoyed our night there. Lots of space for a large tent, a fire pit (wood can be purchased and picked up right at the parking area), and the outhouse was about a 30 yard walk away and really convenient. With so much to do and see on MDI this site is a great spot to set up base camp for a few days!

The spot itself is quite nice, however the owner was unresponsive and we had to walk through another site in order to get to ours. We were planning on using the solar shower, and since he never replied we were unable to so just keep that in mind

This campsite was absolutely lovely. Beautiful scenery and a great location for a very affordable price, so that anyone can enjoy the greater Acadia/bar harbor area. It really felt like stepping into another person’s imagination, as Brendan seems to have taken a lot of time and love to craft an area that feels mythical and fantastical. We (2 people) got the firewood bundle and a solar shower for one night of stay and we had extra of each leftover. I would absolutely come back to this location again if I wanted to explore more of Acadia in the future, and I would love to experience the other camping locations that are offered with a larger group!
