Stuart Little’s dream house is an off-grid cabin on the edge of the woods, in the backyard of our home. The cabin is perfect for people who are camping, but want a little more accommodation. It has two futons that can turn into double beds, table and chairs, small porch, outhouse, and a picnic bench. Bring your sleeping bag and camp stove, and you are all set! There are also places to pitch a tent, if desired. We are just a mile down the road from where EB White lived, the setting of Stuart Little's dream house (our yard) gives a glimpse into some real Maine living: Boats and boat trailers, a rambling garden, and often a free pile at the end of the driveway. *Note: There is no heat. *Note: There is no kitchen. camp stove + fuel can be rented for $5/night *Note: Please bring a sleeping bag. Otherwise, bedding/linens can be rented at $10/bed. *Hip Camp likes to say we are less than an hour to Acadia National Park, but I feel that is misleading. While we are close-ish, it usually takes over an hour to get to the main visitors center, Hulls Cove. It's usually about 1.5 hours to get to any of the trails/beaches. See site profile for more information. This off-grid cabin sits on the edge of the woods, with a sea breeze, and the squawks of seagulls and hoots of owls. It’s also at the edge of my yard. There are two double futons, a table and chairs, a small porch, and a picnic table to use. Bring your sleeping bag and camp stove and you will be all set! Potable water provided in water cube. Bathroom is a custom out house with boating toilet (instructions provided). The cabin has very limited power. There is an extension chord run from a shed to power the fan and/or devices. There is a solar panel that runs two lights if it has been sunny out. (*Note: we do lose power occasionally, even in the summer. ) There is only one cabin, so there will be no other campers. However, it is in the yard of a home where 3 adults live, so you may see/hear other people. In the summer, you may see/hear me watering the garden Other important notes: -There is no heat. -There is no kitchen. A camp stove can be rented for an extra fee at checkout. -Please let me know if you need both futons pulled into beds before arrival. -Bedding is not included, but can be rented for an extra fee at checkout. -The door to the cabin was repurposed from another house. So there is no key to the door. -Self check-in *Hip Camp likes to say we are less than an hour to Acadia National Park, but I feel that is misleading.
