Romantic
Recent Hipcampers say this Hipcamp is romantic.
Stuart Little’s dream house is an off-grid cabin on the edge of the woods, in the backyard of our home. The cabin is perfect for people who are camping, but want a little more accommodation. It has two futons that can turn into double beds, table and chairs, small porch, outhouse, limited power and a picnic table. Bring your sleeping bag, headlamp, camp stove, and you are all set! There are also places to pitch a tent, if desired. We are just a mile down the road from where EB White lived. The setting of Stuart Little's dream house (our yard) gives a glimpse into some real Maine living: Boats and boat trailers, a rambling garden, and often a free pile at the end of the driveway. *Note: There is no heat or/ac. There is limited power via an extension chord for a couple devices. We do sometimes lose power if it is windy. *Note: There is no kitchen. camp stove + fuel can be rented for $5/night *Note: Please bring a sleeping bag. Otherwise, bedding/linens can be rented at $10/bed. *Hip Camp likes to say we are less than an hour to Acadia National Park, but I feel that is misleading. It's usually about 1.5 hours to get to any of the trails/beaches. See site profile for more information. This off-grid cabin sits on the edge of the woods, with a sea breeze, and the squawks of seagulls and hoots of owls. It’s also at the edge of my yard. There are two double futons, a table, 2 chairs, small porch and picnic table. Bring your sleeping bag, headlamp, and camp stove and you will be all set! Potable water provided in water cube. Bathroom is a custom out house with an RV-style toilet (instructions provided). The cabin has very limited power. There is no heat or a/c. There is an extension chord that runs from a shed to power the fan and/or devices. There is a solar panel that runs two lights if it has been sunny out. (*NOTE: we do lose power occasionally, even in the summer, so if you require power this may not be a good fit for you) There is only one cabin, so there will be no other campers. However, the cabin is in the yard of a home where 3 adults live, so you will likely see/hear other people. In the summer, you may see/hear Tressa watering the garden as it is near the cabin. The path to the cabin is woodchipped, but there are roots and stumps so please be careful when walking around (especially in the dark). Other important notes: -There is no heat. -There is no kitchen. A camp stove can be rented for an extra fee at checkout. -Please let me know if you need both futons pulled into beds before arrival. -Bedding is not included, but can be rented for an extra fee at checkout. -The door to the cabin was repurposed from another house. So there is no key to the door. -Self check-in. *TRAVEL NOTE: Hip Camp likes to say we are less than an hour to Acadia National Park, but I feel that is misleading. It is less then an hour a new visitor's center but the main visitor center, trails and beaches average about 1.5 hours away. *In your reservation request, please let me know you have read this by writing if you are bringing your own bedding/camp stove or you need to rent. Thanks!
