True Serendipity Homestead

Incredible property, we were very moved and impressed by Mike’s personal story of the land’s transformation. Each campsite placement was so well thought out, and we especially appreciated the access to boats, water, and veggies. Even the outhouse was beautiful haha. If you get the opportunity, definitely camp on Bobcat Island. You park and it’s a super simple and quick walk over a short bridge, and the island itself feels very cozy and peaceful. Would love to come back!

Acadia Home Base

Mike and Cheryl were excellent hosts, and maintain a beautiful property at True Serendipity homestead. We stayed on Bobcat Island for 4 days, using it as our base of operations for Acadia- about a 35-45 minute drive, well worth it to have a peaceful private stay in comparison to the very busy camper grounds on Mt. Desert Isle. The site was perfect- a good distance away from the other sites for comfort/privacy. The site is a small walk in but you can still park your car quite close, loading in with our dolly was no problem at all on the clean, clear trail. Restroom facilities were clean, the water from the spring fed well was cool and clear. Many thanks to Mike and Cheryl for their hospitality, we will certainly be back!!

Mike is truly a gem of a man who joyfully toils to create a nature wonderland to for all to enjoy. Go and visit and help make his little farm park even more beautiful while you partake of the many gifts from his garden, henhouse, forest, and pond. The frogs and roosters will help you settle into the rhythm of this magical place. We thank him for a wonderful stay!

Exceptional in every aspect!

Our stay at Mike and Cheryl’s Hipcamp was truly exceptional. We stayed at Goose Paradise, and the site was wonderful, offering a peaceful retreat in nature right on the edge of the pond. We camped with our two children (11 and 15) and our Golden Retriever, and it was the perfect setting for all of us. The campsites were spacious, well-spaced, and offered plenty of privacy. In my opinion, Goose Paradise is the pick of the sites. It's right on the water's edge and next to the Activity Hut, while still being conveniently close to the restroom and spring Our kids loved taking out the rowboat to fish and explore the pond, which added so much to the experience. You can tell that this campground is a true passion project for the hosts and not just a business. What really made our stay memorable was the incredible hospitality of Mike and Cheryl. They went above and beyond to make us feel welcome, and it almost felt like staying with family rather than at a campground. We had an amazing time and will definitely be returning! ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐

The BEST camping near Acadia!!

The most beautiful property and the sweetest hosts! This place was like a dream, it’s truly magical. My kids picked carrots in the garden and we got fresh eggs from the chickens for our breakfast. The toilet is a real flush toilet and clean. Each campsite has a fire pit and picnic table (they provide a bundle of firewood and there is more on hand for purchase). The campsites are nicely spaced out, all but duck hill and goose paradise are very private, surrounded by trees (duck hill has trees on three sides). There are beautiful hiking trails and the pond is absolutely gorgeous. Our kids loved going out on the canoe! We stayed here our last night but I really regret not staying here our whole trip, much nicer than everywhere else we camped, it is well worth the short drive to the peninsula! The hosts Mike and Cheryl were the icing on the cake, they were so kind and just seemed genuinely happy to have us there. Will 100% stay here when we visit Acadia in the future!

Otter Slide

The location is beautiful, and the otter slide site is nice and secluded. The owners are lovely and very helpful if you have any questions. There is a pond on the property that is great to swim and they have kayaks you can use. Overall fantastic!

Bear Hollow

Mike and Cheryl are wonderful hosts! They are very friendly and take excellent care of their property. All their instructions for accessing our campsite were clear and we felt very comfortable staying here. We hope to visit again in the future.

Rabbit Run

So far this has been the best campsite I’ve found! Having accessing to running potable water and a proper restroom really elevated this from a normal camping trip to a great one. Free use of vegetables from the garden and eggs from the chickens is such a nice perk. The firewood bundles are a good size. It’s located about 30 minutes from the entrance to Acadia NP, 10 minutes from Momo’s cheesecake bakery and Walmart. Overall 10/10 experience.

My friend and I adored camping here. We stayed over a week and would choose it again in the future. Mike and Cheryl were great hosts and allowed us to make the camping spot our home. It was such a magical camping spot with full view of their beautiful lake. The lake is spectacular to kayak in or using the row boat. We saw others fishing as well, but that wasn't really for us. They also let us take some eggs and anything they had available in the garden. Mike shared some stories about the property with us and we hiked the trail many times. The trail was also magical. It was about 20 to 30 minutes from Acadia and definitely far enough away to be a very private and quiet place to camp. The bathroom was also very well kept and we were happy to be able to have that available. My dog also started with us and she also seemed to really enjoy her time outdoors with us. We definitely recommend this place and will be coming back in the future with friends.

The Truest Serendipity

Bobcat Island was nothing short of magical! It was the perfect location - both the actual site and the Homestead. The site was secluded yet accessible. We easily fit a six person tent and an additional tent with porch. The picnic table and fire ring had plenty of space to walk around. We had plenty of space for the lead for the dog and her bed. The trees are perfectly spaced both for hammocks and movie screens. The Homestead was conveniently located to anything we needed but felt private. Mike and Cheryl were wonderful hosts. As if the obvious care they take of the entire property wasn’t enough, they offer a garden full of seasonal vegetables, eggs, recreational opportunities (basketball, fishing, canoeing/kayaking/row- and paddle boating), and an activity shed with even more options. The hike around the property is well-maintained; navigably rugged. The communication is exceptional. Most importantly, they’re genuinely warm and welcoming people. My kids and I are already planning our trip back next year (which is saying a lot that two teenagers want to road trip from Florida to stay there again). Highly recommend if true serendipity (and serenity) are what you’re into. :-)

This space offers a wide variety of camping settings and levels of privacy for tents and RV's. It also has some fun trails and water recreation we really enjoyed (along with fishing, basketball and other game and sport options). Although a shower was not an option, the outhouse was clean, roomy, and included a traditional toilet (not a scary or stinky compost setup). Mike was also a pleasure to chat with if you happen to see him working on the property. Although the property is off the road to provide amazing silence, it also includes a natural chorus of frogs from the pond, wide array of song birds, and even the fun sounds of young and old roosters in the AM. For some, all these sounds may be a bit much, but we loved to hear them and found the sounds of nature and the homestead to be charming aspects of the experience.

Peaceful/special camping experience

Wow wow wow! This is by far one of my favorite places I have camped. It truly feels so special and is hosted by two of the loveliest people, Mike and Cheryl. It is evident how much care they put into hosting and the property. Frog Nook is surrounded by woods on 3 sides, equipped with picnic table/firepit, and is conveniently located right across from the potable water (which happens to be super fresh and directly from the natural spring on the property!) Spent a slow morning picking veggies from the garden, watching the chickens, drinking fresh spring water, and counting frogs. Definitely don't pass this one up!

Lovely property! Mike and Cheryl are wonderful. Very accommodating and seem to truly love sharing this space with other folks. As long time campers themselves they really know how to make a space come alive. The signage and reflectors were so helpful for our later than expected arrival as well! Really wasn't a detail that haven't considered! The bull frogs at night were unforgettable !

We loved camping here! The sights are clearly marked. Our site was right by the pond and not too far from the bathroom. It was very peaceful at camp, even with other people at the other sites. Sites are pretty private and if you have a walkin camp spot there’s lights to guide you to the sites. Mike and Cheryl did a great job with their campground. There’s also an activity shed with life jackets, chairs, fishing poles, basketball, etc. We would stay here again!

Such an incredible place to stay! Not far from Acadia/ Bar Harbor, but far enough away to feel secluded and peaceful. Mike met us outside when we pulled up and talked about how he came to get this piece of land. Their story is incredible & we hope to use inspiration from them to create our own homestead someday. We stayed on Bobcat island and were met with the most beautiful campsite I’ve ever stayed on, with pond views & birds & frogs everywhere. The first night we stayed, we were the only ones camping there, and I feel so lucky to have gotten to enjoy it to ourselves! The chickens are so goofy, a nice boat ride on the pond was picturesque, and the bathroom was luxurious for camping. I highly recommend staying here, for multiple nights if you can! We will absolutely be back. Thanks Mike & Cheryl!!
