Such an incredible place to stay! Not far from Acadia/ Bar Harbor, but far enough away to feel secluded and peaceful. Mike met us outside when we pulled up and talked about how he came to get this piece of land. Their story is incredible & we hope to use inspiration from them to create our own homestead someday. We stayed on Bobcat island and were met with the most beautiful campsite I’ve ever stayed on, with pond views & birds & frogs everywhere. The first night we stayed, we were the only ones camping there, and I feel so lucky to have gotten to enjoy it to ourselves! The chickens are so goofy, a nice boat ride on the pond was picturesque, and the bathroom was luxurious for camping. I highly recommend staying here, for multiple nights if you can! We will absolutely be back. Thanks Mike & Cheryl!!

Goose Paradise

We loved camping here. We stayed at Goose Paradise; which was the perfect spot along the pond with parking available. The potable water is close and fresh! The bathroom was well maintained. I would definitely come back here.

Mike and Cheryl have truly carved their space into a beautiful camp ground - we have stayed at many campgrounds and this is at the top of our list. Their space is beautifully laid out so that everyone has a bit of privacy but all the amenities are accessible no matter where you stay. We had a wonderful time exploring the pond with the provided canoe and had fun wandering the path around it. The hosts are both sweethearts, with wonderful stories about the history of the land. You can tell how much love and care they have poured into this camp ground - built all themselves over the last 6 years. We even got to enjoy fresh eggs from their coop - a wonderful bonus on top of the already lovely stay! Definitely book this campground - a perfect balance of accessibility and privacy in a gorgeous setting. We plan on coming back with some friends for another stay!

Otter Slide

We thoroughly enjoyed spending time on Mike and Cheryl‘s property. It was very apparent that they put a lot of time and effort into establishing where the campsites were and setting up the campsites which were very secluded from one another. We are an older couple that camps a few times a year and appreciate the solitude of a very nature filled campsite. Their campsite was exactly what we were looking for to enjoy quiet time in nature. In addition, they offered eggs to all the campers for breakfast, which was extremely generous of them. It was the best of both worlds being that we were on a secluded site but had easy access to a flushable toilet and a sink. The trails on the property were also amazing and the ability to go out on the pond was much appreciated. The Homestead was extremely close to many activities and many amenities. We hope to return to camp there again in the future.

First time camping!

This was our first time camping and it was an amazing experience at serendipity. The place was clean and spacious, plenty of room for everything. The location was isolated yet close to all the stores you need (if you’re like me and forgot a few items lol) and only about 20-30 mins away from Acadia national park. Mike and Cheryl were amazing hosts and were super welcoming. We got fresh eggs for breakfast one morning and got to hike the trail around the pond. 100% will be back with the rest of the family!!

Goose Paradise

Mike and Cheryl are such gems!! This place was wonderful. Safe and quiet, right next to a lake. This was my first solo camping trip and never felt unsafe or uncomfortable. Also, they are so accommodating to me during my stay there. There is a nice outhouse and lots of animals! It's also a perfect distance from Acadia!! Thank you so much and hope to stay again in the future!!

We had the pleasure of staying at Mike & Cheryl's hipcamp for 3 nights in the Duck Hill site. We would def recommend this site for van camping. Mike was very accommodating, the bathroom was clean and fresh eggs were a welcome bonus. Would def recommend and stay again.

We had a great experience at True Serendipity. The hosts took good care of us, the location was beautiful and private, and close to Acadia for a day trip. The bathroom was clean, firewood was plentiful, and the fresh eggs in the morning were delicious. We hope to visit again some time. Enjoy!

Bear Hollow

This is a beautiful campground and our campsite was exceptional! Mike and Cheryl do a wonderful job as caretakers and immediately made us feel welcome and right at home. We used this as a staging area for Acadia and it worked perfectly! Would absolutely stay here again and highly recommend to anyone who wants to get out in nature.

It’s obvious from the moment you arrive that Mike and Cheryl have put an incredible amount of thought, time, and effort into this property. Every part of the campground feels intentional and well cared for, from the layout of the sites to the little details that make the experience comfortable and enjoyable. Bobcat Island was easily one of the coolest and most unique camping spots we’ve stayed at. It feels secluded and peaceful while still being accessible, and it gave us that perfect escape into nature that we were looking for. The attention to detail throughout the property really stood out—nothing felt thrown together. You can tell this is a passion project and that the hosts genuinely care about creating a memorable experience for their guests. The grounds were clean, well maintained, and had a great balance of privacy and convenience. We spent our time relaxing, exploring, and just appreciating how much character the property has. Mike and Cheryl were fantastic hosts—friendly, welcoming, and clearly dedicated to making sure guests have a great stay. We’ve camped in a lot of places, and this is one that we’ll be talking about for a long time. If you’re considering staying here, don’t hesitate. Bobcat Island and the entire campground are something special, and we can’t wait to come back.

Great spot near Acadia! The location was convenient for exploring the park and the surrounding area, while still feeling peaceful and tucked away. The site was easy to access, clean, and had everything we needed for a comfortable stay. Overall, a simple, relaxing camping experience and a great base for an Acadia trip. Would definitely recommend.

Mike and Cheryl have such a beautiful gem, I cannot wait to have an excuse to come back up to maine to visit again, we just happened to be the only campers that weekend on bobcat island and they welcomed us to stay an extra day and I have no regrets. What a little slice of peace it was and so so close to Acadia for us without having to deal with the crowds, I could gush forever about this site 🫶

We had a lovely time on the property! All of the animal life was beautiful and the trail around the pond is a great way to stretch your legs after spending too much time in a tent or setting up a fire. Highly recommended

I wish we stayed longer!

My husband and I were visiting Acadia and spent the night at the rabbit run spot. There was firewood and water set out for us and we were given clear instructions on how to get there. Best of all: a bathroom with a toilet and running water!! You’ll be greeted in the morning by chickens, ducks, and their dog Sadie if you’re lucky. If we’re ever back in the area we’ll 100% be staying here again. Thank you Mike and Cheryl!

By far, this was the most pleasant Hipcamp experience I’ve had. Every site at this homestead is nice, well-maintained and easily accessed. The host, Mike, was truly amazing as he went above and beyond to help us out! Upon our arrival, we realized we had some vehicle issues. Mike was more than willing to help accommodate us while we fixed the issue. What could have been a terrible situation was made better by the fact that we had stayed at this location. We would 100% recommend booking any site at the True Serendipity Homestead! You get a quiet, beautiful view and you’re helping a true homesteader!

We ❤️ True Serendipity

This was our second trip to Acadia National Park where we chose to stay at True Serendipity and we can’t wait to keep coming back. The worst thing about our trip was that we couldn’t stay longer! It is a beautiful site with great hosts and plenty of amenities to elevate the experience.
