PARKING IS BESIDE THE TENT SITES AT GOOSE PARADISE, FROG NOOK, RABBIT RUN, and DUCK HILL. SHORT HIKES INTO THE WOODS: BEAR HOLLOW AND SQUIRREL HIDEAWAY. BOBCAT ISLAND IS A SHORT HIKE ACROSS A BRIDGE. (These three locations would require you to carry your camping gear to the site). This is a working, solar powered homestead, totally off-grid with chickens, ducks, geese and turkeys. Available to you is fresh eggs, greenhouse vegetables and garden vegetables that you pick yourself to enjoy while you are here. There is an Artesian spring-fed 2 acre pond for fishing (catch and release only). Semi secluded tent sites are not very far from an outhouse furnished with flush toilet and a sink with fresh running water. All tent sites have a fire pit and a picnic table. Enjoy hiking trails or forge off into the woods to explore on this beautiful 25 acre homestead. Sit and relax by the pond while watching for beavers, raccoons, blue heron and even eagles! Listen to the babbling of the Artisian spring where the ice cold water is pumped to the homestead by solar power. Blueberries, wild strawberries and blackberries are fun to look for and eat. Enjoy the cool nights while star gazing, watching fireflies and listening to the frogs and owls. Watch the operation of a working sawmill, learn to tie flies and how to fly fish. In the future there will be blacksmithing demos and classes, art (painting) classes and nature photography classes. There will be a nominal fee for classes. Only minutes away is Home Depot, Walmart, restaurants, shopping, Bar Harbor, Acadia National Park, antique shops, Historic Downtown Ellsworth and the OCEAN!!

Rabbit Run
Mike and Cheryl are wonderful hosts and have created a lovely self sustaining place to get away from it all, yet close enough to amenities/supplies if needed. It's a beautiful, peaceful setting within about 30 minutes of Bar Harbor/Acadia if that's why you're in the area. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at Rabbit Run and would definitely stay there again. Duck Hill
True Serendipity Homestead is a gem! Located close to civilization you feel far removed from the civilized world. It’s a very peaceful atmosphere with a frog choir at night, roosters crowing in the morning, ducks and geese swimming about the pond and two guinea fowl wandering about the grounds trumpeting their unmelodic squawks! We appreciated the drinking water spigot which made bringing in bottled water or purifying pond water unnecessary. What we most appreciated was the outhouse with “indoor” plumbing which was equipped with a flush toilet, a sink with running water, a vanity, mirror, light, several hooks to hang toiletry bags, towels or clothing. There was liquid soap to wash your hands and plenty of paper towels and toilet paper. It was also very clean. You really appreciate that luxury when you spend four nights during an unusually hot summer. Our Duck Hill campsite was spacious, level and covered with a thick layer of wood mulch which provided a soft surface for our tent and helped prevent tracking dirt into it. The site was semi-secluded giving us a feeling of privacy yet it was a short walk to both the water spigot and the outhouse. Mike, the owner, is an easy going man who has accomplished a lot at this campsite in a short time. He has a wealth of information about the campsite, the wildlife, and the local area. Mike is also a master blacksmith and he’ll gladly show you around his workshop. Just a fantastic place. We hope to visit again.

Squirrel Hideaway
Super cute site- we were at the “squirrel hideaway” which was nicely farther back from the main road. Some of the other campsites were slightly closer together, which felt less secluded but were closer to the bathroom by a hair. We had fun using their canoe on the little pond and did blacksmithing with Mike- fun way to spend a morning.

Rabbit Run
Mike was very helpful and friendly when we first got there. Was there only to sleep one night, but the camp site was nice and the pond was beautiful. Would definitely recommend!

Goose Paradise
Peaceful environment
We enjoyed the pond, the ducks, geese, chickens, and generally peaceful environment. We even took a hike on the trail around the property and took the canoe out on the pond. Mike brought us a pile of firewood soon after we arrived and was very nice to talk to.

Bobcat Island
Perfect summer oasis
My family and I had a great time! I brought my two boys ( 5 and 7 YO) and they had the BEST time! There was so much to explore and the host was fantastic!
