Recognizing both its history and its potential to offer people a deeper experience of Deer Isle’s natural beauty, he began the process of carefully restoring and reopening the land. Working season by season, Caleb rebuilt the sites, added new infrastructure, re-established utilities, and designed a campground that honors the land’s roots while offering a comfortable, modern, and nature-forward experience for today’s guests. In July 2020, the property reopened under a new name: Four Acre Woods. Our mission is to create a sustainable sanctuary for Veterans, First Responders, creatives, and the broader community to experience mental, emotional, and spiritual renewal. WSS was born from a desire to serve and support others while building a sustainable, passive residual income model that reinvests into the land and the people it serves. Nestled in the wilderness near Acadia National Park, our off-the-grid campground merges rustic camping on a lake. If available we offer massage therapy, yoga, energy work, and bodywork, (to name a few) in three ways: 1. When campers request private sessions during their stay. 2. Recently selectively logged we discovered views of local mountains and decided to take advantage of the clearings. The cabin was built for me to steal away from the house and enjoy the wildlife, quiet, stars and silence. It is too peaceful to keep to myself so come and enjoy all that Norway Maine and the surrounding area has to offer! Learn more about this land: Welcome to Lulu's. Where you can get a little crazy under the moon or you can take in the peace and serenity of the stillness in the woods. Depends on what you are looking for! No neighbors to infringe on your ideal get away. The large cabin has a welcoming front porch to enjoy the amazing sunrises over Streaked Mtn. 100 acres of privacy to hike, watch wildlife and just relax. Cabin has outside facilities. Off the grid-no electric or running water. Cell service is adequate. 1 gallon of fresh well water provided for drinking and 10 gallons for washing/cooking. Bring your own linens for a queen size bed, twin bunk beds and a full pull out couch. 2 pillows are supplied with a pillow protective cover and pillow case which are washed after each guest. Pots, pans and utensils, are onsite which are washed between campers; trash bags, compost bags, paper towels, dish soap, dish towels and a 2 burner propane stove(green canisters needed) and an older propane table top grill are provided. Swimming in North Pond available in July & August. There is no lifeguard so you go at your own risk. Come relax on this private 5 acre waterfront escape. A long driveway will open up into a cleared lot. The end of the driveway is a large crushed gravel parking pad which should easily accommodate any RV or trailer (make sure you back in, there's no room to turn around). The pad is mostly flat, but minor leveling on RV's is probably still needed. Site overlooks Flanders Bay which feeds into Mount Desert Narrows. Watch the family of 5 eagles fly back and forth across the cove and bring binoculars to watch them as they perch in nearby trees. The cove is filled with a variety of seabirds and the occasional harbor seal. You will have complete quiet as you listen to the sounds of forest and coastal life.Property is located 11 miles from Schoodic Peninsula of Acadia National park and a quick 35 miles from Bar Harbor. From May through mid November, site includes access to a HOT outdoor shower, well water, a working sink with hot water. Water is turned off after November 15th until late spring, weather dependent. We have installed a 50/30 AMP hookup for trailers/RV's - we do charge $15 extra per night for hookups, please coordinate with us at time of booking if you will need power for your camper - There is an electric outlet for small electronics like laptops/phones/coffee pot, site includes a campfire area, lots of open spaces to pitch a tent, and an outhouse. Second trip to Westerly and I’ll be back. The place is so stunning and comfortable that it’s hard to want to leave, despite all the great things to do nearby. We drove our EV this year which meant strategic management of miles (Bangor and Millinocket have fast chargers) but did all our favorite things and added a new activity to the roster - mountain biking the Peavey Brook trails in Patten after visiting the Lumberman’s Musuem. Made two trips to the excellent Amish farm stand just down the hill from the campsite for blueberry pie and beautiful handwoven baskets. The tent got really cozy with the stove, and enjoyed hearing coyotes & barred owl in the night.

Hands down the best Hipcamp spot we’ve ever stayed at! John and his wife met us upon arrival and accompanied us to the site and provided a map of all the extensive trails they’ve created on the property. The location is a beautiful, private point that feels remote and quiet, yet is still conveniently close to civilization. The setup is fantastic - it gives you a real camping experience with just the right touch of comfort, including a canvas tent on a platform, a propane cooking stove, fire ring, clean porta potty, and a canoe available for rent. The highlight for us (and especially our two labs!) was the private sandy beach. They had the absolute best time swimming and splashing around. We lucked out with gorgeous weather, wished we could have stayed longer, and will definitely be back. Thanks for an amazing stay, John and family!

I don’t even know what to say, it was perfect! Such a unique peace of land with the most beautiful view. The accommodation and amenities are just as uniquely fitting, creating a peaceful and romantic atmosphere that left us both fulfilled and sad when it was time to leave.. We cannot wait to come back. Highlights included sitting on the deck watching the sunset fall behind Katahdin, stargazing at the milky way and cooking food together in the kitchen. The fall colors putting on an art show across the valley was a big bonus! Thank you for the excellent communication and sharing your slice of paradise with us!

Lakeisha directions were easy. The road is rough but we didn’t mind, our vehicle is rough ready. The blueberry fields are absolutely gorgeous in mid September. When I looked up from a task my whole being was amazed! The colors unbelievable. Mike and Cheryl’s was such a wonderful place and experience! It is aptly named True Serendipity given its beauty and peacefulness. You can definitely see all the hard work, time, thought and care that went into creating the space from the thoughtfully planned secluded camp sites to the trails throughout the property and more. I would stay here again in a heartbeat!

Aroostook & the Highlands

Maine’s mountainous north is the stuff that hiker’s bucket lists are made of. The sprawling wilderness of Baxter State Park is the starting point of the epic Appalachian Trail and home to Maine’s highest peak—the 5,267-foot Mount Katahdin. Miles of hiking trails run through the highlands, along with some of the state’s best snowmobiling and cross-country skiing trails.
