Very secure place. Improvements I would like to see would be a handicapped Porta potty trim the hedges to the entrance of the shower And maybe a lean to, to keep the wood dry when it rains

Campsite was simple (no picnic table, bathroom is a porta potty), but got the job done, and is conveniently located near Acadia NP. It was also cool the hear the wolves howl at night.

I wish I had read the negative comments before booking this site.
I booked a site, for 1 night, we had two cars (one with a car top tent, the other with our kayaks). We just needed a place to pop up our tent then make breakfast in the morning before packing up to leave. You have to call the day before to arrange meeting someone at the gate, which is a 12 foot high zombie proof chain link fence that encompasses the property. Inside is a parking lot, were showed the rutted muddy spot to tent. The only porta potty for the camp is well used and filthy. There’s a hose for water and you can use the sink attached to the back of the house to wash up. We were shown where to park the second car. In the morning we brought the second car over to the site to load up a few things. Heather came out of the house screaming, that we knew better, that I would cause her to loose her camping license for having two cars on that site. We apologized and my friend quickly moved her car back to the parking spot. Heather, in a rage ran up and blocked her from coming back to the site. She then stood in our site, in what seemed like a meth induced rant, not letting us pack and called the police to have us escorted off the property. The State Troopers were lovely and kept Heather away from us as we finished packing, Heather videoed us leaving and posted it on her facebook. If you want an awful ghetto experience, stay here. Look at the yelp reviews. This is not the first time. Seek help Heather.

Great location for exploring the Bar Harbor area without all the crowds and congestion.
Locked gate provides security and access was hassle free with use of your own key. Minimal personnel contact for check in and check out. BJ and Heather were wonderful hosts, we will be returning soon and hopefully often!

Heather was very friendly and let us know about the northern lights the night of our stay. It was easy to check in and check out and everything was as described. This is a safe camp site behind a locked gate.

The space allotted to us was SO spacious, and listening to the wolves chitter and howl at night was so cool! Beautiful property and great proximity to Acadia. My group also rented the barn loft, and that was a really unique and comfortable space for my friends who didn’t have camping gear. Having access to a hot shower was a huge plus! Heather was so generous and understanding while I tried to wrangle multiple people together and iron out plans, and I really appreciated her flexibility! Would definitely recommend to a friend!

It was a chill spot to camp for a couple of nights. It's next to the highway so there are car sounds but it's secluded enough to where you don't feel like you're being watched. The bathroom was just a porta potty and I didn't try their outdoor shower. Worked well in the fall time! But there weren't any trees in our campsite so I'd imagine it gets quite toasty in the summer.

We had an incredible stay at Kisma Preserve, camping for four nights. It was in an ideal location just 25-30 minutes from Bar Harbor and Acadia. Heather and the staff were welcoming and friendly, making our stay even more enjoyable. When they say you’ll hear the wolves howling at night, they aren’t exaggerating! It was a thrill to see the wolves up close and hear their howls echo through the evening. Truly an unforgettable experience.
Reading the negative reviews ( google)- some people do not understand that this is a sight to pitch your tent… there are facilities including running water, a hot outside shower, portapotty, and firewood on sight. If you are tent camping, it’s a great spot! If you need more facilities, go to a hotel.

OK enough, but it is an underwhelming campsite for the price. It is near the highway, situated on uneven ground (not ideal for a tent), and lacking amenities. The place is described honestly as primitive camping by the host, but for the price it could use a few more touches - even just a picnic table at each site.

I enjoyed the privacy that this tent site had to offer. There was a very pretty stream and pond at the campsite and it was out of view from the other sites and the road (though you could hear traffic noise). The hostess was very responsive, helpful, and laid back. It was not as remote as I was expecting and there were no flat spots to pitch a tent. We got the "total package" and there were a few things that could have been included, like a can opener, knife, cutting board, bowls, a jug of drinking water, a few more cooking utensils, and soap to wash up the dishes, but we made do the best we could. It was quiet at night and all in all, we had a nice camping trip conveniently close to Acadia.

Thoroughly read reviews on Hipcamp and for Kisma Preserve on google before booking! I did but didn’t believe a host could be THAT bad.. trust me she is…. I was supposed to stay here Friday through Monday. I did not get to stay as heather would not accommodate an 8 pm check on Friday or 4 pm on Saturday of my stay but would take my money. I followed the listing and called nearly two weeks before my arrival to arrange checkin. She said 8 pm arrival was very late and staff would be asleep and I would disturb campers. Fine I thought, I could arrange a different stay for Friday night. Then apparently there was a tour on Saturday at 4 pm during my proposed check in time. Um hello hire staff for both services if you offer both? I believe the reviews mentioning that she is hostile and yells at guests and is a drunk because my experience over the app and through the phone was enough for me to feel unsafe staying here. She wrote paragraphs to me in an aggressive and quite frankly unhinged manner. I have stayed at well over a dozen hipcamps over 5 years and never ever experienced a host like this. I feel bad for the animals and her staff that have to deal with her wrath regularly.

This is NOT camping with wolves. It's camping near some wolves that you might be able to glimpse through a hedge if you time it right. Don't come for wolves the pictures are definitely misleading.
Bathroom is REALLY far from the tent sites, so if it's raining you are going to get wet.
The road is very close to where you're staying and pretty loud

The experience was amazing. My husband and I stayed here for our first anniversary. It was close to Acadia, which we went to every day. The sounds of the wolves nightly was truly a wonderful sound! We stayed in the bikers bunkhouse. The barn was clean and had everything we needed for a good nights rest. The outdoor shower had hot running water. Heather was a great host and answered all our questions. Thank you for a great experience!

We camped here for one night. The staff were super friendly and accommodating. Listening to the wolves howl at night was amazing! We also took the VIP tour of the preserve the next day. We got to meet a few of the wolves along with other wildlife they had here. I would highly recommend visiting to anyone with an interest in wolves. I can’t praise this place enough. Such an amazing experience and well worth the price.

I loved camping on Heather's land, it was quite and peaceful. We stayed for 4 nights, didn't have anyone camping next to us. The sites are large and far apart from each other. We could hear the wolves howling at night from our 5th wheel. We saw the sunrise from out trailer window. Close to Acadia park. Took a wolf walk tour, it was amazing. Heather was so helpful with our stay, directions to get to there were easy to follow. I will definitely stay there again. Thanks Heather for a wonderful stay.

This is a beautiful property with amazing animals that they are super knowledgeable about! You can tell how much they love the property and the animals, it was truly the most beautiful setting for a rustic Maine birthday getaway! The biker's bunkhouse was simple but comfortable and perfectly suited our needs (hammocks for camping in the main garage area and a private bedroom with a surprisingly comfy bed). Portapotty right outside the bunkhouse was extremely clean! There is fresh water and an outdoor shower available on site as well. We took one of the tours, a double wolf walk and it's an experience I will never ever forget! We will definitely return again :) as a Maine native I had always wanted to visit and I'm so glad I did. It's close to Acadia and a lot of fun shops as well! Myself and all my guests had a wonderful time!

The site was awesome! Super private, with the exception of the wildlife! Lots of birds and frogs, and true to promise- wolves howling each night.
All was as expected and easy to navigate. The host was lovely and offered easy to understand instructions for staying on her land, which was secured with a chainlink-type fence for which you're given a key to come and go as you please. The porta-potty was fairly clean for a porta-potty and the shower was outdoors with hot water. Acadia National park was about a 30ish minute drive (past shops and lobster shacks, it was not unpleasant whatsoever).

The site feels very secure because it’s behind a gate despite being near the main road (if you’re a light sleeper, bring ear plugs). Heather was super friendly and gave us information on how to get to the location. The tent site was hard soil that didn’t take our tent stakes well, which made it challenging to keep the tent weighed down, but the site was clean and the fire pit was nice. The toilet is a port-a-potty, which was decently clean. The shower is outdoors, which is fine, but has a hedge on one side and a wall on the other side, but it’s pretty much like showering in the wide open. Luckily, all the sites weren’t taken, so we had no waits to use the toilet or shower, but it would be ideal to put a door on the shower stall at least so you can take a shower without someone watching you. It felt like a high price for few amenities, but you know the money is going to a good cause to care for the animals on the preserve!

Nice camp site easy to get too about 25 mins from the national park but the campground felt very underwhelming. Anything to do with the wolves in not included and imo alittle over priced. But shower nice and warm. Camp site very clean, easy to get in and out. Cell service is there

Kisma, Heather’s land is beautiful and so calming. I love it so much this is the third time I’ve been. The first time I didn’t camp, just took a tour and learned about the animals. This was my second time staying. My hubby and I are thinking this may be a yearly trip- we enjoy it so much. A peaceful get away, connecting with nature, your mind body and soul, and whoever you’re traveling with.

I admit that we arrived late at Heather's house. It was around 8:30 p.m. because we responded late to his last message.
But we were greeted with great rudeness, as if we were bad animals. Alcohol certainly explained his behavior and his language towards us.
Concerning the camp we were extremely disappointed and the price absolutely does not reflect reality. The toilets are disgusting.
I recommend spending the night at the park's campsites where you'll pay much less.
