Sunflower Ranch is the name of our home and property.
Not only is our cozy, modest house sunflower yellow but in August it is surrounded with sunflowers of all sizes.
We share our property with a flock of sweet hens and ducks.....and a few bossy roosters.
Eggs are available for purchase if needed. There is a little greenhouse with herbs, greens and strawberries. The field is also an apple orchard that mostly feeds the wildlife. The tent site is privately placed in our cove unseen from the house.
We wanted to offer a site that we would enjoy as well and feels like it is
in a world of its own. We spend all of our free time outside, camping and paddling the local rivers and lakes. Tommy and I can recommend many beautiful remote Maine adventures for you to experience that are located off the grid and away from all other humans.
The sweet city of Ellsworth is only 7 miles away for all of your provisions and Otis General Store is 1 mile away.. they have everything to get you through plus beer, wine, ice and homemade pizza. We can give you a pass to visit the Beech Hill Pond Beach also only 1 mile away (I walk there all the time)
which has clear water and a
sandy bottom. Great spot to spend the day sunbathing and swimming.
I can offer yoga, personal training, boxing and paddleboard lessons or SUP yoga for some onsite physical fitness fun upon request.

• The cabin is quite cozy for 1-2 people and/or 1-2 fur babies. The cabin itself has an 8x10’ floor plan with a full size futon. The deck gives another 3’ to enjoy your inside/outside stay.
• The property DOES get full sun so be aware of finding shade throughout the day! I like to enjoy the river(s) and explore the area during the peak heat hours!

Nestled in the wilderness near Acadia National Park, our off-the-grid campground merges rustic camping on a lake. If available we offer massage therapy, yoga, energy work, and bodywork, (to name a few) in three ways: 1. When campers request private sessions during their stay. 2. When wellness professionals host ongoing services onsite. 3. During WSS-hosted events that feature healing arts practitioners. Our event space will be available for rental and collaboration with local businesses, nonprofits, and community groups—so long as their purpose aligns with our values: promoting wellness, building connection, and supporting mental health through holistic means and nature's tranquility.
Each year we expand on this campground until it's full vision is a reality. For 2026 we have a few campsites, some have platforms, some without. The plan this year is to add a cabin, woodshed, bathroom and work on the trail system. Each campsite has a buffer of vegetation with the lake as a view, a fire pit and space to have more than one tent. There will be a waste bag toilet. No running water, not much cell service, no electricity. Park at the main road and bring your camping items into the woods. Your site will be labeled. Trash in, trash out. Firewood for sale, camping gear for rent. Canoe and walk the beach (if low levels). Dog friendly: must be friendly, on a leash and please be mindful of dogs digging. Here we value the land, it's sanctuary and soil erosion prevention along the shoreline. Friends and Family Market on rte 1A is the closest resupply.

Unplug and reconnect with nature at our rustic campsite nestled among the mossy rocks and ferns of Cape Jellison in Stockton Springs. This is a raw, off-grid campsite, so bring your own gear, bedding, lighting, water, and supplies and experience Maine’s wild beauty up close.
The campsite is located just off Rocky Point Road, a quiet dead-end dirt road. The platform tent is visible from the road, but traffic is generally limited to neighbors and the occasional vehicle misdirected by GPS toward nearby Sears Island.
The site includes a sturdy platform tent with a queen-size bed frame, a private portable camp toilet, and a simple camp shower bag that guests can fill with their own water. Bring your own sheets, blankets, pillows, towels, toiletries, and other camping supplies. There is no electricity, torch fuel, running water, trash service, or lighting provided onsite.
The toilet uses disposable waste bags. This is a Leave No Trace campsite, and campers must securely tie and pack out all used toilet bags, pet waste, trash, and personal belongings when they leave. There is no waste disposal available onsite.
The campsite’s highlight is a wooded trail leading to quiet beach access on Stockton Harbor. The walk takes approximately ten minutes for most adults but may take longer with small children or while carrying supplies. The trail includes uneven ground, roots, rocks, slopes, and a set of stairs leading down to the beach. Fire Lane 3 briefly interrupts the wooded trail, so campers will cross the lane before continuing toward the water.
At the bottom of the beach stairs, you’ll find a second fire ring that is perfect for an evening drink or early morning coffee. Search the shoreline for Maine sea glass, watch for eagles and deer, or enjoy views across Stockton Harbor.
The nearby Stockton Harbor Yacht Club offers a full-service bar and restaurant on the water, along with kayak and canoe rentals when available.

Great synchronicity led us to the wild 30 acres of marsh and woodland that is Turtle Marsh. In addition to making a home here, we dedicating the area as a sanctuary for the quiet enjoyment of nature, eco-spiritual practices and healing. We are now recognized by the World Wildlife Fund as a Certified Wildlife Habitat.
We have trails on the property that are designed for contemplative walks, along with several benches where you can sit in quiet enjoyment, undisturbed by human intrusions.
There are several trailheads for the Hills to Sea Trail within a mile of our property. The quintessential New England waterfront town of Belfast on Penobscot Bay, is less than 30 minutes away. One of our favorite spots for quiet hikes along the shore of the bay, is Sears Island. It is one of the largest undeveloped islands on the east coast, that is connected to the mainland by a causeway. The island is 50 minutes away and even on the busiest summer days, its's usually possible to find a quiet spot on the shore to sit and reflect.
As we continue to deepen our relationship with this land, we are trying to follow the principles of Deep Ecology in all of our interactions. Our tentsites, while only a 5 minute walk from the road, have been sited to offer as much solitude as possible, with minimal disruption to the surroundings.
For 2025 we are opening a new site. It is a little more secluded, 2-3 minutes further from the road in a very quiet wooded niche, at the edge of the marsh. It is also a little smaller tent (10' diameter) situated on a platform, and a little more "camping" than "glamping". We are pricing the stay there according.
In spite of being nestled in the woods, no trees were cut to prepare these relatively accessible sites. We believe that they still offer a very tangible sense of wildness and solitude.

We are just a mile down the road from where EB White lived. The setting of Stuart Little's dream house (our yard) gives a glimpse into some real Maine living: Boats and boat trailers, a rambling garden, and often a free pile at the end of the driveway.
*Note: There is no heat or/ac. There is limited power via an extension chord for a couple devices. We do sometimes lose power if it is windy.
*Note: There is no kitchen. camp stove + fuel can be rented for $5/night
*Note: Please bring a sleeping bag. Otherwise, bedding/linens can be rented at $10/bed.
*Hip Camp likes to say we are less than an hour to Acadia National Park, but I feel that is misleading. It's usually about 1.5 hours to get to any of the trails/beaches.

Now a tiny dirt road, with ultimate privacy, Stone Hill was once a bustling 'highway' for folks traveling by horse and carriage as early as the 1700's and before then the lush valley was a thriving home for the Abenaki Tribe.
This land is a gorgeous example of Maine's pristine nature and is full of native plants, fungi, and animals that we share the space with!
The cabin is a cute little space made from recycled materials, creative building skills, and a whole lot of love. Nothing fancy by any means, just a fun spot to hide away with loved ones! We celebrate the simple things in life here. It's perfect for couples, small families, or upto 4 guests in 2 beds.
Take a walk out the door into the woods, play down by the stream- have a campfire- or spend the day with your nose in a good book. The loft is fully stocked with paints and brushes if you're feeling the flow! It's just a great place to let go, and relax!
The sky is intense- the owls are loud, and there is plenty to do within a short drive incase ya get cabin fever and want to get back into the world for some fun!
Make sure to save some time to take a paddle on the canoe, kayaks, or paddleboard that we leave down at a nearby pond for you!

A mystical 7 acres of mossy woods on the edge of Acadia National Park. Listen for coyotes, owls and even loons on the lake. We are just a 1.5 mile walk from the border of the Park. Just a short drive from the most popular spots. Yet even at the height of summer, it’s really peaceful here on the quiet side of the island. Sometimes called the wild side :)

We had an absolutely magical time staying in Heather’s little spot in the forest. We loved the privacy, the surrounding evergreens, the amenities - everything about it! We got to know some regulars, including a family of deer, a few lightening bugs, and a very curious hummingbird. Would 10/10 recommended if you’re looking to find some peace and natural beauty in your life.

Weekend Trip to Turtle Marsh- secluded wooded site.
We're relatively local and had a great weekend away from the noise of the coast on Peter's land. The spot is beautiful and well-equipped, and we had a perfect setup for our hammocks. Peter is a kind host, and his pup Willy is a bundle of joy. Only note is to look for a white mailbox and a bucket to mark the driveway in--our gps was off a bit. Would recommend!

Weekend Trip to Harborside Eco-Cabin
A comfortable cabin on gorgeous land! Loved the abundant wildflowers, great stars and sighting the aurora borealis along with fireworks on the fourth. We did see the porcupine family, but luckily my old dog didn't feel a need to chase them.
Shower was very convenient, and the composting toilet was clean. Good cooking supplies, and we also got pre-steamed lobster at a nearby store, which would have been difficult to boil on a fire.
Definitely bring bugspray and long sleeves, the mosquitoes were brutal from 6-10pm.

Weekend Trip to Wild Soul Serenity Campground
Absolutely beautiful place. You can see all of the hard work being put into the land to make it even better. Kat did not hesitate to jump in and help us bring our stuff down. Very nice person and loves the feedback. She has sleds and wagons to load your stuff in and that was a huge plus! We look forward to visiting again.

Weekend Trip to Private Waterfront Cabin/Campsites
This is a place where you can feel at peace but still have everything you need, even though there is no running water or electricity..
They have thought of just about everything, to a full covered kitchen, to a vanity, to boats and a little shack filled with s'mores stuff, sodas and more. They even offer priced services from art class and cooked/baked meals
We must go back.

Robert is a great host. Very clear communication. This is a really special place. I don’t think the description and photos do it justice. It is only 10 minutes from home but it feels like we were deep in the wilderness. We loved paddling around the pond and even saw a beaver swimming by!
Sadly, my dog got a little too curious with a porcupine so beware if your dog is also determined to make friends with porcupines.

Weekend Trip to Cabin of the Woods at Tilden Pond
We absolutely loved our stay! Cabin was very clean and was well-stocked with extra supplies (soap, paper towels, sanitizer, napkins). Robert was very responsive and gave us great recommendations. Kayaking on the pond was a highlight. We especially enjoyed hearing and seeing the loons. Birders: bring your cameras and binoculars! You’re bound to hear and see quite a bit.

The site was as advertised. It was spacious and far away enough from the other sites where you still felt secluded. The kitchenette area was well stocked with cooking utensils and extra propane for the stove. Truly a wonderful glamping experience, it made the trip much easier. Also a great spot if you have an outdoorsy toddler and a dog who does well off leash.

Such a perfect spot for our weekend away with our dogs. The little cabin was perfect and came equipped with everything we needed. I loved hanging out on the front porch during a passing shower ❤️. The outdoor kitchen on the side had plenty of space for cooking and prepping and was covered to keep us protected during any rain. The fire pit was massive and made roasting marshmallows (curtesy of the outpost goodies) super easy and fun! We took full advantage of the boat launch area by letting our dogs swim, kayaking, and fishing. Tons of great fishing out here and a really cool ecosystem out on the pond! At night, the stars were incredible and the sound of the loons were so peaceful. We will definitely be back!

The site was great! Very clean and private. We could leave our 2 dogs off leash while there. The road (dead end) is not that far, but so private we only saw a car or 2 the whole time, not an issue. And parking was close enough that we could use our car to keep our cooler and food inside (we like to do that because of animals). We’ve been to a bunch of Tentrr’s and Yurts, and this was one of the better ones. The host was responsive to any questions we had. Oh, and there were plenty of walks/hikes very nearby. Definitely recommended!

We had such a wonderful time! We were a family of 3 in the big tent. Our 5 year old loved all the adventures in the stream, the fire pit smores and early bird calls as the sun rose. The facilites were perfect and our hosts paid attention to all the details and made it a wonderful escape from our normal day to day life. The nearby lake is gorgeous! We got used to the terrain the more we hiked around our surroundings. We highly recommend this site for folks who want to just hang out or if there’s a desire to venture into Ellsworth for awesome food. We will be back!
