“Gert” is a 1968 completely renovated camper set in a lovely field overlooking the Benjamin River in Brooklin. The field is above a boatyard that specializes in wooden boats. She is ideal for a single or couple, with a state of the art composting toilet, solar shower (there is no hot water in this old girl!), mini fridge, and gas 3 burner stove. She has a queen sized bed, a microwave, and all the kitchen pans and utensils you would need. There is a picnic table, grill, fire pit, and hammock and two kayaks you can launch from the site. This property is about an hour from Acadia National Park, Mount Desert Island and Bar Harbor, Asticou Gardens, and many beaches and sights. It makes a perfect base for your day trips and a peaceful retreat where fireflies and stars abound. There is plenty to do right here, though. Home to black bear, local mammals , and our favorite, wolves. Most of the staff live here full time all year. The sounds of the night are magical. Unleash your imagination and camp here away from the crowds you may find within the local Acadia National Park area which begins about 5 minutes away at Thompson’s Island and the bridge to Mt Desert Island. We are close to basic necessities, and a step away from the masses. We do educational tours daily and if interested these tours are arranged by reservation too. We may allow camping in Winter months but if it is between November and May it is very important to call and find out the accessibility as weather impacts everything. The shower will likely be unavailable in freezing months and some sites are closed. CALL and speak with a staff member before reserving. Self contained Adventure Vans and tent campers with Winter Gear and Rooftop Tents can be accommodated. We have been working on restoring the farm infrastructure for the past 4+ years, planting fruit trees and a vineyard in stages, and working on a barn restoration project that will include a creamery for on-site cheese production once finished.Learn more about this land:Our waterfront campsite is located on a wooded parcel nestled between a rolling farm field and a seasonal cottage. Amenities included in the nightly rental are a 16-foot diameter round Regatta Bell canvas tent (water repellent) set up on a raised wooden platform, with a full-sized pull-out futon, an additional single-sized futon chair, a single-sized air mattress, and an indoor dining table and stools. Outside, overlooking beautiful Crawford Pond (aka Crawford Lake) is an outdoor kitchen and lounging area with patio table and chairs, umbrella, as well as kitchenware (cookware, plates, bowls, cups, utensils, coffee press, etc.), a gas grill, and firepit. Also onsite is a shed for storing food bins and trash, a solar composting toilet, and a solar sun shower stall.The campsite is just steps away from shared water access with a small beach and space to launch paddleboards, canoes, kayaks, or other similar kinds of watercraft. Friendly dogs are welcome at the campsite and on the beach; however, dogs should not be left unattended at the campsite or on the beach.The lake covers nearly 600 acres, with an 11-mile perimeter, and is 3.5 miles in length. In the middle sits 100-Acre Island, a beautiful piece of land stewarded by the Georges River Land Trust and a great place to get out and stretch your legs if you are on a long paddle or to have a picnic. In general, this is a delightful setting for swimming, floating, fishing, and paddling among the loons and other wildlife that this water body is home to.The campsite is a short drive to a number of terrific hiking trails that are part of the Georges Highland Path, a 70-mile network of trails, and the St. George River Canoe Trail. It’s also just 20 minutes to Camden Hills State Park and downtown Camden, and 18 minutes to Rockport or Rockland. There are many excellent restaurants and art galleries in these coastal towns, as well as opportunities to get out on the ocean and enjoy our coastal beaches or catch a ferry for a day trip out to explore one of the iconic islands offshore. Daylily Farm & Waterfalls

Daylily Farm was once part of a large family farm with many acres of fields that have grown into Pine and hardwood forests during the past eighty years. The family was fond of flowers and their efforts have endured into the present. There are two acres of daylilies, Iris, peonies, daffodils, lilacs and concord grapevines. After the last of the White family passed the gardens were slowly being overrun by other opportunistic plants including many Pines. They were crowding out the flower but fortunately the flowers are quite hardy. Going on two years now the flower beds are being reclaimed and the property is being nurtured back into its cared for loveliness.Before the Great Depression the Monroe town center was located on either side of the falls. Rumor has it that during the depression and with electricity becoming available along the Maine Coast, the towns people took down their buildings leaving only the granite foundations and went to live and farm at the coast. This left very little of the town. Fortunately they dismantled the dam and restored the falls to their natural state. This is my second summer here. The first I watched to see what plants grow where and this year there is a lot of reclaiming of the gardens. There are grapevines that are at least 80 years old. New vegetable gardens are being planted. Hegekarten's are being built of the organic materials all around. The sounds of the waterfalls constantly fill the air which is soothing. Falling to sleep with the sounds of falling waters is quite delightful.

Unleash your imagination and camp here away from the crowds you may find within the local Acadia National Park area which begins about 5 minutes away at Thompson’s Island and the bridge to Mt Desert Island. We are close to basic necessities, and a step away from the masses. We do educational tours daily and if interested these tours are arranged by reservation too. We may allow camping in Winter months but if it is between November and May it is very important to call and find out the accessibility as weather impacts everything. The shower will likely be unavailable in freezing months and some sites are closed. CALL and speak with a staff member before reserving. Self contained Adventure Vans and tent campers with Winter Gear and Rooftop Tents can be accommodated. Or If you want to have a solid roof , screens and a fabulous view ask about reserving our Cadillac Mountain View Loft or if the idea of being naked under the stars is appealing opt for our Raw and Rough site.! Pulling in late, and leaving early for a typical Sunrise reservation.? We can also accommodate that if we know that is all you want. Traveling with your horse.? Talk to us about an Equine site. The Biker’s Bunkhouse is ideal for motorcycle travelers as it shelters both the guest and the Bike/s. Always call, we can answer all questions to get you into the right site for your style of adventuring. With each listing be sure to read all the information. If you are interested in a spontaneous camping adventure, if your luggage got lost or if you just don’t want to deal with transporting camping gear we can connect you with a local gear renter who can supply you with a basic box of necessities including a tent. Last minute reservation requests may not work via the reservation site but we may very likely have a space. The Point is located in Gouldsboro, in Downeast Maine on the Schoodic Peninsula near the Schoodic portion of Acadia National Park on occupied Wabanaki land. The point is our home, offered to guests as a place for seekers of peace and solace to gain a better relationship and appreciation with nature in a world that has forgotten the importance and connection we all have with the planet that sustains us. A priority here for me is keeping this land pristine and respected. Our mission to save and protect our natural environment and keep it natural and wild can only be accomplished with the active mindfulness of you. We aim to prove that hipcamp can be a magical experience for private landowners and campers alike, to provide a means of temporal community and beneficial alternative to traditional campgrounds; one that does not degrade the environment and break the peace that small towns still contain. Please be mindful of the trash you generate and mindful of the noise you are making— we aim to provide seekers of peace a *quiet* time in nature.
