Flatrock on the River

Incredible, beautiful spot. The best camping I've ever done. Claude was so thoughtful and accomodating, and all the added touches he put at the campsites made it so easy to just settle in and relax. We will be returning time and time again :)

My friends and I had a great time. The site was quiet and beautiful. We swam in the swimming hole, kayaked, and cooked with the campfire. Definitely would come back!

Flat Rock Quarry Site

Flat Rock was absolutely gorgeous and with various different sites. He was incredibly accommodating and kind. Family friendly place just far enough to get away, yet close enough to town if needed Looking forward to coming back!

We absolutely loved it here!! Staying here was WAY better than a state park campground and very spacious with extra activities around for everyone. The bonus was the kayaks and paddles and the watering hole. This is literally a hidden gem, it doesn’t disappoint.

Our favorite campsite in Maine

It’s magical! This was our second year at Flatrock, we stayed longer this time. We saw bald eagles fishing, kayaked to the beaver lodges, caught pumpkinseed sunfish in the swimming hole, sunbathed on warm rocks, cooked over a campfire. The tiki torches, mulched ground, picnic tables, and fire rings make the experience feel more luxurious. Claude is so nice and helpful. We’ll be back next year!

Flatrock Lone Wolf

Pros: Great site. Claude was very helpful and attentive. Loved the rocks and the free use of the canoes/kayaks. Did some fishing down the stream and caught a few fish and saw some Bald Eagles. The wood and citronella torches were a plus. Awesome fire pit. We will be back. Cons: That we had to leave!

My family and I had a wonderful stay at Flatrock! Claude was so kind, and what a gorgeous property he has. The rocks and the river were amazing. We really enjoyed our swim in the river and time hanging out on the rocks. It was a perfect location to take in a concert in Bangor at the venue there. Claude was kind and let us have a late checkout on our last morning. We got to stay and enjoy the land and pack up leisurely. We loved the beautiful fire pit at our site, as well as the torches. He provided a trash bin and firewood(donations accepted) right on site. I'm looking forward to going back in the future!

Flat Rock Quarry Site

Really nice spot. Very friendly people, and they keep the place in great shape. Although there are quite a few sites here, each has good privacy. The setting is lovely. Definitely recommend.

Camping at flatrock may have been my favorite campsite I’ve been to. We stayed at the Acorn site, which was the prefect size for 2 people and 1 car. The site was clean, and Claude had thought of everything! A fire pit with grate over it, picnic table, clothes line, tiki torches, and a garbage can at each site. Ports potty was close by and very clean. The actual flat rocks were super cool, fun to swim in and very beautiful. We went fishing up the river and caught several fish, mostly bass and red breasted sunfish. Would definitely come back!

Couldn’t recommend this campsite more! Claude is a fantastic host and invests in the land to make it what it is - and it shows! One of the best kept campsites I’ve ever had the pleasure of staying at. Private, plentiful firewood, level ground, clean, an amazing fire pit, trash can, bench, access to a lovely river and swimming hole, I could go on. Thank you Claude for a great stay!

Flatrock is a beautiful place to camp. The grounds are well taken care of and everything is clean. The campsites have picnic tables and fire pits and wood for your fire. Claude and family work hard so you will have a very pleasant experience!!!

Suspension Tent on the River

Flatrock was awesome! We very much appreciated the amenities- citronella tiki torches, firewood, and PRISTINE portapotties! Claude was very friendly and we had a great time. We enjoyed floating in the river, canoeing in the canoe that was free to use on site, and my nephew even caught over forty fish in one day!

We moved to this site when we wanted to add 1 night at the last minute and the site we were at was rented. Claude let us move before check in time, and even let us access his tackle box when we ran out of live bait. This site is calmer, with still water and an erratic boulder/rock shelf to fish/swim/kayak from. Sunrise hits it early, and the porta potty is maybe 1/8th of a mile away-took maybe 2-3 minutes to walk to it. Easily set up our camp shower nearby.

The river sang me to sleep

Flat Rock Point Site

To access this site you go down a gravel/dirt road with your vehicle right to the site. Flat space for tent, trees for setting up camp shower or hammock are easy to find, and the rushing white water of the Penobscot River sings you to sleep at night. Porta potty is less than 100 feet from fire/tent site. We did catch and release in the river, and saw others using the kayaks and canoes he set out. It poured most day/nights we were there, but the road and site never got too muddy thanks to the wood chips at the sites and stones on the road. Overnight low was 55, but a decent sleeping bag with a mat or cot keep you warm. Dont forget your flashlight, as overnights are dark with the great tree cover. Claude is very responsive to messages but you only see him if you happen to cross paths when he is cleaning.

It was a great experience from booking to checking out. Claude is an amazing host and the campsite is so beautiful and peaceful. We enjoyed rhe beautiful site, the flat rock recreational area, and all the amazing amenities. Fresh wood chips made the sites more comfortable. Firewood, and amazing fire pit. Can’t wait to return.

Camping at Flat Rock was the perfect combination of camping and having convenient amenities. The camp sites had fresh wood chips laid down for a comfortable night sleep, the firepit and swivel grill was ideal for cooking, firewood and tiki torches. Claude checked in a few times. And the site itself is so beautiful. Can’t wait to return.
