Epic yurt site with everything you could possibly need- Comfortable lodging while completely submerged in nature. Great location. Highly recommended, will be back!

Secluded. Loved this space. Even though they warned not to get there at night, we did… path is an adventure but follow it, you’ll eventually get there. Will be easier without the wheel barrel! Can hear traffic speeding by in distance but didn’t mind. Outhouse is the cleanest I’ve used. Yurt is a great size. Walk to lake and take the kayaks out. Don’t skip it.

We had a great time at Matthew's yurt! It had everything we needed for a fun and comfortable camping trip. We really appreciated the extra touches like citronella candles, flashlights, board games, and more! The compost toilet and outdoor shower were super clean! We enjoyed roasting smores around the fire and exploring the pond with the provided canoe. It was super convenient being right off Route 1 as Acadia and other trails were just a short drive away! We highly recommend checking out Chipman's Wharf and Crow's Nest Cafe in Millbridge!

The property is great. Removed, but not too far from the car and the road. Everything was clean, organized and as stated. We had plenty of room, and we enjoyed being able to take the kayaks out.
The only hitch was the "limited power" was even more limited as the main power bank was largely discharged, and for whatever reason, the solar panels weren't charging it, plus a 2nd smaller bank was at zero when we arrived. We thankfully had brought one from home and it's charger, so we used it, plus recharging the one bank in the yurt that used the same brand.
As an FYI, the walk to the yurt isn't long, but the terrain is very uneven. There's one spot that is a small dip, so watch your footing.
Overall, a positive experience, and we would rent from Matthew again.

Beautiful site and chock full of comfort and style. Don't hesitate, this is the one you want!
Private parking, short walking trail to site. Feels very secluded, yet nota far drive to local shops and attractions.
Wish I had booked a longer stay to take advantage of the kayaks and outdoor kitchen.

Mathew is a great host and steward of the land. I had a great stay and the yurt and property were just as described. Mind you, you are completely off the grid so treat it like tent camping and come in prepared.

After driving 13 hours and arriving after dark it was a little daunting and stressful to walk through the woods to find the yurt, but we were soon relieved to find the place just as described with everything imaginable already on site and free for us to use. We typically choose more primitive sites, but it was a blessing to be able to simple make a bed and sleep after a long day of travel. Honestly on of the best camp experiences we’ve had. Though we brought an entire truck full of supplies we didn’t even see the need to unpack much.

What a privilege to stay here. The property is so beautiful. The walk back to the yurt is dreamy with moss, ferns, evergreens and birch and the setting for the yurt is just as wonderful. Not a thing has been forgotten Matthew has thoughtfully set up the camp
to have everything you could want or need. I couldn’t recommend it more and hope to return so we can spend more time there.

We had so much fun staying at the yurt! It is in such a peaceful location in the woods near a beautiful pond where we saw lots of wildlife, including two really cute porcupines and what we are pretty sure was a moose (it was dark). The yurt had all of the amenities we needed and more. We hope to be back on our next outdoor adventure! 🛶🦫🌲

The yurt was very homey and had a nice outdoor kitchen. It was very private and we felt comfortable letting our dogs off leash. The outhouse was very nice. There is a three minute walk to the car, so try to pack light. We are really glad we took Matthew’s suggestion and took the ferry with our dogs to Bar Harbor for the day. Highly recommend!!

Matthew’s yurt easily exceeded our expectations. Everything was clean, convenient and stocked. We truly couldn’t have asked for anything more from the experience. Even in inclement weather we stayed dry and cozy. Matthew was incredibly communicative, helpful and friendly. Definitely worth a visit!

We loved our stay at Matthew’s yurt! It was the perfect home base for visiting Acadia National Park. Our kids loved exploring the trails, roasting marshmallows over the fire pit, and hanging out inside the cozy yurt. Matthew was easy to communicate with, and instructions for how to use everything were clear. We wish we’d had a bit more time to just relax at the yurt and use the boats. Our kids are already talking about going back. 😀 Highly recommend!

Very well-equipped yurt - I was impressed. My only recommendation would be to add a fan to allow for some ventilation on super hot days (I know its off-grid, so electricity must be used sparingly, but even a little air movement would be of great relief).

We had a great time in this very private off-grid site. The set-up was neat and inspiring and we were able to do everything we wanted and needed to do, and the books there were perfect for learning more about yurts, planning hikes, and appreciating the area.
There were just two of us there but I could see this site working well for larger groups. The items in and around the yurt were very thoughtful about what people might want or need. Lots of conveniences there!
We went into Acadia and Bar Harbor and there were lots of spots nearby for food and snacks.
Recommended if you’re looking for a secluded spot and are willing to carry your stuff in a few minutes for it!

Matthew’s Yurt was the perfect weekend getaway! Everything was well maintained and clean when we arrived. Love that this was pet friendly as well! The dogs loved it! Will definitely be going back!

Matt has created a sweet off-grid glamping spot. We heard peepers, tree frogs and lots of birds. It's a bit of an uneven hike from the highway to get in, but once you're there it's hard to leave. Deluxe outhouse, comfy fire pit, outdoor kitchen under the palapa all had lighting for nighttime use. The yurt was special with poles cut from trees as the inner structure which gave it a rustic feel. There were thoughtful touches and details everywhere. It poured our second night but we were cozy and dry in the yurt. We loved the little pond where geese came and went. What a lot of work Matt has done here. He was also very communicative ahead of our check and answered questions.
Things we didn't need to bring: coolers, coffee press, bug spray.

Mathew’s yurt was amazing! Close enough to Acadia to fit in some awesome hikes during the day. Had that “we’re really out in the woods” feel and still had access to grocery and convenience stores when needed. The short hike into the site made it feel like we were in a fantasy novel. Would definitely recommend a visit, we’ll be returning ASAP!

Matthew's property is fantastic! The yurt, outdoor kitchen, and shower setup provide a camping/backcountry feel with plenty of luxurious amenities and space to stay dry and relax.
Furthermore, Matthew is extremely responsive and went out of his way to help us. He and his brother are excellent hosts.

Yurt and property in pristine condition, very well styled and maintained. All the necessary amenities are provided for a very comfortable elevated camping experience. Jugs of water on property, plug in ready power bank, kitchen utensils, paper towels- many things we though we would need to carry in but didn’t! We got caught in some heavy rains (late August) but with the right footwear and rain gear the yurt was completely dry and cozy to return to. We are definitely considering a return trip next summer! My partner and I had a great time at this campsite! We wanted a quiet place away from the city for our 11th anniversary. This place had everything we were looking for, e.g., nature and complete solitude. Matthew was very responsive and even offered us to use his canoe and kayak, plus he had many helpful tools, e.g., lights, paper towels, bug spray, tiki torches, chairs, a table, and the list goes on. We were so thankful for everything that the owner provided that we didn't even have to use all of our gear. I also really loved the two trails! Everything was so peaceful that I wanted to return in the spring.

This campsite was the perfect getaway from the city with our dog! Close to Acadia, local preserves, hiking, and pet friendly swimming at Jones Pond. We loved exploring the trails and local fish camps in the area, followed by peaceful campfires back at camp by night. A short hike in and you are at your own private woodside camp. While you may want to bring bug spray in the warmer months due to close proximity of the pond, the owner provides tiki torches, which is added protection from an easy campfire. The owner was quick to respond and extremely hospitable to any questions we had during our stay. We can’t wait to come back as soon as we are able and we are sure it only gets better with the seasons. Be sure to also check out Schoodic point and Lunch on the Wharf for easy day trips. Thanks again to the wonderful hosts!

Such an awesome campsite! It was very easy to find and it was an easy 0.2 mile walk on the trail from the parking area to the campsite. It is very private and is so peaceful. There is a small pond that you can walk to and take a canoe out on !

It was a beautiful sight. Nice short hike through the green woods to the sight. We were able to set up our tent and hang out. Didn't make it down to the water but definitely look forward to checking it out the next time we stay.
