This property was once a 300 acre plus tobacco farm. The original log cabin was built in the 1850s and now serves as our dining room. The front portion of the house was completed in April of 1861 and the back in the early 1900s. We have plans to eventually turn it into a working farm which produces tinctures, salves and extracts of various native plants including hemp. Learn more about this land: Heavily wooded mountain side with flowing creek. Easy access (walking distance) to Jefferson National Forest, National Forest horse trail and the Blue Ridge Parkway. (Note: You cannot drive to the Blue Ridge Parkway as the path is an old forest road which has been gated, but you can walk up to it.) We also have a tree house which has AC, heat and electrical connection. Only site 4 is next to the brook. However, the site positions are for the purposes of the listing only. You may camp anywhere on the property. There is plenty of frontage on the creek and several tents can go up there. The toilets at the treehouse and the bus are flushing, camping toilets with sinks. I enjoyed tent camping on Roni's land. The property and amenities were as described. During An evening walk in the area, we saw cows, a pond with cattails, talked to a nearby neighbor and photographed some beautiful pastures and trees. Very quiet at night. They have a little dog that we made friends with. My Google maps helped us find the place very well.Cell phone service was intermittent afterwards. Would recommend to others

Box Elder Treehouse

I stayed here with my husband, dog and two kids. I put the kids on two pool floats and they slept comfortably in the floor on those. AC was nice and the creek near the treehouse is magic! We slept great even though a big thunderstorm. Only thing I could've wished for is maybe a coffee pot but we'll remember to bring it next time!

Roni is an excellent communicator - I need a place to car camp on my way to Mcafee knob for sunrise and she was gracious and accommodating. I didn’t get to see much of the property as it was dark when i arrived and left, but the moon was bright so what I was able to see looked beautiful. Great experience overall. Would definitely camp here again!

No complaints, other than the weather, poured so i slept iny car, didnt get to do camping but host seemed very nice
